What's sickening is that people want to adopt a dog from a 3rd world nation because it's trendy and looks good on social media.

Plenty of dogs in the pound in the U.S and Europe but that wouldn't garner enough social media credibility.

Wasted money and resources to inflate their own self worth.

Thailand needs to educate and cull the feral animals. Expat activists should direct their energy to education locals otherwise they will be forever scooping animals off the side of the road.

Year after year Soi dog foundation struggles and hasn't made a dent into the problem.

Well with covid19 destroying the economy, I imagine that the profit of sending these dogs off to China and Vietnam will prove too tempting for even the most faithful Buddhists

But then again he would say that..............

I actually think that it is a great time to lowball people wanting to get out. Phuket should recover in about 5 years. However I think that Patong, Nai Harn, Bang Tao area will still be very very overpriced. You are best off investing in Phuket Town, Chalong, some parts of Rawaii for houses. Kata and Karon for commercial properties is really good value now.

    And will you buy one?

For sure, there was one I missed out on down in Rawaii. Just the land for 1.5 million baht...thats unbelievable.

Great time to invest in real estate now

Well we can only hope that they are wrong again, although it seems as though one hand doesn't know what the other is doing, but since when has that been new news to anyone who lives here!

I've got friends in the UK, Canada and Australia who are just longing to get back here, but have just about abandoned all hope for at least the next six months, so I hope they are wrong.

Locally, it's pitiful seeing the queues of people, waiting in line for their food handout, and it's also pitiful to see more and more small businesses closing.

My favourite Italian restaurant had been hanging on, but was forced to close a few days ago because of lack of custom, that and the fact that his landlord, who had kindly reduced his rent by 50%, then wanted to put it back up to the full amount – – no go with just one or two customers a night.

That was a bit of a bummer because I was planning to go out tomorrow evening with a couple of friends and dine at that very restaurant, so I'm now looking at other places in which to eat, and enquiring at the Wine Connection, I was told that they closed at 8 PM, which doesn't give much leeway as regards eating, drinking and then going out to meander around an almost empty Bangla.

More shops have closed in Jungceylon and the shoppers in Big C seem to be dwindling as the days go on.

A friend of mine said just recently that some people were making big money out of this lockdown, but I can't see how this can be the case. Sure the wealthy folk may be out and about snapping up bargain properties in order to rent them out again, but I haven't seen much of that, nor of any "bargain properties".

Plenty of bargain properties around now

  5. Looking for some help.

Been around to about every garden place on Phuket and can't find Aloe Vera plants.

Anyone see them around or have it growing? I can graft it off an existing plant but yet to spot one.

    TIA.

  6. Hardly surprising looking at what has been done to the hillside along that road, although I would have not thought that particular location was the most likely to have issues.
That whole hill area is just sand. Nothing solid for foundations.
I showed some lands around there and due diligence has rarely passed without some under the table trickery or you're someone with power for building approval.
Nothing is legal around there but I won't mention names.
Titles are dubious to say the least.

Won't be long until we see a hotel on the road.

  7. I'd like to know the nationality of the scammers.  To carry out an effective scam (27 billion baht seems to show it's effective) needs knowledge of the written and spoken language, plus an insight of the culture and mindset to craft the perfect temptation.
    It's Chinese of course.
Chinese rarely trust outsiders with investments.
Thais just don't want more negative Chinese publicity.

Well your partially right....The relaxing and legalization of marijuana is a world wide phenomenon....Who ever they are that are directing this they can dictate policy above any government....And any one with that much power you can be sure they already have more money than is imaginable so legalization has very little to do with money...

Governments and police have been happily filling jails and making tons of money from asset forfeiture and payoffs for decades from illegal marijuana do you think they want to see this change? Heck-No .....
My point was that look at the speed this is being pushed through.
Nothing in Thailand has moved this fast.
Someone is pushing this through and it not about caring for patients.
