  1. I thought Postman Pat had buggered off with his back and white cat. Here's one for the poor chap, taken at Upton Park on Saturday. Not sure which is Pat and which is Jess. COYS

Did you ever find out if your Thai son will be able to support YOU later?

    What a disgrace you are.

  2. Morning chaps! smile.png

Bit early for that carmine. You were a half decent penalty away from losing that game.

Jesus, West Ham are awful to watch aren't they.

and according to sam allardyce it is never, ever sam allardyce's fault that they are.

    carlton cole. i mean seriously.

Allardyce has been at the club for 3 years and in that time spent 40 million on strikers, yet we started this season with an utter clown like Cole still up front who wouldn't even get into a championship side.

Yet we still have some in the media telling us how 'lucky' we are to have this northern dinosaur fraudster in charge. It defies belief.

  3. The guy who did the build out of our house gets a lot of his supplies from Bangkok. The options here are fairly limited. If you want, I can ask him for the best place to buy items like these.

You might try Boonthavorn. Fairly high end store. There's also a very good electrical shop on Thepprasit, on the left and maybe 200M past the gas station that's on the right, as you are headed to the beach. It's in the block before the first road that angles off to the left. The guy there speaks very good English and is very knowledgeable. If he doesn't have it, he might be able to recommend a place.

Another option is Global House or Hardware House. Neither are in town, but are huge stores. The HH on Hwy 36 as you head towards Rayong is huge. Not too far past it is GH.

Is there anything that you don't know, Craig?

  4. As with the karaoke night, Mobi’s wasn’t exactly deluged with customers to watch the opening day of the EPL season, but those who did show up enjoyed a surprisingly entertaining game between Manu and Swansea, followed by a rather dour game between West Ham and Spurs.

Neutral supporters were cheered by the underdogs beating Manu and if there were any Manunited supporters there, they kept their thoughts to themselves….

As a 60 years + Spurs supporter, I was cheered by the result of the second match but admit they were lucky to edge it as the Hammers had the best of the game and deserved at least a draw.

    But that’s football for you…

Tonight it’s Liverpool/Southampton at 7.30 pm, followed by Newcastle/Man City at 10 pm.

Right now, as I am writing this (12.54 p.m), I can hear the Tannoy wafting over from the buffalo races, taking place on the lakeside, near to my home.

So any of you who are venturing out to watch the annual spectacle can be assured of a friendly welcome and a cold beer just down the road at Mobi’s, whenever you grow too hot or weary to watch any more buffalos being made to perform unnatural exercises.

You can also grab a bite to eat and stay to watch the evening’s football.

Hope to see some of you there….

I wouldn't build your hopes up about getting too many punters in on football nights, I get the impression that not too many darkside drinkers are really the sporting type and those that are probably go to the bright side at the weekends for their viewing..

  5. I don't what 'pool fans thought of Jim Beglin's commentary last night but I thought he was an utter disgrace.

He even said at one point when it was 1-1 and 'pool were sruggling a bit how they could do with Suarez now, overlooking the fact that he wouldn't have been playing anyway even if he had stayed. A complete fool.

Great idea an you have planned! Put your money into a guaranteed annuity in Hong Kong through a major bank which will give you a fixed income tax free 10 years from now so if everything goes pear shaped you will have an income for your old age.

Buy a cheap house/condo on the Darkside not in Pattaya and set a budget for the next 10 years. You will lose the plot living in downtown Pats.

Don't buy any houses in Isaan.

I can vouch for the last piece of advice . I built a house in Udon in 2000.Its now probably full of my ex-wife and her mates playing cards, drinking Lao Khao and smoking meth. I got the kids though

This may come as a surprise to you but not everyones relationship breaks down. We don't all marry gambling, whisky drinking, meth smoking Thai woman..

Calm down love , it was meant tongue in cheek you happy bunny you

    Of course it was laugh.png

  8. Thankfully I'll be out of Pattaya soon and won't be looking back. I was attacked in my car recently, totally unprovoked by a Thai who had just left a bar, who I found later was well p*ssed and just had a row with his missus. Wrong place wrong time. Physically I'm ok as he missed his punch, but the car is a bit scratched up after he started throwing bottles at it...these lovely, peaceful, Buddhist Thai's, eh.

  9. Funny how experiences differ. Not that long ago one of the biggest complaints we had about Cafe Des Amis was the dim insufficient lighting. The dimmers were so low we had to use lights from our smartphones to read the menu. Complained to the owner and he obviously listened as we have had no problems with the lighting recently. Yes, the seating can be a little tight (cozy) but the food and service certainly makes up for these perceived shortcomings.

There is absolutely nothing cozy about it at all, unless you think being able to listen to the people next to you word for word 'cozy'

As for the lighting, its gone full circle then, it's like a lighthouse in there now. The place has zero ambience.

Each to his own, I suggest you don't dine at Au Bon Coin(tight seating) or Mata Hari (even brighter, better lighting) either.

It would depend on the occassion wouldn't it. If I wanted to go out for a romantic type of evening then know I won't, but if not I'm not fussed. Cafe De Amis market there place as a romantic restaurant with ambiance but it's nothing like that.

  11. Cafe Des Amis...when we are there we eat here several times a week as the food and service are top notch...

I went to this place recently with the wife on her birthday for what we thought would be a very nice, cozy, private dinner with very nice ambience, we could not have been more wrong. In short, the place is a disgrace.

