Oh man. .... that's great to know that they dislike that. From now on I would ALWAYS put my stuff under the motorcycle seat, just to make sure that they don't drink your beer and eat your food. That will help you to save a lot of money.

Here my own experience marrying to a HISO-Girl: I'm running an own (good) business here in Thailand and my (Bkk)-gf had a great job (Director in an International company) with a really high salary (a few hundred thousand Baht per month) and parents who own some gas stations, 400 Rai Land, etc. When she got pregnant she asked me to marry her to avoid of losing face and parents faces. I agreed but my condition was, that I will not do any kind of preparations for the ceremony. She agreed. Then I asked her about the Sin-Sord and she answered, that she will ask her mom. And mom'mom's answer was, that she is not going to sell her daughter, (I can marry her but I cannot buy her) therefore I should not think much about that, she said. Later, during the wedding ceremony the leader of the ceremony put 1.5 Mio Baht in a bowl. I really couldn't believe it! And all the guests believed that this cash comes from my side, but it was not. A part of the ceremony was, to give the $$$ to my wifes mother,.... so i did. After the ceremony was over I asked my wife from where the money comes and she said, it was her parents money. Immediately after the ceremony, her parents gave us back the 1.5 Mio as their wedding gift and we spent it together.
Even our relationship broke up later, but she never asked me to pay for anything. When we bought something, we shared. And when we travelled, we shared the costs.
It's not correct to say that Thai people always want Farangs money! No, it's really not!!! Sometimes they give you more than you give to them!

You should not think of how to keep the ants out of the water cooker. It's better to find a way to keep them out of your house. This is what I did and since they aren't in my house anymore they aren't in my water cooker as well. Problem solved!

I did the same mistake before. I forgot to get my re-entry permit. With the 30 days visa on arrival you are now a tourist. Even your WP is not cancelled, but it's not valid anymore, because you are not allowed to work as a TOURIST. You have to start from zero to get a new business visa and a new work permit. Good luck!

To open a 7/11 is the worst investment that anyone can do. If you find a new and great location and the business is going good, after a few months another 7/11 will open in your neighbourhood with exactly the SAME products that you are selling and possibly a Family Mart, Lotus Express, etc.

I just had a chat with the lady who sells Döner Kebab in Pattaya. Her investment was about 50K. All you need is a small kiosk in a good location. With 1 kebab spit per day -she told me- she can sell 180-200 portions which is 10,800 to 12,000 Baht per day. Her daily costs are lower than 4K/per day. It's a monthly profit of more than 200K. Enough for you? If you want to see people who became millionaire by selling Kebab then go to Sukhumvit Soi 5 in Bkk. It's only 20 meters inside the Soi on the right hand side. They offer chicken and beef kebab and soft drinks and within 1 hour they sell approximately 20-25 kebab at 60 Baht each. In only 12 hrs they make about 15-18K plus the drinks.

It looks like a hornets nest. I had the same in my garden. If it doesn't bother you that much then just leave it. Don't chase them and don't try to burn the nest, etc. You can live in harmony with them. After 1 year they are gone and you can remove the nest without danger and keep it in your house as a beautiful trophy etc, or sell it. Especially Thai people like to buy it.

When I stopped at the traffic light with my car at night, I warned a motorcycle driver next to me that he is driving without lights. His answer was: "Don't worry Mister, I can see everything!"
NOTHING TO ADD!

Everyone can attend a language course whenever he/she wants it, no matter what kind of visa he/she has. An ED-ED-Visa allows applicants to stay for a longer period (e.g. many years). Actually,... people who are on an ED VISA and REALLY interested in learning a language, wouldn't complain about the new rule (8 hours in class every week). Only the people who are looking for an easy way to get a long term visa are doing that. They are not interested to learn. All they want is a visa.

When I saw the video I felt so sad and pity with that little boy. I really hope that this axxhole will stick in jail for the next 20 years and the other prisoners will use his head as a punchy ball. Only then he can feel the same pain that the little boy felt.

The time during semester break is the time where Thai parents don't know what to do with their kids. So give them a few baht to go to the next Internet shop playing onine games or to meet friends. I have rarely seen Thai parents doing family activities, playing games together, etc. Even when they go to the beach together the parents sitting in the shadow, eating Somtam and drinking Red Label Whisky.... but not an eye on their kids. They give them a motorcycle and never care if they are wearing helmets or not. Nothing has changed and nothing will change! T.i.T.

