Unfortunately that is what is required in Australia (cost me something like $400
Luckily it is not required in Thailand... not sure why DFAT in Australia are involved.
Should have just signed the paperwork and had your missus (or Thai friend) fill them out like every other foreigner in Thailand does.

That lack of Visa is exactly what the problem is.
Vehicle needs to be transferred out of your name before it expires or your run into issues like you are having now.
FWIW Ive sold a few cars, never had a lawyer fill out the power of attorney or have DFAT sign anything.
Power of Attorney.
Vehicle transfer form.
copy of visa.
Copy of passport.
residency certificate (or work permit).
Is all that is needed, but I had my Thai missus fill the power or attorney and vehicle transfer and I just signed them.

and typically the deposit for a new car is less than the price of a secondhand one... assuming they qualify for credit and are capable of servicing the loan they will buy new.

That will be the case for Thai to Thai transactions. The minute a Farang enters the equation all the "hurdles" of ownership are introduced and the price goes northbound, especially if the dealer seeing the Farang interest gets the paperwork done.
Have bought and sold a few cars over the years, never been an issue with paperwork if all in order.
Additional paperwork for Foreigner is copy of passport (Thai uses ID card), copy of work permit or residency certificate and copy of valid visa fill out the same power of attorney and vehicle transfer that a Thai would.
where it becomes a hassle if a foreigner is involved is with the copy of visa.

Changing your oil per the manufactures handbook is "giving back to a country that gives you a great life and value for money"?
How truly bizarre.

Yes, which raises the question why is the OP not using what is recommended in the handbook ?

More for the "haves" of Thailand.
"Have nots", born to their status, can go **** themselves.
That was decided in the inner sanctum of the Temple of Troughs, not under the Bodhi tree.
"Have nots" of Thailand please take note.
I'd reckon there is many "have nots" employed by the government that will enjoy the extra 2 days paid leave.

another clown who is daydreaming, that he knows the number of the accountants department of the company, where he is employed. And, ofcourse there are companies, which are even make more profit in these time(Production of face masks, Propaganda, special medical equipment , etc. just look at the stock markets ...)
But I think, we are talking about the generell effects for a whole economy
you want to deny, that civil servants in Thailand are the group , marginal effected by loss of income in this corono circus?
We don't have an accountants dept, we do have finance and purchasing though.

They had civil servants in mind. After all, only civil servants are not affected by the economic damage brought about by Wuhan virus.
Iam not civil servant and this WuFlu has not affected me or the company I work for, we are not in the minority.

So don't do a hit and run and then drink alcohol. Any judge or jury would simply presume you were drunk at the time.
You don't get to claim you got drunk after the fact and your alcohol blood level was so high that you couldn't possibly have been driving.
Burden of proof is on the prosecutor.

No, it would stand up. That's how blood alcohol tests work.
Bit of advice - stop the cotton bud when there's resistance.
It does not prove the alcohol was present at time of accident all it does is prove alcohol had been consumed at some stage prior to the test proceedure.

It has. And proven he was high on cocaine.
You still wanna keep pulling at this thread?
blood alcohol test taken hours after the accident aint gunna stand up in court.

So says them. In the teal world, you can’t drive drunk and kill someone - regardless of how slow you pay the police to say you were going.
Not been proven Boss was drunk but that is irrelevant to my post.
