1,000 Baht only? That's ridiculous. I bet he made a few TENTHOUSAND with this scam! This is JUSTICE for Thais. Try this as a foreigner and you end up in prison and pay a hundredthousand Baht to compensate. TIT

If I remember right,..... it was about 17 years ago in Pattaya. There was stormy weather and about 13°C at night and no chance to sit outside unless wearing a warm jacket. Next morning most of the boats at Pattaya beach were crashed because of the heavy storm at night. This was the coldest day (since 30 years) I have ever seen in Pattaya. Anyone else remember?

I would NEVER EVER carry my original passport with me when I am going on a boat trip. The risk is to high to lose it and to get a new one (incl.a new visa) is a BIG DEAL here. Either they accept my passport COPY or my Thai Driving licence. If they don't accept one of that, then I keep my ass on mainland. That's it! Problem solved!

In my opinion this guy isn't brave but stupid. He was acting like a bloody greenhorn who doesn't know anything about Thailand and young thai people who believe to be strong and untouchable. How can he try to make a problem with a gang of young thai boys who want to show their power to their friends? I guess the bill was just a few hundred bath. It's not worth to risk a life for that. The woman did the right thing. She just let them go. They come back to pay or not it doesn't matter. She is Thai. She knows young thai people and how to stay away from big trouble with a youth gang.

There is a pretty NEW RULE just valid since January 2016. The (Pattaya) Immigration will NOT accept anymore when you have a break for vacation to travel in Thailand or neighbour countries. The reason: You are here on an ED VISA , that means you decided to be a student and you are here to STUDY - so STUDY and don't go on vacation. One exception is when you go back to your home country within the 3-months time gap, then (still) nothing happens. Of course you have to prove this by showing your flight booking. But I'm not sure if other immigration bureaus in other provinces are strict like that.

A friend of mine bought a condo in really good condition for 1.1 Mio Baht and rents it out for 8,000 Baht per month. That's a REALLY GREAT INVESTMENT!!!

Som nam nah!
As long as 12 years old school kids driving from the school ground without driving licence and without a helmet,..sometimes 3,4 or 5 on ONE bike, the teachers, parents and even the policeman in front of the school are responsible if accidents like this happen. Traffic lessons should start in SCHOOL and at home.

Everyone can go on vacation every year, but don't do it within the first 3 or 6 months. Before you leave the country make sure that your visa is still valid when you come back and leave a copy of your flight booking at your school office, so the Immigration will know about your holidays when they come to school to check the attendance.

Not that cheap but worth the price and a very high german standard quality you will find at
German Dental - Thappraya Road Soi 9
They have many experienced dentists working there and the Owner is Michael, a german guy and dental technician, working successfully in Pattaya for over 20 years. This is my No.1 choice.

Oh yes, Pattaya is FULL. ...really full of Chinese tourists and hundreds of tour buses on the roads. But those chinese guys don't bring much money to pattaya. They booked and paid their whole tour in China at a Chinese travel agency, even the food is included. They stay here just for a few days. All they buy is some souvenirs. They neither buy land, houses or condos like farangs do, nor do they sponsor the girls. So.... what will we count or compare with the last years? The number of the people in town or the benefit for the city and the business people here?

Do they both get divorced before they turn to 18 to avoid charges of inbreeding? How can they marry again in a legal THAI way later when they are still married in Buddha's way?
I'm thinking of getting married to my beer bottle to trick the spirit in the beer. AMAZING THAILAND!

Regarding to the fact of the upcoming ASEAN community in January 2016 I expected that they would hire MUCH MORE Foreign English teachers to fill the big gap and to bring Thailand on a higher English level... but to REDUCE the number of Foreign teachers is a step back into the stone age.
But whatever. .... This could bring up a new business idea for foreigners in all provinces. Offer English courses ONLY FOR THAI ENGLISH TEACHERS and teach them how to teach English students in school. The 500 "EXPERTS" won't be able to train ALL English teachers in the whole country.
I'm already LMAO..... 555555

Best would be to get your visa in the UK and to enter Thailand with an ED visa, then you don't waste time and money for an additional visa run, but the paper work here in TH takes about 3-4 weeks before you can get the documents via EMS. If you still have this time then go for it. Don't believe people who are telling you that you don't need to leave the country when you arrive with a tourist visa. That's definitely wrong! If you really want to study Thai and not just to buy a visa then I can recommend EASY ABC SCHOOL in Pattaya. As soon as you applied at the school you will get all the necessary application documents by email. It's fast and easy.

