Actually since the only money I bring over is my Social security which is not taxable by treaty, and the only money I make here is from my bank interest - of which 15% is held out for taxes - once I get a tax ID and apply all my qualified exemptions I will probably be getting money back. LOL on them.

How do they know? The question is, what are you going to declare and say it is? It's not as though you remit some money to Thailand and the TRD has to guess what it is. The purpose of the tax return is for you to tell them. Their job is to determine if they believe you and whether to ask for more evidence. More of these are used by visitors not living here or staying over 180 days, chasing all the bogus ( for taxing purposes) transactions will be a costly proposition. Then filtering out the taxable transactions will be a nightmare.

Let's say I earn $100k in 2024 but have 5 million in the bank (outside Thailand) at the end of 2023. How do they know which money I am bring into Thailand? 5000000/100000 = 50 years of earnings before 2024!!!

Looking for a hand out? Why should any substantial compensation be coming. If it breaks the airline’s bank, we will all be signing waivers as we buy our tickets from now on. If you buy a house from a builder and the next day a tornado hits your house is the builder responsible? Mother Nature is in play here. Unless there was some kind of pilot error or unless some safety rules were broken by the airline’s flight plan, the passengers should be on their knees thanking the pilots for getting them on the ground in one piece after a freak of nature event. And the stupid passengers who did not comply with the airline suggestion to keep your seat belt on should be banned from flying as when something like this happens it makes the airline look bad when it was the stupid actions of the passengers which is a large contributor to the injuries.

BS, it is NOT not unusual - I have had 1000's of cab rides and know 10's of friends who have also had 100's of cab rides and never has anyone had a cabbie pull a knife. Many time the taxi refuses to use his meter, bad actors but no violence. Your hyperbole is sick.
