For those over 50 years old is it mandatory to have health insurance in Thailand?
I am going to travel for 3 months in Bangkok. Is it mandatory to pay private health insurance in Thailand or not?
If you get knocked down by a mad taxi driver or motorcycle expect a nice £20k bill from the hospital. Is it not worth paying for it ?

ATM do we know if enter visa exempt from uk ,60 days ,will a border run be an additional 60 or will they restrict it to 30

Sandy f
if you look at the OP you will see that he has a gmail account not MS and so therefore MS would not contact him Google would Correct??
-
So if get VOA for 60 days and can extend by 30 days .Do you think a border run will be another 60 days or will they cap it at 30 .Two border runs and can stay over 6 months at a time ?

They were serving food at the time so everyone should have been seated and wearing a seat belt .I wonder if they have the technology to check this?

And 850k for rural land is expensive, all depending on chanote, road access, elecricity, distance to center of village and district capital.
There was a slightly larger plot but more rural for 1.6 million so I made a judgement that it was a good price .Only 5 minutes drive from the main road to udon Thani and the neighbors are all professional workers
-
You get what you pay for and as life is cheaper in the rural areas save enough money to have the odd excursion to a city .Just purchased very large ,over 1 rai, land in rural area for 850k whereas smaller land plot next to my house in Pathum Thani sold for several million

I’m pretty sure that when I got my Evisa in uk they didn’t ask for flight details so maybe a VPN method would work
I meant a copy of the ticket

That is also as I understand it, though I have been asked in the past to show 'documentation' or a 'link' which highlights this and I have been unable to source such information - the specific regulations remain rather vague or inaccessible.
However, as I understand it:
IF a foreigner is in Thailand on a Resident Visa (i.e. Non Immigrant Visa), they must get a Thai Driving License within 90 days.
This ties in with the general understanding that an IDP (accompanied by your national DL) is valid for 90 days from entry into Thailand..
The actual validity of the IDP: 1948 for 12 months and 1968 for 36 months - thats because they can also be used when travelling to 'another country' - but thats not the same as 'validity from first date of entry into Thailand.
When I said 3 years I was referring th its end date not the notion that you can drive in Thailand for 3 years. When I return next year it will obviously still be valid

Although the IDP is valid for 3 years
..The IDP itself is valid for 12 months. However, the country you are visiting may demand a local licence if you stay more than a certain time. I believe it is 3 months in most countries, including Thailand.
I think if you stay on a non o extension you have to get a Thai license,I think you are right and IDP only allowed if on tourist or visa exempt

Point taken, but I'd settle for the legally correct answer. Can a Brit, by treaty, legally drive in Thailand using a valid British DL, for how long, and is an IDP required?
Millions may get away with breaking the law, but they occasionally get caught out when they end up in the hospital and their insurance company denies cover because they were driving illegally. Or if they get pulled over by the wrong cop. Also, the "legally correct" answer will probably make the difference when they rock up to a rental car kiosk at the airport.
In years past, we'd have gotten a definitive answer on TVF. Then the flame wars would start.
Paid £5 for my IDP in uk valid for 3 years so no excuse for any uk citizen not to have one

Was much easier this time and got mine within a day .Had to supply wife’s ID card,as in staying at her house ,as an additional document after submitting
-
Yes £38k a year .Luckily I have done a lot of OT this year so just sneak through
-
That will be my local IO and I will probably need one to open a bank account so not great news lol
-
Can we just clarify if a multiple entry non o is available in the uk .I thought it wasn’t
-
My main reason for this idea is that I can maintain a uk residence so won’t have any bank account issues and I will also receive,a few years ahead, the state pension increases .It also takes away the issue of opening a Thai bank account with all the current issues

If I wanted to split my time between the uk and Thailand and used the non o marriage visa .Can I use a non o for say 90 days and return to uk then maybe a few months later return on another non o .Are there any rules stopping multiple non o visas
-
When I done this about 10 years ago my biggest issue was the English test .All the test centres seemed to only offer tests at a far higher standard then was required and I couldn’t find one that just did the A1 test .Eventually after fairly twice we did the test in the uk ( on tourist visa)

Don’t you enter your passport details on the ticket ?

No, I'm being accurate. Also I put the "winky" emoji to indicate that my comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek.
But up to you if you want to get all sad and confused about it, mai bpen rai.
No problem but the OP is clearly a uk citizen
