  1. Apologies if this has been answered recently before but I searched and couldn't locate anything relevant.

What is the best Embassy or consulate in the region to obtain a Non B Visa? All the paperwork is prepared, all that will be needed is the covering letter addressed to the relevant embassy or consulate. How id Penang now, or is Vientianne a better option?

    Many thanks.

Good phone and good value, I have had one for a few months also bought one for the gf. No problems except finding replacement covers (Thai girls like to change every month?) it is not a common phone.

Look on Lazada, there seems to be plenty there and delivered to your door free. Also thinking about changing to the Note 8 FE. When you have fat fingers the stylus is a blessing!

  3. Did a search but nothing specific or current that I could find.  I'm currently on an extension of stay based on retirement which expires soon, but have been offered a job so will need to get a B visa again. Company documents etc. are not ready for me to apply for the B visa within the time frame I need, so will leave, apply for a SETV and then it can be converted within Thailand.

Question is for the knowledgeable: Where is the best and easiest place to fly to in S.E. Asia to get the SETV?  (i.e. least paperwork, queues, etc.)

    Many thanks.

  4. I've had a 1.8 Navi Sylphy for nearly 5 years (60,000 km) on some trips to Issan I've achieved 20 km/l out of it. Definitely far more economical than the Honda City and Civics I owned previously.

Newer technology I guess coupled with the CVT.

It should work...depending on the cable companies setup...from my experience with Banglamung and Tipmanee cable TV a
DVB T2 terrestrial tv box that works with an antenna/ariel also works when the digital cable signal is feed into the ariel socket...need to rescan for channels.

My thoughts too. Going to give it a try. Cheaper than buying a new TV. Will report the result for future reference.

  6. I have a 4 year old FHD LG TV (model 42LN5120-TC) that according the LG website appears to only have an analogue receiver in it. Up until now it has been connected where there was a satellite dish (and box) and it received digital channels.

Recently moved into a new condo that has cable TV provided. Our newer TV (that it appears has a digital tuner) receives all the channels, but the LG doesn't. Would a digital converter box like this work? Somchai in the shop said of course not for cable TV, I needed to also buy a new aerial or of course "we have these TV's on sale".

    Anyone have a solution please?

  7. In my condo there is a LAN outlet that provides AIS Fibre at consistent speeds of more that 60mbps when connected to my laptop. I currently have a virtual router installed on the laptop that allows me to connect phones via wifi. Of course, only if the laptop is there and turned on, which is not always the situation.

I have a TOT tp link modem/router from my old condo, so the question is to all you learned people is can I connect this modem to the LAN network via cable and then use it to broadcast wifi so all devices (laptop and phones) can access the network? I'm assuming it can, but also I take it that it won't be plug and play. Nothing is ever that simple for me and technology!

Any tips on how to set it up?

    Many thanks

I read enough Thai to be able to read the province on a number plate. In all the many years I have lived in Bangkok I have never seen a 'red plate' on a bike that was issued in Bangkok, and believe me, I have looked. The reason for this is that they don't exist.

Any new bike that I, or any of friends, have bought in Bangkok, has never been issued with red plates even when pushed by concerned friends. They simply don't exist or matter.

Samut Prakan is not in Bangkok or even a suburb. It is, in fact, a province of Thailand, known as the province of Samut Prakan.

Sorry, in Bangkok and with red plates that translate to Bangkok. Same as the writing that's on my car plates. As someone else said, just because a Ducati dealer didn't have them or was too lazy to offer you them.....

  9. Anyone got an idea before I take it to the brain surgeons at the dealer?

3 year old car, 50,000 km, front wheel drive and has developed a creaking noise from the front passenger suspension. No irregular tyre wear, vibrations, car trying to pull left or right, in fact drives like new except for the creaking noise. When on a smooth road with little suspension movement it hardly makes a noise. With my limited knowledge I did a visual inspection and can't see anything worn, leaking etc.

    Your input appreciated please.

i paid full sum,  total 2.5 million ,  one off payment.

Have you factored in the 2% of purchase price contract assignment fee charged by the developer? Or was that negotiated out at contract stage?

Have you also prepaid the sinking fund? One or two years in advance maintenance fee? Meters? Transfer costs from the developer to the Thai company?

Matrix usually include Thai company setup costs in their price so that's a small cost you won't have to wear.

  11. Can anyone shed some light on this situation please?

Yesterday I had my Nissan in for a regular book service and they told me that a rear shock absorber needed replacing under warranty, which they did and at no charge to me. The car has only travelled 34,000k and very easy driving too. My question is, should shock absorbers be replaced in pairs (same as tyres) or is acceptable to replace just the one?

Prior to the replacement to car was showing no signs of a faulty shock and it drives the same with the new one installed.

    Many thanks for your input.
