  1. Do any of you learned locals know where my wife can buy rubber tree sawdust for delivery to Chaiyaphum? Currently she has it trucked from the south and naturally the freight costs are high.

Looking to buy larger tipper type truck load at a time and thought someone may know of a local supplier.

BTW this is for her mushroom farm.

    Many thanks!

  2. Anyone else see the ilikehd facebook page?

I'm just getting 'page cannot be found'

    You and me both.

Looks like they've taken it down, they can't cut the flak anymore it seems. Also now not answering emails, whereas for the past year or more I was getting very prompt replies. They must have run out of "it's not our fault" excuses....

Last night I went through the package I have just to see what was working or not. Probably 20% of what I'm paying to be able to view wasn't available.

Maybe the writing is on the wall.

  3. My love affair with ILikeHD is almost over. Way too unstable. Video stuttering while the audio keeps time. Stations disappearing. General buffering all over the place. Compare how Thai ExpatTV and Netflix handles things. Not sure if I'll pay this month. What a pity.

I am getting the same feeling...

There was a period where they had a high percentage of stable channels but recently I am suffering the same frustrations.

There is nothing worse than having to constantly reset the ISP.

Had one channel last night with picture but no sound.

    +2

    +3

  4. Just checked...

All Sky Sports are streaming in 720 HD.

Whereas up until June 1 they were in 1080 Full HD. I can certainly tell the difference in quality on my TV.

I never used to get 1080 on Sky Sports, it was always 720. The only channel with 1080 was CTH Channel 6, and the difference in picture and sound quality was incredible.

I definitely has 1080, noticed a vast difference when they dropped it back to 720, so emailed them to enquire and they confirmed that they had dropped back to 720.

  5. I did it for the first time today. After reading different forum threads I lodged the application around midday using Internet Explorer without hiccups. Very straight forward.

Received an email from immigration around 4pm saying it was approved. Without thinking I opened the link they provided in the email in Firefox to print the next appointment form and it worked, no issues.

    Good stuff!

  6. I am still getting Sky Sports with English/UK Premium Package? (iLikeHD)

Yes, but not HD, is what OP was pissed off with.

Exactly and when they recently had problems with Premier Sports and I contacted them, they simply said that they were considering removing it from their offerings (It shows all the NRL games from Australia live). Fortunately, after some backwards and forwards banter with them the seem to have "resolved" the problem rather than taking the easy way out.

As said, they do communicate well, but as they have reminded me before, If I don't like it, go elsewhere. Where though??

  7. I've just had email confirmation that since today there is no longer HD streaming of any of the SkySports channels. Picture is now very ordinary. Their customer service is prompt and courteous, but I'm getting tired of their excuses for reduced services.

  8. Is there any update on this topic? I usually do my 90 day report in Pattaya (which is also my registered address with immigration) but will be travelling extensively throughout Thailand for the next year and probably not returning to Pattaya much in that period. Be very convenient if I can visit the immigration office in whatever Province I'm in and they scan the barcode and print out a new form.

    Many thanks

  9. Lived there in Northpoint for many years and loved it. Nice 3br unit, beachfront and was give or take 100,000 baht/month.

Buying a unit there would have been 25m and up I think. I highly doubt they went down in price over the years.

Overall I am glad I didn't buy as the building suddenly felt like the 'russian embassy' and we were somewhat happy to move out.

The Russians are mostly gone now and prices have dropped a little I think you will find. I have a 3 bed 132 sqm. on a high floor you can have for 21.9 million with a long term tenant paying 90k a month.

Doesn't happen to be on the 36th or 38th floor? wink.png

No, it's not on either of those floors.

  11. I ordered a battery for a Canon camera from Aliexpress which was 4 times the price if I had bought it locally. It took a long time to arrive (over - I think from memory - the 30 or 35 days they promised). The explanation was that it couldn't be mailed direct from China to Thailand. When it did arrive I could see it had been sent from China to Sweden and then to Thailand.

I was offered a 50% rebate because it exceeded their "promised" delivery time frame. When accepted I was told that the rebate would come direct from the supplier. I'm still waiting 2 years later....

  12. Just did the same "escape" from Pattaya. Look at the Sand Dunes Chaolao Beach Resort Chantaburi. Plenty of great seafood restaurants nearby if not into overpriced resort restaurants.

this interested me initially but Googling revealed many many mixed reviews about the place.

As I did and initially thought it was over priced when suddenly there was a 50% discount on Agoda, which made it more attractive. They are still finalising construction on minor items and given the typical Thai construction methods and finishes, it will deteriorate quickly.

We had an ocean view room in one of the front buildings that also overlooked the swimming pools and it was brilliant. My only complaint was when we tried to dine at the restaurant and the standard of (untrained) service was deplorable at best and 50% of the menu was "no hab". There was only a very limited selection of alcoholic beverages available.

We would go back because of the location and if the price was right, but now knowing the limitations of the resort.

Has anyone stayed at the Marriott Resort that is on the beach in Rayong? Any reports?

  13. Try Nissan instead , Sukhumvit , they are nice to talk to , they are used to foreigners there.

Not my experience a couple of years back. No English spoken on the Saturday we visited and staff actually ducked for cover scared they were going to get spoken to. Anyway, my Thai is passable and, yes they did have the car, no freebies or dicount and no we could not test drive.

Off to March Nissan at Laem Chabang (still Sukhumvit), still limited English but car we wanted available withing 72 hours (by obtaining from another dealer) discount, lot's of freebies and a test drive for as long as we needed.

Perhaps we were unlucky with the sales person we struck at Nissan Pattaya. Their loss Nissan Laem Chabangs gain.

  14. the fireworjs in pattaya this year was pretty much a non event compared to previous years in previous years the pattaya countdown went for 7 nights this year it only went for 3 nights

in previous years pattaya fireworks would be 10 times better than in sydney australia

    Of course they were....