Whenever a taxi driver doesn't want to bring a customer to a certain destination he can use the excuse that the destination is too far and that he has to return the car on time to the driver of the next shift. So what can any government department do in this case? NOTHING!.... because it could be TRUE!

Give her a little $$$ (50 or 100K) to dry her tears. If she denies just move out and leave her in the empty house.

Oh my god. .... It's so poor to see the negative comments here. He spends his free time and money to clean the city while others spend their money in bars to screw the bitches. And of course he DOESN'T need a work permit, because no one hired or paid him for that job and the places where he works are public places, not a private property!

Forget to find a list! Attending a Thai language course is the BEST investment you can do. Even just a 20 or 40 hours course helps you a lot. Otherwise the Thais will treat you as a KWAI (buffalo) for the rest of your life in LOS, because you need their help for every little thing. What a shame!

.... the Turkish tourist often came to the bar, got drunk, intimidated the bar's staff and created a scene.
Wowwww. .... what a good business man the manager is. He kills his regular customer.

The age of 4 years or 100,000 km,.... whatever the car reaches first, then it's time to sell it, not to buy it. The humidity and the road conditions in Thailand destroy a vehicle faster than in European countries.

Of course it's illegal what those guys did, so they deserve a punishment. But to send a high amount of money to strange guys or for strange guys who they only know from the Internet deserves a lesson as well. I don't feel pity with that stupid girls. I guess, they earned their money too easy.

Very easy to check that everything is okay with the car.
1. Ask to see the blue book. No original book - No deal!
2. Compare the name of owner in the book with the person who is going to sell the car. Ask for ID card. If that matches then....
3. Make a small cash deposit (e.g. 10,000 Baht) to show your interest in buying that car.
4.Go to the transport department together with the seller and register the car on your name.
5.If everything is done go to your bank with the seller and pay the full amount or give him a cash cheque in exchange with the blue book.
But. .... before you do anything of this go to a garage to check the car. Buying a 2nd hand car is always a risk. Be careful if the car is CHEAP, because normally second hand cars in Thailand are quite expensive. Probably it's better to buy a new one.

The fact is: If ED visa is required not more than for 6 months the students must attend the class 4 times per week and 2 hrs each time. For a 1 year ED visa it's 5 days per week and 2 hrs each time. If Immigration officers come to check and the students are not in class the visa will be canceled.
Asking for the reason the Pattaya Immigration told us, they only want the people applying for ED visa who are REALLY interested in studying and not using the ED visa as a possibility to stay in Thailand in a cheap way. In the past, most of the ED visa students didn't study at all, they said.
As a result of this new law the ED visa fee must increase according to the higher amount of teaching hours (about 70,000 Baht per year) plus the new fees (5,000 Baht) every 3 months to pay at the Immigration. I'm sure that not many people can afford that.

I'm running 2 language schools here in Thailand since 7 years (without having a Thai wife) and here is my advice: Don't listen to anyone. No one knows it exactly. First of all your wife needs a bachelor degree to get a license. Then go with her to the MoE department and ask what they require. Even the officers are very friendly and helpful but you will be lucky if both of you can do what they require. They are very strict, but fair. It's a real hard work to go through the process, because the paperwork is a lot. Don't try to offer tea money to make it easier or faster. It could destroy your plans. I know many people who tried to open a language school. They rented a building, bought all furniture and equipments, hired office staff and teachers, but they weren't able to bring all the documents they requested and to set up everything in the right way (e.g. the building, classrooms, etc). At the end they had to close down the school. Don't expect that anyone is waiting for a farang to open a school. The expectations are very high, the investment is high as well but the course fees are low and if you want to offer quality teaching with well trained teachers (this is what we do) then it's not easy to charge more because of the competitors. Some schools offer individual teaching (1:1) for only 250 Baht per hour. I really don't know how they can survive. To open a bar is much easier. Anyway GOOD LUCK!

The easiest way is to go to any Thai Embassy and apply for a tourist visa.If you get this visa then you shouldn't have a problem to come to Thailand. If you are blacklisted they will refuse your visa.

If the OP would run aan own pub or disco he could understand the policy of that club. A beer or a coke you can drink even you are standing anywhere..... but if you come with friends and wanna open a bottle of Whisky and Champagne then you need and expect a table and a place chair where you can sit.
I had my own discotheque a few years ago and I had the same problem. Some customers come to drink only 1 beer all night but they blocked my chairs and tables while other customers who came to celebrate with friend, buying whisky bottles, ordering food etc cannot find a table. I also asked those guys to move, coz it was my business to make money! Is that so hard to understand?
