  1. It doesn't get trapped and hang around like it does up here. And there's nowhere near as much burning either.

Sent from my R2D2 using my C3P0 manservant

Guess your memories on isaan are outdated and romantic the smoke hoovers for 3 month all over north Asia from India to Vietnam - surly not excluding isaan with its hazardous pollution levels.
  2. Fairfly - is/was a page which would offer you improved prices even after you bought your ticket already- they would issue a new ticket and take a small fee on what you saved. Guess the biz concept was to troublesome for private customers but makes sense for cooperates. Just couldn't find anything like it and thought one. Of you might use a similar tool.

  3. So with my Thai driving license in hand is it possible to apply for a Thai issued international license. Mainly because I got a motorbike license here but not in Europe but would like to drive there as well. Any thoughts, experience on that and if what is required and where can this be done?

    Yes, possible.

But also with your Thai motorbike licence you can ride a bike in Europe.

This i really doubt as the Thai driving license is strictly limited to ASEAN countries. Same a a German license is limited to Europe.
No. Thai (5 year) licence and German licence are both worldwide. Where did you pick up your information?

Any given Police Control in Asia will ask you for an international DL if it were true what u say than the international would have no meaning.

  5. Just go to mochit bus terminal a view days in advance every bus company serving your route has a booth there with pics of the buses they are more or less all the same and a ticket should be shy of 800 bht going early secures a seat reservation of your choice but there are chances you can get a bus same day if you need- very popular are the over night connections as they arrive in the early morning in cm. this said the only reason why I choose the pain over a flight if I got lots of luggage with me. Always wanted to try the train but they are at least in the past horrible unreliable with a couple of them running of the tracks every year.

  6. There is a great report on GTR I read before about two guys who bought scooters and rode the coast road without a guide, I forgot the details but it's a great tale. If you want to do the trip, there is a way but it taking your bike in probably isn't an option.

I drove 30.000 km the past 2 years all over Laos , Thailand , Vietnam all with Honda dream so I guess it's not the bike which is the issue ;)

  7. It wouldn't be a bad idea to write your local government describing your experience and concerns reminding them that the problems is not washed away by rain and action have to be prepared now to not let this disaster happen again and again otherwise they will think they just can sit it out year after year.

  8. Any updates on UK passport holders getting a MTEV in the UK?

I am planning to apply for one next month.

    Documents I already have are:

Statments from a UK savings account where the balance is currently £17,000 and had never been under £10,000 in the last 6 months.

A 'HMRC SA100 Self Assessment Tax Form' for last UK tax year showing my income which is from UK baised investments which will show a net income of just under £20,000 pre my UK tax liablity. This will be stamped by my UK accountant.

A confirmed flight to Thailand (actually the second part of a return ticket bought in Thailand).

A letter from the Juristic person at the condo I own confirming I own it and a copy of the charnote showing my name, confirming my accomadation in Thailand.

Any thoughts on if this will be enough or if I should book a cheap exit somewhere at the end of the first 90 days stay?

Also any idea what is the best/most lenient Embassy or consulate to apply, the London embassy would be most convenient but I will be visiting family in Yorkshire while on my UK trip and could visit Hull or Liverpool should they be more laid back.

Many thanks in advance for any constructive advice.

Out of my experience you need a return ticket as well as one additional ticket showing you exit after 60/90 days. I would prefer a Honorary consulate as they are more interested in money than in documents.