When we was shown to our table, which are all out the back, I walked into this very bright room, this can't be right I thought, this is meant to be a romantic restaurant with nice ambience (as they advertise on their website) why is the place so bright? Why are the dimmers on full strengh? We was then placed on a table almost sitting on the laps of the people next to us, you can hear everything that people are saying and to avoid eye contact with them you just have to keep looking straightforward, then another couple arrived on the table next to us giving us a feeling of being sandwiched in between 2 other couples, the latter couple arriving also seemed to be a bit put out by the closenesss of the tables, they are basically just lined up in a row, there is no sectioning in there at all. Then there is the noise, we would have had a more quiter private meal in McDonalds. One of the couples next to us (2 gobby farangs) were talking very loudly and roaring with laughter every other word going right down our earholes, then there was a packed table at the other end, well, you could have probably heard them half way up the soi. In short, the place is full of chavs, one guy sitting in there was covered in tatts. Just really not what we was expecting at all. To top it all of there was a cat running around in there, I kid you not. Romantic restaurant??? The place is an absolue joke. The owner knew we were far from happy and asked us if we would like a drink on the house to which I flatly refused. I'm still stunned as I type this as to what an all round very unpleasant experience it was.

On a positive, the food was outstanding and IMO extremely good value, the service is also very good, ableit a little overbearing. Do NOT however go here if you are looking for a romantic/nice meal out with special ambience.

  12. The John Dykes Football Today was on Stadium 6 (Channel 61) this evening. It appears that Stadium 6 is set up as last year, which I think is good news.

You have answered a question I was going to pose. I was out on the p*ss last night and was wondering if this was on, no repeat as of yet today though as I type.

Who was on the sofa? Pls don't tell me that old Curbs is still knocking about? If so, did he say any of this weekends matches are 'must wins'?

Curbs' was there with Ian Dowie while Uncle John clucked around his 'brood' like an old hen, carefully refraining from asking too many searching questions at this time of the season, including forecasting the result of each of this weekend's matches. It seems the Thaivisa football forum predictors are made of sterner stuff.

Dowie sounded as though he'd been up Curb's backside this summer as he constantly referred to "As Curbs' said earlier","As Alan said" and "What Alan said was spot on". The one moment of drama was when Dykes asked Dowie if "The three at the back for QPR, will it work?". "Yeah,I think it will" replied Dowie."What Caulker,Ferdinand AND Clint Hill?" asked Dykes searchingly."Well,I've played with Rio and he's still a world class defender" replied Dowie acidly. John looked shaken that one of his clutch had got upset. I swear I detected a tear in his eye.

Simply awful isn't it. Toothless hamsters have got more bite than Dykesie. I think it would be safe to say that he has a roster at home for when he and Mrs Dykes get intimate.

It always makes me cringe if he has a current player on there when it comes to predicting the score time, he asks his usual guests for a prediction, the other chap is then visibly ready to give his prediction but is told he doesn't have to that as it 'wouldn't be fair' which is often met by a look of complete bemusement from said player..

  13. I love it that we are now hated so much by other fans, love it.

I remember the days when we were everyone 'second favourite team' Yuk.

    Bring on the hate!

    IRONS!

    HaHaHa.......hardly. You're irrelevant tbh!!!!laugh.png

Arsenal's our derby. The chavs reckon were their derby and we are your annual cup final.

    MUGSbiggrin.png

Yes, I know you wasn't bothered to lose 3 times to West Ham last season, but out of interest how did it feel to be beaten by Arsenal 3 times as well?

How mant points do you think you will finish behind Arsenal this season? Just a ball park will do.

  15. Poor baby, You will be in my prayers. As for Siam commercial bank I will no longer be a customer I'm going in and transferring all my money to another bank.  What if other ATM's are defective at other location's? If when a customer reports getting a shock from ATM and manager doesn't at least walk outside and check it himself to see. If this is true Can I trust them to manage my money? makes you think. Think not.

When I first read this my immediate reaction was to snigger and think it's a huge over-reation. But on reflection, I say good for you if you are serious. If you do close your account tell them exactly why, that morally you can no longer bank with a company that are totally responsible for the death of a 2 year old girl. Maybe it will also send them a message that Westerners value human life, particuarly a young life, unlike Thai's. I hope many others to the same.

There is danger lurking everywhere in this country, that's not Thai bashing, it's a simple fact.

  16. Renewal time. I know that - they appear not to.

Do I bust a gut, beat their door down and insist on paying more money or do I sit tight and watch for free (possibly until they lose the rights by bankruptcy or contract expiry) knowing that someday I might be cut off for a week or two?

Decisions decisions. Anybody got a moral take on this?

They have put have put far too much coin into this to not make it work, and didn't they pay up front for 3 years? so how would they lose the rights?

If it were me I would just contact them and say you want to pay monthly, highly unlikely you will get cut off anyway, not heard of anyone getting cut off, they probably wouldn't even know how to do it.

    COYI!

  17. I covered this topic on here recently.

Fwiw, I would think it will be the same as last season, no reason why not is there. Remember, if there are any changes that is probably down to PLTV and not CTH.

But PP, I thought you were giving it the elbow biggrin.png well so you said !

    Put your c*ck away.

No need for that Victor laugh.png

Haven't you got some condos you should be flogging, traitor?

  18. I really wouldn't worry about it, hardly anyone gets a bill. I've just started getting one after a year and even then it was wrong.

You come across as like a modern day Mary Poppins, 'I don't like being in debt like this' ooohhhh, you bad ass you...chill, and let's hope the football is good this weekend, it seems to have been a long time coming.
