  1. One of my friends passed recently and had a legal thai will in place that was set up properly by competent thai attorneys. His son,who inherited 50% of the properties his father had, is in the USA. There was a recent sale of 2 of the condos his dad had and there are proceeds sitting in a thai bank. The son has been named the legal executor of the estate here in Thailand. What is the best way to get the money to the USA. The amount is about 8 million baht. I have heard that its not easy and only 50k at a time can be wired. Just looking for a good, safe ,quick way to accomplish this.

  2. I have been saddled with terrible stomach probs and just started taking the probiotics in capsule form. Its been about a week now and they seem to be helping. I had a friend bring them over from Germany for me..not sure if they are available here in Thailand..in the USA they are everywhere.. Florastor is one of the more popular ones

  3. I was at the bank today with 500k to deposit and they told me they had a fixed 3.15 6 month cd that was taxable and the net after taxes was 2.6....also offered a 3% non taxable account that did not have an expiration date. Can someone please how the taxes are handled here and what is most desirable to expats living here

Thai withholding tax on fixed deposits (no CDs in Thailand) is 15%, i.e. 3.15% yields net 2.6775% p.a.

    BUT

withholding tax is only deducted on interest exceeding 20,000 Baht. your 500k should therefore yield 3.15% net (7,875 Baht for a 6 months period).

the offered 3% tax free is paid on money market funds for which Thai banks issue a separate passbook after going through a dozen nonsensical steps of paperwork sick.gif

Thanks....so as long as my interest income on the fixed deposit falls below the 20,000baht mark then I get to keep it all and there is no witholding deducted...is that correct? If that is correct than the fixed deposit would be better as long as I dont need to withdraw the money within the 6 mos timeframe.

    yes, correct!

Thank you for clarification on this. I can now make an educated decision for myself. These forums are just great

  6. I also recommend Mason. I have seen him but not for surgery, and I was very pleased with his advice as well as prices. I have friends who have had both shoulders and knees operated on by Dr. Mason and they were also pleased. He is a shoulder specialist and as Sheryl mentioned has had some very good training in the US at one of the best med schools. English is perfect as well

  8. I thought Eric from Western Meats has gone to BKK and is no longer there. Was in a few days ago and there was some product in the freezers but all the showcases were empty. I like the bread from La Boulange bakery...It is sold in friendship, foodmart in jomtien as well as his bakery on 3rd road. I like the meat at prime beef..its on pattaya klang next to foodland supermarket..they also have good wine selection at foodland. For lamb..prob Makro is the best. La Bocca pizza is the best I have had here but agree with others that for delivery the NY Pizza house on 3rd road is the best and most reliable

  9. Mityon gave back the 800 baht I paid them to do the title transfer

800 Baht is the fee for transferring a bike inside Chonburi province.

That is done within a day in Banglamung and "nothing", compared to transfer a "foreign" bike in Chonburi. (Three visits to the DLT)

I think, when the agency/mityon recognized, it was a foreign bike, they refused because of the effort.

I asked my wife, because I had 1200-1500 in my mind.

But she told me, nowadays it would be very hard to find someone reliable, who does it for less than 2000 Baht.

But this depends on the circumstances (insurance valid or not, tax regularly paid etc.pp..).

You may wait 4-6 weeks for your book, because the agencies tend to collect some customers first.

Insurance is valid and all taxes paid. I am having the ex-owner call the phuket honda dealer to see what they can do..I am thinking if I send them all the paperwork from the seller..with the numbers from the bike and my wifes thai i.d....they will be able to transfer it and mail me the book back..that is all more risk than what I want but the alternatives look bleak

  10. The agency and motorbike dealer(mityon) say the paperwork is fine..Mityon did all the paperwork for me when I was with the seller at their dealership. The reputable agency I went to here in pattaya also said the paperwork is fine..its just the origin of the greenbook(phuket) that they have refused to transfer title. Mityon gave back the 800 baht I paid them to do the title transfer..and the seller was there with the bike whule they did the paperwork.

  11. Ok..anyone know where in Chonburi the DLT is?

    Yepp...but:

Let an agency/office do the job for you, if you never did something like this before!!

You have to go three times to Chonburi (four times, if plates are not available, what they aren't at the moment....).

I would rather let the agency do it but here in Pattaya I have been sent away by 2 agencies as they said they could not do because the bike was bought and 1st registered in Phuket. So are you talking about an agency in Chonburi??

  12. I have posted up about the problem with the PCX I bought here in Pattaya but the bike was originally purchased in Phuket. I have tried to get the previous owner to call the Phuket dealership where she bought it new and I have no luck. I am not sure where I can transfer the green book to my name at this point. Some people mentioned Chonburi somewhere...is that true? So far all I am hearing is go to Phuket.

    Any help is appreciated

  13. You can try the agent on Sukhumvit road, they will do the name transfer for you at a price.

Agent is MOT Testing station next to Stipholek Gym on Sukhumvit between Pattaya Klang and Pattaya Nua (near the new flyover)

Take the bike with you as they will need to check the chassi/engine no.s

Make sure you have a valid residence certificate and passport along with transfer papers signed by the ex owner and copy of her ID Card

Went to this place today..same place where I do my car reg every year and they could not help me. Told me to either go to Phuket or have the owners address changed to BKK and then they would take care of it. Its becoming a headache!!
