Is there a limit for this application? I mean for sending funds from Thailand to the UK.
You can make a foreign transfer from a Thai bank to your Transferwise account, as long as they both have different account holder names.

So all in all, I am far from amused at the prospect of having to tinker with my UK account payee details one way or another solely on account of a bloody name change.????
You are jumping to a lot of conclusions. That can't be good for your blood pressure. They will no doubt keep such details the same in order to minimize both inconvenience to their customers and their own support burden.

If the performance of the Aeropex is anything to go by you should be well happy with the Xtrainerz. Obviously you are still going to get the glugging noises in the ears unless you wear earplugs as well.
Right. It would be interesting to see if they would still be useable with the presumably louder noise from one of those Endless Pool / counter current swimming machines. But, yes, earplugs probably required in both cases.
4 minutes ago, Crossy said:The Aeropex has a 2 year warranty, one assumes (dangerous I know) that the Xtrainerz are similar.
Yes, that appears to be the case. Thanks Crossy.

I like to listen to audiobooks while swimming for 90 minutes every day, so, I have tried every type of swimming MP3 player I could get my hands on.
I was recently intrigued to discover the swimming version of these bone conduction headphones, the AfterShokz Xtrainerz. The Lazada price of around 5,500 THB would be well worth it if the sound is clear and they last for at least a year. Just a pity they wouldn't be able to connect to my Apple Watch via Bluetooth.
My usual (non-swimming) earphones are my Airpods Pro, just wonderful, far better than my Bose QC35 noise canceling headphones.

Oh yeah, for sure. They can barely win as a united party. They would not have won against any other candidate in 2016.
My hunch is that Trump doesn't want to be the leader of some new party, he would rather remain a big beast within the GoP so that all future candidates have to at least go through the motions of honoring him. I wouldn't be surprised if he leveraged his hardcore supporters and his enduring media prominence into some sort of media play of his own, possibly filling the vacuum left by Fox and grabbing 20% of Twitter's audience too.
That would give him a real powerbase within the party, and would be enough for him, emotionally. I don't believe he intends to run again. He will keep hinting that he might but he won't. Continuing to be a celebrity and media barron would be more satisfying.
He might not have the money to set up an operation of the necessary scale and quality. He would get a big and loyal audience, sure, but the available advertisers would not have reliable enough budgets. A purely Internet-based operation would also be vulnerable to corporate censorship. That won't be attractive to Hannity or any other big talent.
So, we will have a non-split Republican party somewhat distracted by having to manage a small a loud but mostly powerless layer of Trumpist activists in each state, very much like the Tea Party situation, but unambiguously coordinated by a news network and lasting longer, probably until Trump dies.
32 minutes ago, earlinclaifornia said:My one question is will he choose Lindell or Green or maybe Flynn?
He won't get to be kingmaker. Part of the understanding Trump will have to reach with the party, for partial rehabilitation and so that his media network won't be entirely isolated, is that their next presidential candidate will be someone identified as having broken with Trump on principle. Pence. Probably with Nikki Haley for vice.

If you don't find a member here willing to take them on, I recommend getting your wife, if she is Thai, to make a short phone video, with lots of cute shots of the cats and the baby, and a voiceover explaining the problem. Don't include any mention that a farang is involved.
It may seem like a long shot, but that sort of video will get a lot of attention on social media, especially from cat lovers, and Thais can be very kind when they understand that there is a real problem.
My partner's daughter successfully used this method to rehome a dog she loved but was unable to handle.

Yes, good place but one of the guys there has a reputation for suggesting unnecessary work. Best to ask for a specific dentist and that is why reading the threads is so useful.

Most Thais living in the UK have to pay a NHS surcharge in order to use the NHS.
Not to get the vaccine shots or deal with any associated issues.
The UK government have said they want as many people as possible to get vaccinated, as a public health priority. They have a big population of illegals, no one knows exactly how many. A guy called Nigel Farage tried to count them but the boat he was in kept moving.

Ah.
21 minutes ago, rioD said:a risky vaccination that they (the producers) admit doesn't cure or provide any form of immunity
I think you'll find that, outside conspiracy la-la-land, one of their key selling points is that vaccines reduce your chance of developing Covid-19 and, if you do, is almost certainly going to stop you needing to be hospitalized or, indeed, dying from Covid-19.
21 minutes ago, rioD said:Vaccinated sheep are still wearing mask
Yup. We have only vaccinated a small percentage of the population. It is vital that the rules mandating mask use, for the safety of others, remain in force because there may be some delusional idiots who don't care about the safety of others.
Once vaccines reach general availability, and most people are vaccinated, and infections drop below 0.1% again, mask use will naturally end.
21 minutes ago, rioD said:and forced to adhere to the same restrictions as the unvaccinated
Well, there are some notable ways in which you will be restricted and I won't. I will be able to fly in airplanes. I will be able to visit foreign countries. I have a growing suspicion that the quality of other expats I meet in Thailand is about to significantly improve.