1. I've been in VN 3 times and I always let my travel agency do the visa and the paperwork. It cost me about 1K more but I'm not wasting my time and money for transportation fees, etc.
2. If you have the money to buy a rolex and to stay in a 4 stars hotel then you also can spend a few Dong for a taxi from AP to Hotel.
3. Hanoi isn't more dangerous than any other city in this world but using brain when travelling and not to go alone in dark streets is never wrong. Leave your valuables at home then you don't have to be worry about that.
Enjoy your time there!

I really can recommend the SAXOPHONE PUB at Victory Monument. Great atmosphere there, different kinds of music because the live bands always changing and no hookers. The ladies (guests) there are working women and if you are friendly and polite it's easy to get in contact with them. But if you are into student chicks (like @ RCA), then this is not your place.

Buy a BIGGER CAR (eg. Fortuner, Pajero etc ). Get the car in black color with black tinted windows ( mafia style ) and no one will bother or chase you anymore when you use your horn or change lane, etc. Even the police won't check your car that much. They suspect that someone "important" is the owner.

The more Prayut is getting angry, the more Thaksin is laughing his ass off! What can a "man of war" do against a clever business man? Can an ant make an elephant hurt seriously? Thaksin has always a PLAN B ready in his pocket, otherwise he would be dead already.

If the OP would run aan own pub or disco he could understand the policy of that club. A beer or a coke you can drink even you are standing anywhere..... but if you come with friends and wanna open a bottle of Whisky and Champagne then you need and expect a table and a place chair where you can sit.
I had my own discotheque a few years ago and I had the same problem. Some customers come to drink only 1 beer all night but they blocked my chairs and tables while other customers who came to celebrate with friend, buying whisky bottles, ordering food etc cannot find a table. I also asked those guys to move, coz it was my business to make money! Is that so hard to understand?
-
Oh man. .... that's great to know that they dislike that. From now on I would ALWAYS put my stuff under the motorcycle seat, just to make sure that they don't drink your beer and eat your food. That will help you to save a lot of money.

Here my own experience marrying to a HISO-Girl: I'm running an own (good) business here in Thailand and my (Bkk)-gf had a great job (Director in an International company) with a really high salary (a few hundred thousand Baht per month) and parents who own some gas stations, 400 Rai Land, etc. When she got pregnant she asked me to marry her to avoid of losing face and parents faces. I agreed but my condition was, that I will not do any kind of preparations for the ceremony. She agreed. Then I asked her about the Sin-Sord and she answered, that she will ask her mom. And mom'mom's answer was, that she is not going to sell her daughter, (I can marry her but I cannot buy her) therefore I should not think much about that, she said. Later, during the wedding ceremony the leader of the ceremony put 1.5 Mio Baht in a bowl. I really couldn't believe it! And all the guests believed that this cash comes from my side, but it was not. A part of the ceremony was, to give the $$$ to my wifes mother,.... so i did. After the ceremony was over I asked my wife from where the money comes and she said, it was her parents money. Immediately after the ceremony, her parents gave us back the 1.5 Mio as their wedding gift and we spent it together.
Even our relationship broke up later, but she never asked me to pay for anything. When we bought something, we shared. And when we travelled, we shared the costs.
It's not correct to say that Thai people always want Farangs money! No, it's really not!!! Sometimes they give you more than you give to them!

You should not think of how to keep the ants out of the water cooker. It's better to find a way to keep them out of your house. This is what I did and since they aren't in my house anymore they aren't in my water cooker as well. Problem solved!

I did the same mistake before. I forgot to get my re-entry permit. With the 30 days visa on arrival you are now a tourist. Even your WP is not cancelled, but it's not valid anymore, because you are not allowed to work as a TOURIST. You have to start from zero to get a new business visa and a new work permit. Good luck!

To open a 7/11 is the worst investment that anyone can do. If you find a new and great location and the business is going good, after a few months another 7/11 will open in your neighbourhood with exactly the SAME products that you are selling and possibly a Family Mart, Lotus Express, etc.

I just had a chat with the lady who sells Döner Kebab in Pattaya. Her investment was about 50K. All you need is a small kiosk in a good location. With 1 kebab spit per day -she told me- she can sell 180-200 portions which is 10,800 to 12,000 Baht per day. Her daily costs are lower than 4K/per day. It's a monthly profit of more than 200K. Enough for you? If you want to see people who became millionaire by selling Kebab then go to Sukhumvit Soi 5 in Bkk. It's only 20 meters inside the Soi on the right hand side. They offer chicken and beef kebab and soft drinks and within 1 hour they sell approximately 20-25 kebab at 60 Baht each. In only 12 hrs they make about 15-18K plus the drinks.
Brit arrested for theft at Phuket International Airport

IMHO he did NOT steal the money from anyone. He FOUND it at the counter and did not give it to the airport staff. That's a big difference!
