  1. At least till the present deadline expires.??

They were give 7 days and have until next Tuesday. They were told if they did not self-demolish, then the authorities would do so, AND they would FACE PROSECUTION.

So is there any sign of activity from the big fish (apart from preparing the large brown envelopes, I mean)? If not, then we might as well all go home and forget it.

  2. Forget about Rawai/Nai Harn, or anywhere south of Heroine's monument. It is congested, hard to drive anywhere, and full of Filtph (failed in london, try phuket) If you are from HK and have a chinese wife then look to live in or near the Laguna/bangtao or Layan area where you will meet more like-minded people and be near a beach (Layan end) which will be relatively unspoiled at least for a few more years.

It's a no-brainer. Trust me on this. Bonus - Central will build a central festival soon in Cherngtalay. You will only need to head south for hospital visits, and absolutely no other reason.

  3. I will be staying in Nai Yang for 3 days next week, and life is too short to eat crap food.

Where is the best pizza up there, and where is the best Thai food on or near the beach? Don't all rush at once........

  4. Cherngtalay Restos

It's a given that the Sunset Restaurant (beside the Black Cat) is probably the best local thai restaurant in the area, and best value for money. Full of half locals half tourists. Also good is the Farang (at Lemongrass House). On the beach the Laypang and Lotus are good, but beach pricey..

Any other recommendations in the immediate area similar to Sunset?

  5. "You learn something everyday... I thought it was called a Gin's handbag ( not sure about the spelling)"

There's no such thing as a gin's handbag, as that would make no sense at all, and is clearly not funny on any level or in any way, and not clever, hip or smart, so nobody would ever say that in intelligent company. It is an abo's handbag. Take it from me, I visit Darwin regularly

Xylo and grant - you jokers need to get over your own pretentiousness. Grant- how about 19%, or 18? why don't you drop a note to the winemaker, or anyone else who might be able to change the mix to your pleasure

  6. "Seriously, IMO the Berri Estate is ok for the everyday glass or two."

Oh dear old boy, I think I will need to take all of your advice up to this point with a large pinch of salt, if you are in any way advocating the "Abo's briefcase" as in any way a half decent tipple. Perhaps you're just an opinionated barroom bore cheap charlie. A connoisseur of the bottom rung. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.
