  1. After living in the Philippines for 3 years, I find common knowledge to be at a far higher level in Thailand. The Filipina takes pride in telling you that she is "simple". Knowledge is not valued there like it is in the West. I had a Filipina g/f that graduated at the top of the class from the University of Cebu in Accounting. Yet she struggled to solve "what is 10% of 100". When I questioned her about it, she said it was a difficult equation with out a calculator.

  2. Yesterday I shipped my 300 SYM from Kho Samui to Pattaya by the Post Office. I was at the Pao at 830 AM when it opened and was finished in 45 min. The shipping was 4,200. and the insurance was 1000 baht. Very easy. I gave the man an extra 500 the wrap it well for shipping. They had many different sizes of boxes to ship other item if needed-some very big. I think they will ship anything. They said one week to arrive in Pattaya.

  3. 3000 odd baht for an Apple TV at MBK, $10/month for an IP and DNS package, $8 per month for a Netflix package = all the telly you could ever want.

I also have Apple TV and very happy with it but Netflix is not offered in Thailand. Are you able to get it in Thai?

  4. Thank you for the post Andrew. I found it interesting and now want to know more about the Burmese Wars. Being an American, I really didn't learn about the British wars with the exception of the one in 1776 against the "Colonies". I was surprised the Thais had the technology to cast a cannon back in 1623. When I toured the King's armory in BKK I noticed the majority of cannons were of British manufacture with a few from the USA.
