  1. Now he's tied for 4th place, 3 behind the 4 leaders at the US Open.  Total purse US$2,000,000+ so in the top ten would bring home a big check.  Sure he won the Brunei Open recently but a good showing at Shinnecock Hills would pump him up big.

Except for Finau, a Polynesian, Kiradech the only player near the top with different color skin and body type than those skinny white guys.

    Have a great day Barnrat.

  2. Of course life in Thailand for farang men with Thai wives and  who themselves can speak Thai is very different compared with men without such amenities. Many men, and women, require daily external entertainments in order to keep up a 'big face', or to relieve mental boredom.

But the fact remains, that life itself is not boring, only some folks living it are bored coz they can find no personal internal satisfactions.

  3. Heard the term 'bird brain'?

Habit rules all so unless you can break a 237 million year old habit of resting/nesting in nice places, pigeons will abound. Kill a few, annoy a few with rubber things (try inflated condoms), fake cannon shots (sure to annoy the neighbors), wire mesh all will be met with temporary success as next generation of bird brains has the exact same habit as old generation.

But frankly i do sympathize as i also do not like the pigeon shit on my balcony.

  4. Northern chinese men have a very pronounced, and ugly, habit of rolling up the front of the

t-shirt to about the nipples and displaying the gut belly, this only in the summer.

To see a group of lazy, slovens puffing away on cigs, swilling rot-gut 'bai jiu' with dirty yellow smelly bellies hanging out...the boorish result of thousands of years of male domination.

I never saw a white man do this.

  5. Am not sure how the TM30 is sent it to Immig, except at an hotel which is web based reporting, at least here in CM.  I'm considering renting a house in the countryside and the owner lives in Bangkok and i'm sure he does not want to be bothered by numerous TM30 forms since i travel out of T'land often.

Could i ask him to sign a dozen of such paper forms, all undated, and then when i do leave and return i would fill in the data and mail the form to CM Immig?

I've no problem with the TM30 but the owner won't want to do it so i'm only relieving him of this onerous detail.

  6. Hey guys, and gals.  The system in place here in T'land suits the folks in charge, keeps many underling Thais employed, reminds the farang just who is in charge and brings in some farang cash.  If your old car still runs and you have no more cash on hand, would you buy a new car on credit?  Why change any system if no need or obvious and immediate benefit?

It's the conservative and traditional way.  It ain't broken.  The Immig system does not work to benefit the farang.  IMHO.

  7. I met one while walking in Hong Kong one dark night on a remote country trail. He/she was sliding into the woods as i approached and i think there was very little chance i would step on the snake. Yes, nocturnal and very poisonous. Avoid when possible.

  8. YES, Hong Kong Open again this year with big prize money. October 22-25. And this the final event prior to Race to Dubai so many hopefuls entered, including Gmac, MAJimenez, JRose, etc. And to support the team, free entry on Thursday. Price for 4 days, HK$600 = 2700 TB.

So get your Air Asia tix, Octopus Card, MTR to Sheung Shui station and enjoy.

  9. Many genera of mosquitoes in the world, some large and some small. The big ones are easy to hear, to see and to swat by hand. The small ones are much more troublesome. I have found in T'land only the small ones. Maybe in south T'land some big ones.

  10. From the NYT, 9 Aug 2015.

Thai military courts on Friday sentenced two people to long prison terms on charges of insulting the monarchy, the heaviest sentences for the crime in the country’s history, lawyers and a legal monitoring group said. In the first case, Pongsak Sriboonpeng, 48, was sentenced to 30 years for six Facebook posts in 2013 and 2014, said his lawyer, Sasinan Thamnithinan. He had originally been sentenced to 60 years, but the time was reduced because he pleaded guilty, Mr. Sasinan said. In the northern city of Chiang Mai, another military court handed down a prison sentence of 28 years, reduced from 56 years, for a 29-year-old woman who also pleaded guilty, said Yingcheep Atchanont, a researcher at the legal monitoring group iLaw. The woman, Sasivimol, who wanted only her first name used, was sentenced for seven Facebook posts that insulted the royal family, the researcher said. Thailand’s lèse-majesté laws are the world’s harshest and make it a crime to defame, insult or threaten the monarchy.

A version of this brief appears in print on August 8, 2015, on page A5 of the New York edition with the headline: Asia; Thailand: 2 Punished for Insulting King. Order Reprints| Today's Paper|Subscribe

  11. Unfortunately, yes. Hong Kong is probably the nearest place for big shoes that you can try on. Lots of big western men there with plenty of cash so they are shopping for shoes. If you go i suggest Sheung Wan, near Central and try the big department stores round there. Custom shoe makers too in HK.

I've got an old, old pair, the 2nd pair of same model, New Bal which are so decrepit and repaired in China that they really belong on a beggars foot but damn, they are the most comfy shoes ever owned. Shoe companies much like car companies, always must have new models on hand and send the the old ones to history. To my regret.