30 years, many dentists, none really fluent but most enough to get it done.
From among the main dentists recommended on this forum? I'm surprised.
I am aware that there are lots of dentists focused on the Thai market. My partner originally brought me to the one she uses but she had no English and, for some reason, I was unable to get an answer to an important question asked via my partner (who is a native Thai and a fluent English speaker).
So, I searched on this forum and discovered about a dozen practices that specialize in serving expats and tourists. They charge a premium but speak fluent English. I might have guessed that I would opt for the cheapest possible option but, actually, I realized that good English was so important that it was worth paying the extra.

I have zero respect for TAT but, if you think about it, after a grim year of lockdown, the demand is certainly there for exotic foreign vacations.
It goes without saying, the testing, insurance, and quarantine requirements are a non-starter. Any quarantine at all, even reduced to 7 nights or whatever, means no actual tourists, just a trickle of desperate guys trying to get back to their girlfriends.
If, however, they replace those requirements with a simple requirement that all visitors have completed a full course of vaccination at least two weeks before arrival, well, in that case, they could start opening up to certain countries, such as Israel, by April.
So far, China has vaccinated only 60 million, Japan hardly any, and South Korea I don't know. By the Summer, however, the picture is likely to be far better. There might be a billion people around the world, mainly clustered in populations that tend to visit Thailand, who will have completed their course of vaccination.
At full capacity, Thailand was supposedly serving 40 million tourists per year. If the demand is there, and if entry is easy again, I don't see why they wouldn't be able to manage ten million over the second half of this year.

Airlines are going to compromise and or ruin their business for the sake of big pharma.
Who suggested the airlines were doing anything for the pharma companies? The airlines will be responding to pressure from the vast majority of their own passengers. Quite simply, the industry will struggle to get back up to capacity and they know that the passengers crammed into their tin cans need to feel safe.29 minutes ago, rioD said:One airline mentioned that nonsense and had no support form any other carriers in that industry.
You must be reading very different sources from mine. The CEO of Qantas said there was unanimous support for it (vaccination verification for adult passengers on international flights) among the fellow airline CEOs he had talked to, and the CEO of Delta publicly agreed.37 minutes ago, rioD said:The vaccine nonsense simply isn't as successful as they imagined it would be.
The hilarious reality is that you, and all the other anti-vax warriors on this forum, will quietly tiptoe off to get your own "nonsense" jabs once you realize that your ability to travel or live abroad with disappear if you don't. Vaccines are going to be more popular than biscuits.

That's exactly what you should do. The volatility makes my head spin but I've made a conscious decision not to get into the game of playing the highs and lows. Perhaps I'm an idiot but I'm going to just let it do its thing for a year or two.
You probably already know, but I'll just mention this for anyone who might be unsure. There is no need to buy an entire Bitcoin for 50k, you can buy as little or as much Bitcoin as you want.

So I buy one Bitcoin for $50k and in 10 months it's worth 4 times that, too easy, where have I been ?
Like the rest of us, you have been in 2020, watching the world being turned upside down, and every government printing money like crazy to keep the whole damn game afloat.
4 times is nothing. If you bought Bitcoin 10 months ago, your money would now have multiplied by 10 times.

Will it be worth $500,000 in 2030 or $1,000, if the latter I won't feel too bad.
I would be pretty surprised if, by 2030, it only reached 500k.
I'm guessing 60k by the end of this month, 200k by the end of this year. I then expect the economic consequences of unprecedented money-printing to manifest even more severely in 2022, so, 500k by the end of that tumultuous year or, at least, the first half of this decade isn't so far fetched.

Maybe set buy orders. In my experience, those deep dips are fleeting. I suspect most of the successful purchases are buy orders rather than humans who notice and manage to submit their order at exactly the right moment.
35 minutes ago, jesimps said:I expect another one will come along in the not to distant future, although investing for the long term it hardly matters.
Yes. On balance, once you have decided that the fundamental arguments for Bitcoins rise are solid, and that it makes greater sense for the coming year than fiat or other assets, the important thing is to get in there. The question of whether you hold back in hope of a better price is a separate gamble. I don't think I have ever got my timing quite right, but it has always worked out okay in the end.

Now 42.2, nice to see it getting stronger against THB, Euro and dollar
Surprisingly good execution on vaccinating their population. It appears that the UK will get back to a fully-functioning economy at least half-a-year ahead of the EU.
That performance, in such a crucial area, is lifting confidence that the UK will now outpace the EU in other ways. That will increase international engagement and investment. It also significantly alters the math on what appeared to be the EU's intention to crush the UK economy. The support for that approach may be harder to maintain if it cannot be done quickly, so, they may need to rethink it.
The dollar is the one to watch now. Their vaccination effort is also going well but the current level of money-printing may undermine the dollar's position as the world's default currency. If that starts to slip, they could be in big trouble. We may start seeing a lot of GoFundMe appeals from American expats who can no longer afford their girlfriends.

Bitcoin drops after climbing to all-time high

Yes, I have discovered that talking to people too and that's one of the things that makes me so bullish on Bitcoin's future prospects. Once you explain that they can dip their toe in the water with a small amount and that, when they login to their exchange, they will see their account's current value in their own currency, it seems to grab their imagination. The idea then spreads like wildfire among groups of friends, with everyone sticking in a few quid to join in the fun.
In the case of guys who have known about Bitcoin for years but never dabbled, I get the sense that it is a relief to just finally have something riding on it rather than standing on the outside, bitterly muttering about ponzi schemes and celebrities.
