  1. Sadly the poll results inThailand can be likened to red cells and white cells in the blood stream with the white cells representing PTP. The predominance of white cells simply indicates that there is a serious infection which if not treated will lead to the death of this nation.

i think you are wrong. it shows how healthy the body is.

  2. Chechen leaders have made it clear they have no beef with the USA, only with Russia. They're obviously afraid of the U.S. now getting involved in their conflict. They better be glad George W. Bush isn't still in office!

As far as charges and proof of guilt for the bombings, that is no problem. They even have a witness (the SUV driver) saying they both freely confessed to him.

I don't think they are afraid of the USA. why should they? They are simply not involved in that terror act. even FBI said the brothers acted alone.

has nothing to do with G.W. Bush.

  3. congratulations!

so many good things coming out from Thailand, that is another thing to add to the list.

    very good.

I suggest you hold off on the enthusiastic endorsement until such time as the device undergoes clinical trials and is shown to actually work.

even if it turns out that way you describe it is not bad.

research work is often dead end work without a final product. that is part of the process. in the next stage they will be better.

people use their creativity to do good things, research, make invention.

some just use their brain to bash other. not very good.

  4. To be fair, other than the Nation's reporting it as a hero's welcome in the headline, and then a warm reception in the next sentence no one from the Thai team seems to be counting any chickens. They even say they are not sure they would win.

Just worthless hyperbole from the Nation.

They even say they are not sure they would win.

Of course they know that and do not really expect to win.

Does that spoil the positive spirit? No.

  5. Nationalism is showing its ugly head !w00t.gif

How come that the Thais (best at everything), had to hire foreign lawyers??

Because if the court decision goes wrong, they can blame the foreign lawyer. wink.png

That is nonsense. read the other article, they are quiet happy with quality of the work by the foreigner.

Wait and see a complete turn-around if the decision goes against Thailand.
that is just in your head.

the ultra nationalist will be unhappy with the court decision. they are already unhappy.

but those who writing here the feel good articles and praise the foreign lawyer who help Thailand will not blame them afterwards.

  6. If students show disinterest. i would blame the teacher not the student.

That is a true Thai perspective. A student can't do badly because it's the teachers fault. That's why you have a no-fail policy in Thailand. It's never the student's fault.

If a teacher is good she/he will get the attention of their students. not only in Thailand but everywhere on the world.

but good teacher are very rare.

Easy to talk about, difficult to back up. We can all define what teachers are like in heaven so when you get some students from heaven then let me know.

I am an expert on this. I went to school for many years. been a student for many years. and still take lesson seminars now as grown up with a job.

i have seen many teachers and their different ways to teach. only few were good.

how you can be a good teacher if you think bad about your students? you will fail.

  7. Anyone that teaches English here understands the problem. It doesn't matter how often they talk about it the problem won't disappear.

In high school classrooms the boys are completely disinterested except for about 5% and the girls are interested except for about 5%.

I believe much of the disinterest comes from the Thai English teachers that generally discredit the foreign teachers so the students follow their lead.

Next point: Why are Thai teachers teaching English? The students end up speaking Thai-English which you cannot understand. When students have completed high school they have received about 15 years of English classes and most can speak relatively no English.

Since Thais are superior then why should they listen to a foreigner?

  8. IMO Thai's need to learn the following

    1- Customer service

    2- Customer loyalty

    3- How to say please

4- How to say thank you

5- How to keep their fingers out of their noses

    Customer service is very good.

they say "thank you", they say" please"

soon they will able to say that in the 10 main languages of Asean countries,

She said a language learning app and software would be available for download by the end of this year. They would provide 900 often-used sentences in each of the 10 main languages of Asean countries, Mandarin, Korean and Japanese, so students and Thai people can learn the languages on their own through tablets and PCs.

Can you say "please" in bahasa indo, korean or in mandarin?

does your country have similar education project? probably not.

  9. "Languages have immense power that can help you win the hearts of people from other countries, which is good for you to deal with them," Sudakarn said.

    That are very true words.

makes you wonder how much the Thai basher can speak of the local language. they probably failed in the winning heart mission and now look at everything bad and angry because they don't understand.

learn languages, people. learn your neighbors language. it is a good thing.

    and learn mandarin of course.

  11. There is only one international language despite the plethora of languages globally. English is the only way for Thai's to get ahead, but then they would be able to see what the rest of the world really can offer and that would not be good for the Thai elites who control the country and the continuing repression of the Thai populace at large now would it?

To learn only English would be very narrow minded.
  12. There are 52 million Hispanics in US and a 3000 km land border with Mexico. Does every American citizen speak at least some Spanish? No, because there is no pressure to learn. The immigrant learns the language of the host country. As long as there will be more Laotians or Burmese coming to Thailand for education or work, they will learn Thai and not the other way around. I doubt we'll see the Isaan people crossing the border to Cambodia in order to find better paid jobs. They'd rather go to Phuket or Pattaya and learn the local version of Thai language.

what if the host country doesn't have any official language?

It is always good to speak more than one language and even better to speak more than 2 language.

    It was a joke dimwit.

