I was at the bank today with 500k to deposit and they told me they had a fixed 3.15 6 month cd that was taxable and the net after taxes was 2.6....also offered a 3% non taxable account that did not have an expiration date. Can someone please how the taxes are handled here and what is most desirable to expats living here

I also recommend Mason. I have seen him but not for surgery, and I was very pleased with his advice as well as prices. I have friends who have had both shoulders and knees operated on by Dr. Mason and they were also pleased. He is a shoulder specialist and as Sheryl mentioned has had some very good training in the US at one of the best med schools. English is perfect as well

Here is the info for Master Raj yoga studio..For any experienced yoga people or just wanting to start, he is a great teacher. You can send him and email and he will email you the weekly schedule and tell you what classes are for beginners and more advanced. If you want private sessions with him to learn yoga, that is also available and recommended.

At this point the task of getting my motorbike and plates seems to be a huge hassle. My attorney recommends going to Phuket with the seller to change green book..cancelling Phuket plate and applying in Chonburi for a new plate. I will probably try and return the bike..this process seems absurd but I have yet to find a somewhat simple way to do this.

Thai/French beef here is call Charolais beef. Its high quality thai beef. Usually runs about 900baht per kilo for some nice strip steaks. It is sold at Villa Market and at Prime Beef on Pattaya Klang..nest to foodland

I thought Eric from Western Meats has gone to BKK and is no longer there. Was in a few days ago and there was some product in the freezers but all the showcases were empty. I like the bread from La Boulange bakery...It is sold in friendship, foodmart in jomtien as well as his bakery on 3rd road. I like the meat at prime beef..its on pattaya klang next to foodland supermarket..they also have good wine selection at foodland. For lamb..prob Makro is the best. La Bocca pizza is the best I have had here but agree with others that for delivery the NY Pizza house on 3rd road is the best and most reliable

Mityon gave back the 800 baht I paid them to do the title transfer
800 Baht is the fee for transferring a bike inside Chonburi province.
That is done within a day in Banglamung and "nothing", compared to transfer a "foreign" bike in Chonburi. (Three visits to the DLT)
I think, when the agency/mityon recognized, it was a foreign bike, they refused because of the effort.
I asked my wife, because I had 1200-1500 in my mind.
But she told me, nowadays it would be very hard to find someone reliable, who does it for less than 2000 Baht.
But this depends on the circumstances (insurance valid or not, tax regularly paid etc.pp..).
You may wait 4-6 weeks for your book, because the agencies tend to collect some customers first.
Insurance is valid and all taxes paid. I am having the ex-owner call the phuket honda dealer to see what they can do..I am thinking if I send them all the paperwork from the seller..with the numbers from the bike and my wifes thai i.d....they will be able to transfer it and mail me the book back..that is all more risk than what I want but the alternatives look bleak
-
The agency and motorbike dealer(mityon) say the paperwork is fine..Mityon did all the paperwork for me when I was with the seller at their dealership. The reputable agency I went to here in pattaya also said the paperwork is fine..its just the origin of the greenbook(phuket) that they have refused to transfer title. Mityon gave back the 800 baht I paid them to do the title transfer..and the seller was there with the bike whule they did the paperwork.

Ok thanks..Ill do it

Ok..anyone know where in Chonburi the DLT is?
Yepp...but:
Let an agency/office do the job for you, if you never did something like this before!!
You have to go three times to Chonburi (four times, if plates are not available, what they aren't at the moment....).
I would rather let the agency do it but here in Pattaya I have been sent away by 2 agencies as they said they could not do because the bike was bought and 1st registered in Phuket. So are you talking about an agency in Chonburi??

I have posted up about the problem with the PCX I bought here in Pattaya but the bike was originally purchased in Phuket. I have tried to get the previous owner to call the Phuket dealership where she bought it new and I have no luck. I am not sure where I can transfer the green book to my name at this point. Some people mentioned Chonburi somewhere...is that true? So far all I am hearing is go to Phuket.
Any help is appreciated

You can try the agent on Sukhumvit road, they will do the name transfer for you at a price.
Agent is MOT Testing station next to Stipholek Gym on Sukhumvit between Pattaya Klang and Pattaya Nua (near the new flyover)
Take the bike with you as they will need to check the chassi/engine no.s
Make sure you have a valid residence certificate and passport along with transfer papers signed by the ex owner and copy of her ID Card
Went to this place today..same place where I do my car reg every year and they could not help me. Told me to either go to Phuket or have the owners address changed to BKK and then they would take care of it. Its becoming a headache!!

Thanks I know the shop and use it for my car reg..yes I have all the papers and Mityon gave me back the whole package I gave them

they told me they couldnt help me. I would have to go to either Phuket or Chonburi.....
This is absolutely correct for Bikes from other Provinces.
Transfer of ownership + new plates (Chonburi) cannot be done in Banglamung.
But there are several shops/offices/agencies around, which can do the job in Chonburi.
Shouldn't cost much more than 1200-1500 Baht.
Thanks..are the places around that you mention in Pattaya or do I have to drive to Chonburi?

I live in Pattaya and recently bought a Honda PCX from my friends wife. I was aware the motorbike was brought to Pattaya from Phuket, where it was purchased. I went with the seller to the Honda dealer(Mityon) to get the paperwork done to transfer the motorbike to my name. That was 1 month ago. I went to pick up the green book today and they told me they couldnt help me. I would have to go to either Phuket or Chonburi..somewhere near the university to get the title transferred. If anyone can suggest a the proper way to do this I would really appreciate it. Fwiw..I have used Mityon before for title transfers on motorbikes and always easy and no problems.
Thanks,
Eric

I recently bought a used Honda PCX from my friends wife. I live in Pattaya and the motorbike was brought here from Phuket. I went with the seller to the local Honda shop (Mityon) to get the title into my name. I have done this before with no problems. Today when I went to pick up the green book they told me I would either have to go to Phuket or to somewhere in Chonburi near the university.
If anyone knows where this place is or how I can go about getting this bike reg transferred..all help is welcome
Thanks

Alot of the thais working in these shops dont speak english and if its just a little they are very shy to talk. So they just avoid the whole issue by not going over to the foreigner. I realize it makes people frustrated, but its that way everywhere in Thailand. I am used to it as part of the thai way and just work around it...not that big of a deal to me. If you took time to learn a little thai it would go a long way.

These are the most popular yoga mats here. Probably can get them at Supersport

There are alot of different mats in the stores here and alot of different prices as well..The Jason(brand name) mats are about 1k baht and are ok. Better mats are around the 3-4k baht range.

Thanks....so as long as my interest income on the fixed deposit falls below the 20,000baht mark then I get to keep it all and there is no witholding deducted...is that correct? If that is correct than the fixed deposit would be better as long as I dont need to withdraw the money within the 6 mos timeframe.
