  1. Channel 131, Stadium 1, is actually showing a game. Chelsea v Sunderland from a couple of years ago, WITH ENGLISH COMMENTARY. Calm down everyone.

Repeated games are always in ENGLISH COMMENTARY

So i wouldn't be telling everyone to calm down just yet.

  2. Hi guys.

For those who are having trouble getting football with English commentary you can do what we did before when overseas. Get a VPN, strong VPN is a good brand at about 50 dollars a year. Then when it is set up get go.sky.com for sky tv in the uk. It costs about 35 pounds a month for loads of tv and all the football. Just switch your VPN on, log onto sky and watch. You can have up to 2 devices so your pc and tablet. Movies are a little extra. Never had a problem before and all sports not just football. You can then watch bbc1 etc.

    Hope this helps

    Jamie

    'hi guys' ?

    *ducks behind sofa*

  3. I don't know how the EPL have done it. Price to screen EPL in my bar 2,500 baht. To show La Liga, which arguably has a superior product, on RS Sunbox, its 100 baht and Bundasleague, J League and Championship its 125 baht on GMZ. The EPL was boring last season and I am much more looking forward to seeing Messi, Ronaldo et al from Spain than I am the English matches. Bundasleague was a lot better and more entertaining too. How have EPL conned us all?

I wouldn't even know where to start with that post, but not sure how watching Madrid and Barca get bye's every week can turn you on.

  4. Pat, yes audio for english not working yet. I have been assured it will be for next Saturday. The FIBA qualifiers had english commentary. So did the final of the Hong Kong Asia trophy, so don't panic. I've been informed we'll still be getting John Dykes and co. too. Charity shield on channel 7.

Blue - To confirm, you have no sound at all, right?

  5. Has anyone else got any sound on 'eng' on the PL channels? I don't mean English commentary but any sound at all?

Getting a bit worrying with only a week to go now.

Did someone say the chaity shield is on today?

  6. Mmmm.....In my experience drivers that go through that junction in the left lane through the lights go slowly (myself included) I've lived here for a couple of years and have never once seen anyone speed through there. And as already pointed out if you are coming across from Klang as that girl was or 'lady' as some are sayingm if you are not speeding you have plenty of time to see what is coming from the left and plenty of time to see what is infront of you if as suggested a car coming through the left side moves into the middle.

As for going to city hall on monday, that is hilarious, thanks for the laugh.

  7. Got CTH satellite Installed today by one of their agents cost 2500. I live in pathum thani so if anyone else in the area wants the number DM me.

Great service, went for 899 package as this one can be paid monthly. 599 package has to be paid upfront for the year.

    attachicon.gifImageUploadedByThaivisa Connect Thailand1376035730.617103.jpg

Folk in Pattaya had to pay 3500 for install.

That is why it is 599 because you have to pay for the year. Actually that's not correct anyway, you will find that you need to pay for the 3 years ufront for it to equal 599 baht.

  8. What pisses me off is that True haven't dropped the price of their Gold package, the cheapest package that shows all its sport channels, even though it has lost the crown jewels, EPL. They justify this by introducing more HD channels, but it still is very bad value. I thought I would get all its sport on True's 500 baht Super Sports package, but half of the channels are missing. I miss True, but can't afford CTH and True Gold as well.

    I thought the same thing.

Paying the same but getting a lot less for your money.

  9. I have now binned True and had CTH installed by the local Kamphaeng Phet cable company via one of their associate satellite installers. And very impressed I am too with the picture quality and programme schedule. At 900+ baht a month,it's good value for money especially when the Premier League arrives. I do miss the TCM and MGM film channels as I'm a bit of a sucker for the old films. The CTH movie channels consist entirely of some of those slick American films or series where the chiselled jaw leading man speaks in hushed tones and the women seem like they've all just graduated out of the School of Method Acting in the Style of Buffy the Vampire. A minor hindrance, nevertheless.

You are impressed with programme shedule?? Really, why is that?

I think it's shocking, you can't even see what is on. But I appreciate this is all new so prepard to cut them some slack and hopefully they will get everything sorted in time.

What have they been showing on the sports channels, Pat? Is there anything on those 'Stadium' channels; review or preview shows, for example?

Keddy - No nothing yet, just basketball and motor cross.

  10. Let's face it, half the channels could disappear Tmrw and most of us wouldn't care, as long as still got EPL. F1 and other major sports on fox. Nat Geo is useful if nothing else is on as is sky news. Only thing I'll miss from True is guaranteed UCL coverage. But I'm hoping to obtain this by other means.

You're spot on, blue. Remember Thai tv some UCL games, or they did last season anyway.

