Could you imagine, I mean in your wildest phantasy and after your hangover is gone, that the govenor meant the Smithsonian National Zoological Park?
The carabao honorary medal is ready to be presented.

Exactly. This is why I WILL judge shamelessly people who trade sex for money. It is black and white for me. Sure life is tough. "Das Leben ist kein Ponyhof", says the Germans. But instead of working hard, some people choose to take the easy way out and chase money. This money-oriented mindset is what leads them to selling their dignity, their self-respect, even their morality. And that's just disgusting. I bet you, if you ask 20 bar girls, and 20 fruit sellers on the street, what kind of living situation they come from, they will give you a similar answer. Some just won't sell themselves for money and would rather do hard, but respectable work. Some just choose to dehumanize themselves and sell themselves like cheap carpets on discount.
What is the oldest profession on earth?

I didn't and I wouldn't, but if you do not know or believe that these shows exist then try typing 'Thailand orangutan boxing' into Google.
Safari World still have the advertisement for orangutan boxing on their website.
Safari World is a public zoo?

I'll take that bet any day.
Just go to google maps and see where the zoo is located... right next to the King's palace. You think he wants a 10 story shopping mall next door with people eating their subways while looking out over one of his palaces? Plus all the extra traffic in front of the gates of people going shopping? Think again.
My guess is the area will be used as extension of the palace.
I am sure the CPB has some detailed ideas about use of Dusit land. Phone them and ask!

Why is Dusit zoo being relocated?....Seem you have a lot of answers.
Absolutly not, just what I get from google. And most I said before. It is 75 years old, small for a modern zoo and a new plot was donated. The Dusit land belongs to CPB. That's all what I have to say.

Didn't seem to be all cheap Charlie's at the few such beaches I visited in Europe, Canada, and even a few in prudish USA.
We are talking of farangs in Thailand. In Europe there are plenty of those beaches. Check Cap d'Adge and the bay of pigs ?

I agree. Rather depressing place.
Still, rather a big attraction for Thais and not thought for farangs who get depressed when they see an animal in a cage but hurry back to Khao San road to eat some spare rips or Ksntucky fried chicken.

Why not set aside a few isolated beach areas for suit-free swimmers? That works in many other countries.
Are these western backpackers and cheap charlies of interest to Thailand? May be only when Chinese tour groups carried to these beaches to watch this kind of species.

Well 20-25 years ago it was normal for hi-so's drive in the zoo over the paths...
I was a backpacker that time and walked to the zoo from kao san. So the backpackers will miss that as well soon.
Like Changi airport is worldfamous because it's the best airport Bangkok needs a Superzoo ....Something like the Sunway Pyramid in Kuala Lumpur but bigger and better. It's a zoo, waterpark, attractionpark, shopping mall, hotel and more...very nice...will go back there soon.
One thing will be for sure, plenty of food stalls and restaurants.

I can't stand to see animals caged but at least they are alive and not been shot by some a**hole with an AK-47 made in China..
I think you mean an American big game hunter who auctioned an endangered animal in RSA and is a member of the NRA with an American made gun. So, don't twist the reality.

The "Rest of the Story" is the property is too valuable for animals, Bangkok needs another Condominium complex, or another Mega-Mall. Wanna bet it doesn't turn into a
Green Space for Bangkokonians to enjoy???
Sorry, my previous post was removed due to link to Bangkok Post.
The Dusit Zoo land belongs to the Crown Property Bureau (see Wikupedia) and it is not known yet what happens with it.

Well i hope the new zoo won't be in Pathum Thani but somewhere in BKK near public transport. They should use whole pak-kret island for that in the middle of the chao praya.
You must be joking, bulldozers wellcome! This is not China! And as I wrote before, the plot was donated!
But the hope dies at last.

I doubt, for them today party time is more important and watching a movie in one of the guest houses in afternoon.

Correct, Singapore zoo is perfect same as night safari. But could many Thais with family afford it?

It's not misleading, it's what i saw when i walked in the zoo 20 years ago.
Several Benz'es driving around with families who only came out to see the animals they wanted to see. After that they drove to the next cage....
3 is the parking lot and only VIPs might be allowed to drive around the lake for example

I did not experience that quite a few years ago on different occasions. Times might have changed.

You didn't read my post, did you? In case you didn't and are far to busy trolling this forum; here it is again in simplified language: I agree with you.
Of course I did otherwise I would not reply.
You said that because peoples can not afford to see giraffes in Africa they are "probably" on display in something called zoo.
That is what I dispute after reading about history of zoos.

When i visited BKK zoo i was so amazed that many cars were allowed to drive in there.
The new zoo will get a highway inside i reckon...I've never seen cars driving in a zoo anywhere on the world, it's a real Thai only.
There is car and coach parking inside the zoo but not driving around like in a safari park. Your post is slightly misleading.

I have lived in and visited Bangkok for almost fifty years - my first trip to the Zoo was in 1969 on R&R from Vietnam when I was 19, then about twenty times thru the years after - until they instituted the double charge for foreigners. Ain't been back since...........you do have good points, but I still bet a shopping mall pops up in the next ten years........
You might win that bet. My Thai friends neither know what will happen with the plot.

Yes, that's probably why they're on display. Sad but true.
"What is right is often forgotten by what is convenient"
Nice when you believe that. But also read Wikipedia "Zoo" "History"
Thai"friendly"....share your insight.