A joke without any quality. Puts you not in the position to call others dimwit.

  14. I would imagine that David Bowie was at full volume.

Am I wrong in recalling that Noppadon was the man who was removed from his position around 5/6 years ago for practically signing away the PV rights to the Cambodians?

    yes, you got that wrong.

Noppadorn signed a bilateral agreement to support the UNSECO heritage bid by Cambodia.

Abhisit whit his weird goals and his ultra nationalist friends from the PAD used that to create stink.

  15. Personally I like to watch k. Chalerm. He displays a keen sense of humour sometimes, something which pro and con tend to agree on.

As for "most of the critics must have read in original otherwise they would not voice their informed opinions that fervently" I can only assume that doesn't refer to posters here, but to informed Thai people, politicians and judges :-)

it refers to the posters here. surely they must know what they talk about.

As for Chalerm - you are right. that is why so many Thai like him.

People like to watch Chalerm because he is the joke, a drunken thuggish buffoon pretending to be a politician. Only one Thai has to like the man to assure his election and position in a Thaksinist government.

he isn't a joke. he makes jokes. don't know the difference?

but okay not everyone has a sense of humour, specially not people who have hate in their heart.

  16. Although the North may have limited nuclear weapon capabilities, all it takes is one detonation to render parts of the South uninhabitable for a long time and to create a humanitarian crisis not seen since the end of WWII. This is why there is concern, although the South Korean population appears to be in a state of denial. The US would not use a nuclear device if there was going to be collateral damage to the South. The USA and South Korea's allies could not sustain the billions of $$ to clean up the resulting mess.

The Chinese government policy is one of the reasons for the crisis and while it has so far played to China's advantage forcing Japan and South Korea to divert large sums of money to their respective defense instead of investing in the industrial and social services sectors, thereby blunting their respective competitive edge against China, the economic chickens are coming home to roost. It is dawning on China which is heavily dependant upon foreign export markets and which holds enormous investments around the world, that a raging North Korea will have dire consequences on the shakey Chinese economy. In China, money talks and it's talking now. It's not how to avoid a humanitarian crisis or war, but how to keep China protected from the potential economic fallout. As dependant upon Chinese money and exports many western countries are, a western economic boycott would cause the Chinese economy to collapse.

China isn't responsible for the mess nor is it economy anywhere near to collapse or to blame for that japan hasn't enough money to spend for the social services sectors.

A western economic boycott on China? i think no western country could nor would consider this seriously.

Thank you Beijing for causing an extraordinary amount of the new wealth in E Asia and SE Asia to be diverted into a new Asian arms race. East Asians and SE Asians now are spending more on defense than all of Europe.

East vs East - Asia's new arms race

It's not just North Korea. The whole region is turning new wealth into weaponry

    Spect_East_Vs_East

    http://www.spectator.co.uk/features/8880761/asias-arms-race/

    from the article:

The biggest arms importers over the last five years are all in Asia: India, China, Pakistan, South Korea and Singapore.

Impressive that Singapore made it on the top 5 list. Japan not. so japan would probably have some Yen left to spend on the social service system

but not so surprised about India, China, Pakistan. just count how many people live there and compare that with Europe. so nothing to wonder that they have also a big military budget.

if they all import so someone must produce that arms. guess these someones are not up for an economic boycott of a good customer.

With South Korea spending habits i am also not surprised. even if its a smaller nation than the top 3. their military is almost equally nuts like those in North Korea.

    another line.

America’s role as the policeman of Asia, established since the second world war, seems to be diminishing.

lets hope for that. i don't mind if they go and would not miss them. what that article misses is to call them responsible for that arm race. same as geriatrikid blamed China we should actually blame the well equipped well armed out of place policeman from the other side of the ocean that the poor Asian countries spend so much on weapon instead on milk for kittens.

Publicus, your opinions coming from a certain school of thought i don't subscribe but they are at least substantiated. what you think about that "a western economic boycott would cause the Chinese economy to collapse." idea? what kind of anti globalist statement is that?

What happens to the American good old hatred of the Japanese, specially if they got now that PM Shinzoō Abe? Some have now developed a soft spot for them and a concerned about their social service system.

I am not a friend of boycotts and sanction made by governments. (an individual consumer boycott is something else. that would be up to the people to join.)

  18. I was sitting on a chair with nothing but a wall behind me, an old lady was in a chair in front, she turned to face me and was stairing right into my eyes for about 5 minutes before I had to say something.

In any culture or language, thats messed up, she was only a few feet away, I felt like a zoo exzibit.

what could she be thinking about for that entire time.

you could have ask her for her telephone number.

  20. It is your GENERAL denial I was talking about-on most subjects,

I pointed the fact re-mother because she gave me the good thinking to object to wrong --do you understand,

I did answer you on the death penalty---my remarks re politicians was to point out the fact if one was given the death sentence MAYBE action would be taken. NOT meaning it should happen.

I agree in general it solves nothing.

reining in the officials involved and publishing it nationwide is healthy.

My mother taught me to be friendly and to see the good sides.

I praise people for achievement and good jobs they do. you think i am doing wrong?
