  1. Try the exchange Kiosk in Jomtien opposite Shenanigans. Near the archway proclaiming Pattaya is the city of something....or other.

He also gives the best rates against any currency I have seen all over town. If the best being offered is X.10 he has X.11.

Also try the exchange upstairs in the old Tops building on the corner of Klang/Sai Song. Another branch of theirs is in Walking Street opposite side of the road and not far from McDonalds. They were the only ones in town I could find that had HKD recently.

As an aside when in Macau recently HKD was accepted readily, but they mostly offered change in MOP. Had to insist on HKD for change knowing that it's regarded as Monopoly money elsewhere.

  2. My advise to you is; contact callcenter and tell them, you need to use your card abroad. They will guide you so it's possible.

    I have K-card myself and 2 weeks ago,i was i HCMC coz of visa-stamp.

I went to K-bank and told them, that i would need acces to my card in Vietnam.

They (K-bank),told me to outside and register abroad-use on the ATM,but of course it was not possible, coz the shit didn't worked.

I went into the bank again and explained the problem and callcenter was called on phone.

They need to know how many days you're outside Thailand and need acces to the card.

    Callcenter is; 02888888

Have your card,bankaccount-no and passport ready.

    Hope this can help you

Correct. Your branch is useless and tell you to call the call centre. Call centre speak perfect English and ask you relevant ID and account questions. Tell them where you are going and what dates.

Used K-Card recently in Hong Kong no issues. The ATM at the bank you use overseas must have a PLUS logo on it.

  3. Did my 90 day yesterday pm.........there were 20 ahead of me.....so it took an hour.....but hey ho....

the Immigration people have it "all to do"....

It's just a matter of "Jai Yen Yen" this time of the year......usually I am in and out in 5 minutes

I guess it could help if they had one officer dealing with "bar coded" renewals only......"as a lot of yesterdays delay was caused by two applicants with complications

In general the service at Immigration is so. Much better than a year or so ago.......

    Good on them ?

The female officer who does the 90 days has been there for many years. Next time strike a friendly chat for her to remember you and you will not even need a ticket.

I no longer need the ticket or to wait, she knows me from past chats, when sees me, just waives me over, takes passport, quick scan, print and all donebiggrin.png

So, all the people that may know or not know the same immigration officer, but who have followed correct procedure and are waiting patiently for their turn are queue jumped by you because what? You are more important, or have you been living here too long and have the Thai "me first" disease?

Take a ticket and wait in the queue.

  4. Know you wanted Pattaya, though having eaten in most of the places around Jomtien, The best roast pork meal is Shenanigan's.

The roast potato's need some improvement, though everything else is fine (lovely crackling).

I've eaten in some of the Pattaya restaurants over the years, nothing compelled me to go back.

Are you referring to Shenanigan's in the Avenue complex ???? Been closed for quite some time.

The replacement, an American style, will probably follow down the gurgler soon.

    Just my opinion.

There's been a Shenanigans in Jomtien for a long time, which is the one I think the poster is referring to.

  5. there is no fassina pharmacy on pattaya klang but there is a fascino pharmacy on CENTRAL ROAD situated between soi 14 and bests supermarket good luck.

Obviously a poster with a great grasp of the Thai language. Err.... what do you think "KLANG" means when translated from Thai to English?

  6. For example: Was wandering around a shopping centre yesterday where Hondas were on display with 0% deposit. On the 78,000 Baht PCX (+ all the add ons to get it on the road) the quoted rate was 3,342 Baht a month over 3 years. That made the bike over 120,000 Baht.

    Cash is king!

  7. Yet another troll post from the resident troll.rolleyes.gif

Well done I love to see the sharpest pencil in the pencil case, have you ever thought that if you did not have fodder to feed of then your sad life might be more vacant than it is now.You must be a hawk waiting for prey. You and the others keep this miserable site going.

A translation would be good , thanks in advance

Translation: He means that every topic you participate in you area know all <deleted>. Understand now?

  8. No its motorway and you can't take a motorbike on it, you will have to go through Laem Chabang, Sri Rachara up the sukhumvit rd etc

Wrong.... Motorway where you cannot ride bikes starts at the toll gates way past the Chonburi exit. Anyway, you can use the new service road running parallel to the highway all the way to the Khao Kheow Zoo overpass.

  9. The worsening traffic situation in Pattaya was one of the main reasons I left, it's a total disaster!!

I just had to spend 4 days there again unfortunately and could not wait to leave, it will only continue to get worse!!

Unfortunately, this is true for most cities here. Growing population, more cars, etc....

The traffic never bothers me, but that's because I'm not adding to the problem and riding a scooter instead. I don't understand how people can drive cars around this town. I haven't missed having a car in 10 years here.

Err.... because people have families and don't want to go 4 or 5 up on a bike like Thai's do. Because they don't want to get wet or hot. Because they have a boot full of groceries or other things they need to transport. Because they may live on the "dark side" or north/south of Pattaya and a car is a safer option. Because they need and use cars to conduct their business. Because.... Oh, why bother to try to explain...

  10. First Optic is the name of the shop you are referring to. Great service, great prices.\

All this guy has to do is try a few of the suggestions,he will undoubtedly be disappointed on price and service, the girls it the top whatever are only good at showing their arse through the tight fitting pants ,Euro whatever will sting you 5 times over for a service a one man outfit who is excellent in eye testing service quality and after sales all at no cost try option 5

I will guarantee it with free spectacles

  11. No contest. First Optic in Pattaya Sai Song 16, but close to the traffic lights where it intersects Pattaya 3rd Road.

I wear bifocals and went to Euro Optic and was quoted almost 30,000 a pair.

First Optic (recommended by other forum members in previous threads) was fast, efficient, courteous and English speaking.

For less than 12,000 I got a pair of bifocals in titanium frames, a new set of lens in existing frames and a pair of single vision (for computer use only) in Nikon frames. So basically 3 pairs....

    Highly recommended.

Seriously, spouting out prices is meaningless unless we compare exact items from one shop to another. That's very hard to do considering the huge spectrum of lenses and frames available.

Err.... yes I did. Same brand, style (model number) of frames and same Hoya lens.

I repeat, 3 pairs for 12,000 compared to one pair for almost 30,000.

Nothing wrong with Euro Optic if you like being ripped off.
