  1. I would do exactly the same as my bank did with me to issue a credit card for myself. Just put a certain amount (e.g. 500K) on a bank account in the applicant's name and let the bank block it there. The money could be used to prove liquidity and as security for any illness/death if there is no insurance. This procedure saves the Immigration a lot of time of controlling work.

How much the applicant spends on his/her daily life should be a personal matter.

  2. Me and my Thai gf planning to go to Germany next week for vacation. Therefore I told her to get an International Driving licence, so we both can drive a rented car there. Now she just got the International licence today, but on the list of contracting parties of the convention on Road traffic (1949) Germany is not listed. All other german neighbour countries (eg. Austria, Denmark, Switzerland, Poland, Netherlands etc) are listed, but not Germany. Does anyone know the reason why? Is she allowed to drive a car there during our holidays or not? How to do?

  3. There is a pretty NEW RULE just valid since January 2016. The (Pattaya) Immigration will NOT accept anymore when you have a break for vacation to travel in Thailand or neighbour countries. The reason: You are here on an ED VISA , that means you decided to be a student and you are here to STUDY - so STUDY and don't go on vacation. One exception is when you go back to your home country within the 3-months time gap, then (still) nothing happens. Of course you have to prove this by showing your flight booking. But I'm not sure if other immigration bureaus in other provinces are strict like that.

  4. Best would be to get your visa in the UK and to enter Thailand with an ED visa, then you don't waste time and money for an additional visa run, but the paper work here in TH takes about 3-4 weeks before you can get the documents via EMS. If you still have this time then go for it. Don't believe people who are telling you that you don't need to leave the country when you arrive with a tourist visa. That's definitely wrong! If you really want to study Thai and not just to buy a visa then I can recommend EASY ABC SCHOOL in Pattaya. As soon as you applied at the school you will get all the necessary application documents by email. It's fast and easy.

  5. 1. I've been in VN 3 times and I always let my travel agency do the visa and the paperwork. It cost me about 1K more but I'm not wasting my time and money for transportation fees, etc.

    2. If you have the money to buy a rolex and to stay in a 4 stars hotel then you also can spend a few Dong for a taxi from AP to Hotel.

    3. Hanoi isn't more dangerous than any other city in this world but using brain when travelling and not to go alone in dark streets is never wrong. Leave your valuables at home then you don't have to be worry about that.

    Enjoy your time there!

  6. You should not think of how to keep the ants out of the water cooker. It's better to find a way to keep them out of your house. This is what I did and since they aren't in my house anymore they aren't in my water cooker as well. Problem solved!

  7. Everyone can attend a language course whenever he/she wants it, no matter what kind of visa he/she has. An ED-ED-Visa allows applicants to stay for a longer period (e.g. many years). Actually,... people who are on an ED VISA and REALLY interested in learning a language, wouldn't complain about the new rule (8 hours in class every week). Only the people who are looking for an easy way to get a long term visa are doing that. They are not interested to learn. All they want is a visa.

  8. The time during semester break is the time where Thai parents don't know what to do with their kids. So give them a few baht to go to the next Internet shop playing onine games or to meet friends. I have rarely seen Thai parents doing family activities, playing games together, etc. Even when they go to the beach together the parents sitting in the shadow, eating Somtam and drinking Red Label Whisky.... but not an eye on their kids. They give them a motorcycle and never care if they are wearing helmets or not. Nothing has changed and nothing will change! T.i.T.

  9. Forget to find a list! Attending a Thai language course is the BEST investment you can do. Even just a 20 or 40 hours course helps you a lot. Otherwise the Thais will treat you as a KWAI (buffalo) for the rest of your life in LOS, because you need their help for every little thing. What a shame!

  10. Forget the book! Attending a Thai language course is the BEST you can do. Even just a 20 or 40 hrs course helps you a lot. Otherwise the Thais will treat us Farangs like a kwai (buffalo) because we need their help for every little thing we do, even just to order our food. What a shame!

  11. Very easy to check that everything is okay with the car.

    1. Ask to see the blue book. No original book - No deal!

    2. Compare the name of owner in the book with the person who is going to sell the car. Ask for ID card. If that matches then....

    3. Make a small cash deposit (e.g. 10,000 Baht) to show your interest in buying that car.

4.Go to the transport department together with the seller and register the car on your name.

5.If everything is done go to your bank with the seller and pay the full amount or give him a cash cheque in exchange with the blue book.

But. .... before you do anything of this go to a garage to check the car. Buying a 2nd hand car is always a risk. Be careful if the car is CHEAP, because normally second hand cars in Thailand are quite expensive. Probably it's better to buy a new one.
