  1. Hi Guy,

Thought a few of you might like to know about this.

I am constantly sending funds back and forth due to business and as you know, it Thailand it can take a wee bit of time and you get slaughtered on charges a lot of the time. I have found this application online called MoneyMailMe which is a phone app and it works amazing. Only drawback is you have to have a USD account over here ( I think they are releasing a EUR and GBP version )

Here is the thing, I tried it yesterday and worked perfectly, money here on my phone within ten mins.

Now, I have not gone through it completly yet but does anyone else have experience with this phone App?

  2. I would say the parking lot bash is much closer to real Thainess than what the government is trying to invent.

This is living the dream for many Thais. Loud low quality music, alchohol and a sex charged atmosphere. Basically frat house standards, but embraced by people decades past college age. I am not making a judgement here, they get to choose their sanook.

but I don't think the government is going raise the countries level of sophistication, by imaging that there is a real Thailand just out of grasp, based on some Victorian ideal. You want the country to behave less like children, put some real effort into education and stop making it seem like Thailand has all the answers.

Hardly packed though,is it,one women walking past.Photographers must be desperate if this the best they can do.Plain Jane on the back of an old ute.

wow, you can tell how many people were present in this huge area by one image. As for a plain jane...she looks quite nice to me, who are you dating kim kardashian?

  3. Brick walls are normal but in almost all cases are not weight bearing - there will be beams around house about 3 meters or less from each other and also above walls that hold house and weight. Often these will protrude a bit from normal brick wall if single wall construction. But I can not make a judgement as not my field and probably best to have someone with knowledge of local construction check for you (should not cost that much - in view perhaps of them making repairs later).

excelent advice, thanks for your input and i will do so, thanks a lot

  4. Are you sure about load bearing wall? Normally they are not used in Thailand where construction is post and beam and walls just fill in the gaps. All walls can be removed and building still supports itself.

    hi,

Thanks for the reply, I can only assume that it is a load bearing wall as it is the central wall and build out of brick, but I am not a builder. It is an older house , 10 years old. Here is an image from the outside.,

  5. Hi Guys,

I was hoping somebody could help me, we have been out house hunting for a new fixer upper and we came across the house we like. It is in a bad enough condition to get the price down but i have seen some cracks in the upper floor of the house which are of concern as i think they may be structural and warrant a much larger repair project than I really want as it is a load bearing wall.

There is a large vertical crack along with a horizontal crack which runs along the wall ceiling border, I am thinking this could be due to the foundations or a misaligned truss, could someone avise me on if this crack please. Image attached:

    Thanks in advance.

  6. Tell me is there any shortage of trolls on here, a guy and his family have had everything stolen on them, they are fellow expats and from what i read, just drivel comes out of some people statements, quick and short troll comments, have you guys no intelligence or emphaty, what if it happened to you or your best mate or your family??

2 children locked in a water well and only for a neighbour found them they could have died!

Properties stolen with the full knowledge fo the family lawyer.

Trolls should be banned and their IP blocked in such circumstances. The whole meaning of an expat community is the word Community, a place of support and protection

Just because someone has an opinion that you do not agree with does not make the comment a troll posting.

This man comes to Thailand, starts spending huge amounts of money without any understanding of what he is getting into an still believed he owned something.

He was destined to become a victim the moment he stepped off the plane, and there will be many more behind him.

Yes I feel sorry for him, but before splashing out huge sums of money in a foreign land he needs to read up and understand what due diligence is all about.

firsly, he well understands what diligence is, his lawyer was involved in the scams, secondly, troll posts are generally negative and smart arsed 1 comment negative posts , so no yours is not, yours is an opinion which i am happy to reply to, have a nice day.
