  1. Shouldn't the PM and her government also be concerned, and speak out against, pressure on the independence (such as it is) of the judicial-system from a pressure-group like this, or are their Skyped-instructions to let the Red-Shirts get on with it unhindered ?

    Whatever happened to Fighting-for-Justice & No-Double-Standards ?

Or is there real concern about whether/what the Constitutional Court might rule ?

At least the bombs and grenades are not flying, yet ...

The PM has actually spoken out FOR the protests!

    they are pro-government protesters.

  2. Opposition leader Abhisit Vejjajiva yesterday said Yingluck should clarify her roles as Thaksin's sister and Thailand's prime minister.

"She should clearly distinguish her roles as a sister and the prime minister. She may feel sorry for her brother being overthrown from power, but that's a personal matter.

I think that is also a political matter.

I think that she also made clear that if she feels sorry for someone then it are the people who voted for her brothers government.

  3. as long no one is forced to marry if you wanna live together i am fine if marriage is only for man woman couples.

What is your nationality? So you are against legal gay marriage? In which country? You don't have to answer of course. Just curious. You write as if not a native English speaker so I am curious where you are coming from. Literally.
has nothing to do with nationality.

i believe in freedom. in a modern free world, in a free society no one is forced to marry. good thing. live together with what ever gender you want and dress yourself how ever you feel what you are.

in the beginning of the modern area and still today some people look down on people living together that are not married. 2-3 generations ago it was almost impossible to do so. nowadays in a more modern, more urban, new lifestyle society you can.

and if people start to merry each other it should not be because the state give married couples some benefits.

The topic is about the possibility of civil unions under the LAW in Thailand for sexual minorities. Something not equal to straight marriage for now because Thailand is still BACKWARDS on these issues. NOBODY is talking about forcing anyone to get married! "People" in Thailand are ALREADY getting married. In the millions. "People" also live together without legal contract, people of all kinds. What are you suggesting? If you are so "for freedom" why would you not be for the same freedom (to marry or not marry) for ALL citizens? If you are just against gay civil rights to form legalized relationships, marriage or civil unions, it might help if you clearly just SAY THAT. If so, how can you justify denying the exact same rights to an entire class of citizens? That is blatantly unfair discrimination.
whatever relationship people form it should be not illegal.

but okay you want a law to legalize your choice of relationship.

a law for civil unions should be gender neutral, open for everyone and every combination and not a special same-sex civil union law.

  5. If I write my own opinion on Pheu Thai party list MP and UDD leader Korkaew I'm afraid I would open myself up for a defamation lawsuit. Mind you if someone can have an opinion of "intellectual soft spoken good man" why can't I have an opinion which could very well be somewhat of the opposite like " intellectual soft spoken evil man"

I don't think Korkaew is an evil man.

but what makes you think you could not speak free here?

Sulak Sivaraksa, a critic of old "elites" has his Internet accounts blocked by the gouvernment, because he said the "new elites" are worse.
his internet is blocked? but he isn't in jail like the comedian, right? and wouldn't such block a judicial decision? can the government do that alone?

    have more details?

And is that now a good or a bad thing in your opinion?

  6. Yaowapa secured 67,101 votes while Kingkarn received 21,372 votes. Taveesak received 2,456 votes and Taveep 977 .

Yaowapa was elated by the result, saying that she had little time for the election campaign. She attributed the victory to Pheu Thai’s national policies.

look at that dear fellow forum members. 67k votes vs. 21k for the runner up of the Democrat Party

I think that is a pretty good sign that people support the government

It is a good sign that at least 21,000 people in the area don't subscribe to the BS.

My count was ~25,000 including minor candidates, and that is voters registered in that area who bothered to cast a ballot.

I think the conclusion to be drawn is that, even on their home ground, PTP & the S-clan may win the majority (a foregone conclusion really), but there are still a large minority who are willing to stand up and vote another way.

    I find this encouraging. smile.png

well a few. and we can see it isn't one party state as some people claim.

  7. what Chinese feudal elite clans you are talking about?

are you a national socialist or what kind of propaganda words are that?

Private sector will be involved. specially if the show is run by PTP. no worry.

    Dear Zhouzhou,

here is a link for you, so you don't have to further embarrass yourself by continuously asking other forum members "are you a national socialist?"

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazism

    I hope this helps.

Although it is just a "people' encyclopedia" and therefore not 100% error-free, it also has useful information on "democracy" and "justice". Great if you want to learn something

there aren't only the German Nazis.

national socialism is a combination of nationalist ideas with socialist ideas. both ideologies not very good in my book. standing for hate.

like turning on the non-nationals like on the Chinese in this case would be born out of nationalism

turning on those who have a little bit more than the average is a typical socialist trait.

All true, but you have to admit, those buggars from Guangdong don't half know how to carve up a country.

Thailand have seen dark days of discrimination of Chinese origin people in the 30s till 60s in last century when the military men ruled.

No need to repeat that. it is similar like to declare that the Jews rule the western world. we know exactly what kind of political background those people have who make such claims. Targeting Chinese is done in the same spirit.

  9. In the court’s consideration, Korkaew presented Interior Minister and Pheu Thai Party leader Charupong Ruangsuwan, Deputy House Speaker Charoen Jankomol and red shirt leader Thida Thawornseth as his witnesses, all of whom guaranteed his behaviours. They said Korkaew was a man with a gentle nature and during the parliamentary session had never made provocative comments to the media nor stirred political chaos. He also helped Charoen in inviting people with different political views to discuss reconciliation and helped campaign among eligible voters to vote in the Bangkok gubernatorial election.

That is the way i know Korkaew. He is an intellectual soft spoken good man.

    You quote Jatuporn as witness?

Do you know Korkaew? what i said about him are my own conclusion.

  10. Private sector won't ever be involved, because they can cause the bidders to lose public face, and you know how much FACE and STATUS means in the Thai Chinese feudal elite clans

  11. According to Kittiratt, who is also a deputy prime minister, a working committee is being set up to ensure transparency of investment and it will include Pramon Sutivong, chairman of the ACT. The committee will work out the median prices of all construction projects, mutually agreed by the government, the private sector and the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

He also promised information on all projects would be posted on the website of the Comptroller-General's Office.

"We promise transparency, or it may affect other investment projects," he said.

good job. transparency is the way to go.

    move forward Thailand.

  12. There are costs associated with administering the border(s). It is not unusual that the entities charged with providing these services look to 'user fees' to off-set the costs, especially given the current "Sequestration" situation. (I do not know if the CPB/DHS is negatively impacted by the mandatory Sequestration budget cuts?) FWIW, there are already some "fast-pass"-like alternatives like NEXUS, SENTRI and Global Entry, so it's easy to envision automated kiosk alternatives.

For air departures within Thailand I pay 100 baht for a domestic segment and 700 baht for an international departure.

I still remember paying $5 for my first fishing license some 40 years ago so not sure how 'mad" the world has gone? whistling.gif

that is a fee you pay for the use of airport.

not a fee to visiting or leaving the country.
