Mobi - you are certainly right in not asking for money from blokes whipping away your women. However, it might be an idea to make this clear to the blokes, and suggest that if they do tie the knot, they have the stag doo in your bar. You could even post up a "happy couple" picture board where your ex employees who have been married off get their picture on the wall with their Tirak - behind the pool table or something.
They are not his woman, they are his wifes woman. It's not his bar, remember.

haha had to laugh at this another 1 falls in the trap, as the saying goes there no fool like an old fool."Win some lose some"
A couple of days back I reported the arrival of three more ladies to Mobi’s bar from the wilds of Issan.
I think someone must have read my comments that that not one of these ladies has ever worked in a place of entertainment before – in fact they had hardly been outside their villages in their entire lives – as last night a gentleman of certain advanced age took a shine to one of our older newbies and whisked her away from the temptations of the flesh before we could blink an eye.
It looks like he is making a permanent home for the lucky lady, as he has already put a ring on her finger, and all the indications are that he is a very decent gentleman, so we will shortly be wishing her a fond farewell.
As with all our ladies, we wish them the very best if they happen to find a nice gentleman who will take care them and their family. This is the good side of having a bar – sometimes you can actually change someone’s life for the better.
Of course we will always welcome her back into the Mobi fold if it doesn’t work out.
So our numbers have reduced by one, but we have three more on the way in early August…. Can’t seem to keep them away….
Sent from my V370 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
Don't be like that. I'm sure the gentleman was very pleased with his nights work. He went out for a quiet beer and instead of taking home one of Mobi's curries, he took home a shiny new wife instead. Splendid!

Gotta love the way people on these forums throw the word 'scam' around at the drop of a hat. But you have a valid point, if you agree to the price them that should be it.

Wasn't it you that told us all that the new Index was going to be a hospital?? Your source was 'plugged into' the health scene pparantly. I hope this isn't the same person who has now told you about the new ABP!
I knew someone would remember that blooper...yeah I'll cop to stepping in it on that one...I still give my source hell everytime we drive past the new "Index Hospital" and we have a good laugh.
Haha! Good to see you took it in the spirit it was meant, unlike some of here who would have took it all the wrong way. We all call stuff wrong from time to time.

I drove past there today and noticed ABP signage so looks correct........
It was tongue in cheek mate, with reference to originally telling us all Index was going to be a hospital. Jeez.

Pattaya Pat is really Paul Pugh sat in an office in London.
No one else on this forum is supporting the present procedure and the need to travel the earth to renew a passport.
And what a remarkable coincidence that both have the initials PP!
Not guilty your honour :-)

Was that your 'huge amount of money' comment for a new passport? If a 100 quid is a huge amount of money to you, then yes I stand by what I said.
And yes CTH are a 'joke' glad you agree.
PatBut that wasn't you that said that was it, you was specifically talking about the 'huge cost' of a passport, so let's not start making things up now. Numpty!
Anyhow, bore off and let it be.
IRONS!

I thought you were cancelling yours PP
Oh look, it's the traitor. How about replying to the post rather than the poster?
So after all that complaining we had to endure, you never cancelled like you said were going to ?
Don't worry Alfie, Postman Pat has a long history of making throw away comments and then disappearing failing to answer replies. After calling me a peasant the other day, and being admonished by others, he has not been seen since on the overstay thread. Too busy stroking his pussy Jess I suspect. Can you show me where I am 'supporting' it?
You wouldn't be making things up now would you?

So funny! Really quality humour! So funny you should add those yellow things to emphasize how really funny that is. That makes it so much more funnier.
Go on some other threads and spread your really funny humour with the little yellow things showing how really funny you are.

I wouldn't let someone with an Argentinian avatar get to you, that tells you a lot about the bloke. He is a traitor and a Spud. Oh dear.
And you are clearly a moron.
And so are you,, so there!

I am just on 10 weeks and nothing so you must have jumped the queue. Looks like the sooner you complain the sooner you are dealt with.
Yes, I am pretty sure that the Consulate pulled strings in my case, nothing in writing to that effect however.
If it was one more week of delay I would have been on overstay, plus I now have to orgainse new marriage/work extensions, WP, etc - so it still will be a very busy week.
I strongly urge that you phone the British Embassy Consular Facility in BKK a.s.a.p. and ask them help ensure your new passport arrives within the next 2 weeks, explain that other wise you will be on overstay due to a full passport.
Good luck.
I am a great believer in process management. The variable speed limits on the M25 proved without doubt that erratic driving and lane hopping was a major cause of traffic congestion. In the same way way queue jumping has caused congestion in the passport renewal process. I am quite prepared to take my place in the queue and deal with the outcome. I fail to see why I should be penalised because others fell they should go first.
If I lose my extension and end up on overstay, so be it, I am certainly not going to lose any sleep over it. The fact that HMPO allows people to jump the queue is just another indication of how incompetent they are,
I am curious, how on earth did variable speed limits on the M25 stop lane hopping?
Well it's your choice not to save yourself, however I had no intention of losing my Work Permit, Extension of Permission to Stay, or ability to work and run my company then provide for my family.
You are right in that what you call queue jumping (automatic fast track up grades for UK applicant with proven travel) has definitely caused further delays for overseas applicants.
Two wrongs don't make a right, but still, why should I have to shut up shop and lay off 15 workers, just because HMPO are incompetent?
When working I spend over 3-4 hours on average per day driving and am certainly at risk of getting caught in a road check, if I were on overstay.
I personally would not have been able to sleep having just become an illegal immigrant after 13 years in Thailand, thank god that's not going to happen now.
You fail to see why you should be penalized by my (maybe) getting a 2 week boost, well let me assure you that I would have done anything to avoid overstay, as I am pretty 'visible' running a business, plus I really hate being forced into situations were I have to pay bribes to the police and immigration.
Yes, I did everything I could to save my a..e from HMPO's bungling, so that I can continue to look after my wife and kids and if you don't like that well that's your problem, not mine.
Still think you should phone the Consulate, why risk overstay now if you can avoid it?
You really are a massive drama queen aren't you. Man up a bit for heavans sakes.

