It isn't so good if Jomtiem is not your final destination, they can drop you at the flyover (Hwy 7 and Suk) for central Pattaya but that isn't so great.

Take the bus to the Jomtien terminal, cross the road, then take any bahtbus going up the hill to South or Central or North Pattaya for 10B (20B beyond Central Road).

When the SA KAEO internet man comes round he runs a standard speedtest which states 150mbps....I think my issue is when I leave Thailand -  I also notice that it is worse between the 18:30 and 20:30....proabably standard.

When the technicians do speed tests they do them to Bangkok as that is all that they will guarantee. Speeds outside of Thailand will invariably be slower and with cheaper packages will probably be very slow.

Singapore is somewhat different as the peering arrangements are usually better to there, so that is where you should set your VPN exit point to.

  3. The white box is a converter. It is a very simple device.

If you look in the setup pages of the AIS router you will probably find that there is a PPPoE connection set up with a login and password. The AIS router may use some other method of logging in rather than PPPoE but either way you would need to set up a similar connection in the Asus router in order for it to work.

However, in this particular case, no one was required to come to my condo to resolve the problem - and this is very typical.  Normally, all that is required from a support standpoint is to have someone "on call" who can remotely diagnose the source of the problem, and who can also very often resolve the problem remotely, and quickly.

Sophon is a small local company with a fairly good reputation for prompt service. But even the best small company can have glitches due to holidays, staff shortages and breakdowns, and a breakdown or other problem in a small company can put their entire system out.

If that is an issue for you then it sounds as though you should be with a big national provider that can afford to have many redundant backup systems and staff on call all day and all night all year. But by all accounts you probably wont actually get much better service from most of them either.

  5. You asked the same question the other day in the real estate forum. Are you hoping for a different answer?

Basically the condo act doesnt apply, there is no "village act", and so the village can do what it wants.

True enough, and thanks for your observation here, but no internet provider should assume that their customers should be willing to wait out an outage, for any reason - any more than PEA should assume that customers can live without electricity during a holiday.

No power is one thing. No internet is another. No one ever died from a lack of TV torrents or Facebook or Youtube (as far as I know).

Even in Europe you would be unlikely to get any internet repair service coming out on Easter or Christmas etc., even if the call centre has some sort of token staff working.

I do see your point though.

Doing another order instead of asking me if the restaurant has confirmed the order (they never do) the message just said --

    CONFIRM ORDER.

    Much better.

I find that even more cryptic than the original.

Does it mean that the order is confirmed or that they want you to confirm the order?

here it is, noon, Tuesday, July 16th, and my internet has again been down and out since last night, and I can't reach your people using any of the methods you mention above.

Two of the biggest Buddha days of the year. Wait till Thursday.

If you go to some business, Tesco, a restaurant, whatever, buy somethings, leave, the employee steals the money, does someone come back to you later and say you need to pay again or give the stuff back?  No, their agent that they hired, stole from them, not from you.

It all depends on whether or not the agent is actually a real one and has a valid contract with the owner.

It is far from unheard of for so-called "agents" just to be someone who happens to have a key to a unit that they know to be empty.

It is also quite common for real agents with real contracts to let units out without ever telling the owner about it and then pocketing the money.

Scams of all types abound here and anyone who says otherwise is a fool.

Long story short, if the new window is same (or very close) design and color, I have the management blessing.

This is what one would expect. It is what happens in my building.

Last problem now is to find a slide double glazing window.

That may be interesting for you.

Your first hurdle will be the question of uPVC or aluminium. The frames you are replacing will probably be aluminium so uPVC frames will be a lot thicker and so wont look much like the originals. Frame colour may also be an issue unless the originals were white. Matching glass tints is much easier.

It is quite easy to find imported aluminium frames at insane prices, but may be much harder to find local ones at sensible prices. Colour matching is also much easier with aluminium.