Btw, the league cup 2nd round draw is at 6.30 our time today.

Millwall vs West Ham will do me w00t.gif

  12. My plan to keep True and have it running into the same tv as CTH has been squashed due to only have 1 socket in the wall (the round one where the white lead goes)

Others here have said that they have both running into the same tv....how have you done that? 2 sockets I assume?

I'm not over bothered and don't doubt the engineer is correct but thought I'd ask the question anyway..

You just need a splitter (not sure if thats the techie term!) The white lead goes in one end and you connect the two boxes together out of the other side of the splitter. The engineer must know about them (just a plastic box with one input and two outputs)

But wilai, if there is only one cable going to one satellite then surely splitting it at the socket won't help !

Yes only one white tv cable can go into the wall socket (ie connecting to a satellite)

  13. It is seriously cheap compared to True. As for avoiding results etc, it ain't really possible unless yer a hermit or never get on the net or talk to people.

Watching whole games when u know the result? Why?

Keep True for the other stuff, and have CTH for the live football. 225b a week ain't a lot.

A bonus is that when the rain blox True, CTH comes from the east, not the west, so u will always have TV.

Like somebody else I try to avoid results until at least Monday night. Tough with those damned strap lines and it means you can't watch a news channel for a couple of days. Mondays around here are often sprinkled with expletives when I get caught out, in which case yep I'm much less likely to watch the whole game.

Now if CTH could steal a march on True's previous coverage and do intelligent highlights - either:

A half hour for each game, or even better

10 minutes of first half highlights, plus the whole second half for each game

I'd be in seventh heaven. Hell I'd even go to Bangkok and do the edits for them every other weeklaugh.png (not a serious runner as they would want to edit by ref to the Thai version)! Unfortunately they have to buy-in what Scuddamore or another operator sells them I suspect. P'raps not. Did anyone else notice with True that they arbitrarily cut off from minute 15 ish to minute 25ish on almost every repeat. Sometimes players had disappeared with very controversial red cards or broken legs, WWIII had broken out, but no - you'd missed it and had to sleuth your way through the clues given in the rest of the match.

I'll stop dribbling the next cr@p that comes into my head now (not drinking, honestly)

Blimey. Have you ever thought about getting yourself a life instead whistling.gif

Yeah, but it meant mixing with a load of rude bu$$erslaugh.png .

Yea I know what you mean, I stopped socialising in this country some time ago.

That sounds like something you would smoke.

Thans for the heads up, yes very disappointing the engineer didn't know about this. Idiot.

    I will look into it.

  17. Almost certain we'll get the same coverage as TRUE offered. With advantage of stadium 6 being the 4 game split screen game channel. I've been informed John dykes and Brit presenters will be available.

So bb, if there is more than 5 games being played at the same time do you think they will use other channels, taking into account that there are only 6 stadium channels and one being split screen !

I really wouldn't worry about that, it happens a max of 3 times a season I'd say.

For those still rattling on about True, look I think everyone would agree that apart from having the PL True pisses over CTH in every way....well except for SKY news that is, which I'm really enjoy having by the way. BBC World is bloody dreadful.

  18. Apart from the live games and all the repeats I can't see much else being on these channels.

Personally, I really don't care what else is on channels 131-136. At 300 Baht a month for every EPL game (maybe repeats), I think that is a real bargain....anything else will be a bonus. I'm just glad to have it. smile.png

I never said I cared. I am keeping True Gold, so that's how much I will care.

    It was just an observation.

  19. I appreciate it's still early days but haven't these people got anything else to show apart from the mind numbing rally cross, or whatever it's called?

Apart from the live games and all the repeats I can't see much else being on these channels.

  20. We didn't pay anything in advance just a document that registered us as a customer now on its way to Bangkok.Do they, CTH/Dealers, know what they are doing?,everyone seems to have a different experience

    Yep, nothing is consistent really.

I paid my dealer 2 months, which is what they were asking...has that gone off to CTH? Who knows.

  21. Interesting article in the Bkk post about CTH struggling to meet demand before EPL kick off! Not that we didn't know this already! Thank god I could foresee this and got sorted early. I would post the article, but I'm not allowed.

And thanks to your posts I am sorted as well. Still not had any invoice through the post for payment at the bank, for my one year subscription. Any one had theirs yet?

I paid 2 months in advance so not expecting a bill yet.

If I was a betting man I would say that their invoicing/accounts dept is all over the place, so I wouldn't hold your breath.

Just absolutely scared stiff I will be disconnected for non payment. That would be the end of my world, well end of my weekends at least.

I wouldn't worry, or you could always contact them.