I just got THE call. Passport is ready to collect. They asked me when I was planning on picking it up and reminded me what I needed to bring with me. All good.

One of my kids' passports is running out soon too. Would you advise getting her one at the same time. She is 11 and also has a Thai passport.
I ask because we're not planning in going anywhere(as a family) for at least a couple of years. If she went to the UK, she wouldn't need a UK passport.
If she were without a UK passport for a couple of years, would it cause any problems when applying for a new one?
No, absolutely not, it's up to you when you decide to renew it.
I am in the same boat as you, have a 6 year old whose passport had expired but because we have no travel plans further than Asia I couldn't be arsed with it.

If I get the 12 months extension, can I get another one after 1 year?
As things stand at present, no. But who knows at the present time by how much HMPO may move the goalposts further over the next 12 months and possibly allow this by then (oops, apologies for the metaphorical ref to football!)?
'if I get the 12 months extension, can I get another one year after 1 year?'
That is the exact same question that I dread Allardyce asking David Sullivan.

Yes, trendy have been saying that, almost since the beginning, however the HMPO website says that you must collect in person, but that someone can apply on your behalf if you are unable to attend.
Again there is a significant lack of clear information on procedures/variations, trendy don't answer enquiries by email, HMPO help line operators are mostly clueless, plus trendy don't have a public phone line..
Third class service indeed.
Definitely third class service. In their eventual response to the email I sent them in April (which I quoted in a posting earlier in this thread), HMPO fobbed me off with the vague excuse that the requirement to submit renewal applications to - and subsequently collect replacement passports from - the With-It Office Building in Bangkok in person was brought about by the need for “passport security checks”. In the (optimistic) hope of teasing a rather more meaningful explanation out of them, I have now sent them a further email, as follows, which includes a Freedom Of Information request:-
“It would appear that passport security checks lie at the heart of the requirements which were introduced on 8 March 2014 for (1) passport renewal applications from Thailand to be submitted in person by applicants to the UK Visa Application Centre in Bangkok (instead of submitted by applicants direct to HMPO’s Liverpool office), and (2) for the new passports resulting from these applications to be collected in person by applicants from the UK Visa Application Centre in Bangkok (instead of being sent direct from the UK to applicants by DHL courier).
“Whilst it is, indeed, now the case that applicants no longer need to attend in person at the UK Visa Application Centre for the purposes of submitting their passport renewal applications - and, subsequently, collecting their new passports - nevertheless there remains the very real possibility of applicants living in remote parts of Thailand being deprived of their existing passports for several days in total while these are being transported to and from Bangkok with authorised representatives for application submission - and, again, replacement passport collection - purposes. This would clearly place them in breach of the Bangkok Embassy’s interpretation of the legal requirement in Thailand for passports to be carried by their holders with them at all times!
“In any event, I am sure that I am not alone in wondering why the particular passport security checks which now require passport renewal applications from Thailand to be physically submitted to - and replacement passports to be physically collected from - Bangkok were apparently not deemed to be necessary prior to 8 March 2014. Since HMPO has clearly chosen not to place a full justification for these particular changes in the public domain for some mysterious reason, I am now hereby submitting a request under the Freedom Of Information Act 2000 for paper or electronic copies of all original documents relating to HMPO’s decision to require passport renewal applicants from Thailand to have their applications submitted to - and, subsequently, their replacement passports collected from - the UK Visa Application Centre in Bangkok in person as from 8 March 2014.”
Finally received an acknowledgement email from HMPO today informing me that my FOI request had been passed to their Parliamentary and Diplomatic Enquiries Team. We're already 1 week into the 4-week deadline they have for providing the info I've requested.
Hee hee. Did you really have to remind me about Alan 'marquee signing' Curbishley. I wonder if he wil be calling any games in September 'must wins' like he did last season? The man is an utter fraud and will never work in football again.
Give me Alan Curbishley over that unintelligible clown Peter Reid any time, Pat!
Yes I agree with that, I absolultely loathe the man. He is the typical ex-manager who was sacked everywhere he has been but he sits on the sofa putting the world to rights telling managers, who have actually been a success, what to do. He looks good in his jeans though..
Hang on, isn't this thread meant to be about passports..

Looks like this topic is off to a flying start !
Reported today that CTH and GMM have a struck a deal to merge. I'm not sure what the ramifications might be regarding EPL viewing.
Same article indicated that CTH lost $3.5 billion baht last year.
Yes, hopefully it will stay on topic now.
No surprise they lost a stack of dough is it, they only have 2 years left now of the PL, unless they win the rights again.

Is there something up with this service? 2 days no nothing
Have you tried asking them?
Not yet, thought it might be 3BB,speed seems to be down as well I will give them a buzz tomorrow
I got an email from the yesterday they are adding quite a lot of new channels including CNBC, only a little extra than what we currently pay, maybe that's the reason, although my UKTV software seems to be ok.
