  1. http://vvcarpart.tarad.com/product_794864_th or http://www.lazada.co.th/shop-replacement-parts-lighting to get an idea of Thai prices. Hope I´m allowed to link that?

Find the cheapest seller back home and get 2-3 packs as the Nightbreakers tend to die faster. My younger brother still has got H4 and he tried A LOT of different bulbs. All major brands showed a good improvement against the standard bulbs. I couldn´t see any big differences between the high end ones though, but I´d say the Nightbreakers were the brightest.

Nightbreaker Unlimited (or the 90+), Phillips X treme Vision, Bosch 90+ are all almost on par and give excellent results.

  2. Can you say "DUH" boys and girls?

    I knew you could!

Is it possible anyone who falls for this stuff deserves what they get?

Are they not also trying to get something for nothing?

How many Thai women work online convincing lonely foreign men to send them gifts or even support them?

    Remember boys and girls...

"When you play with fire, sometimes you get burned."

    No sympathy from me!

    attachicon.gifimages (2).jpg

That´s actually a good point, the hunter suddenly becomes prey! Guess it might be easy to trick some of the women as they may have had their own sucess in finding a naive sponsor and now think the found another fool.

  3. Oh Yes! Previous father in law. Unable to deal with daughter having farang baby. Mounts the stairs wielding large knife to kill farang and grand daughter. . Unfortunately so drunk he had a stroke and fell over backwards down stairs. Still living. Thais say: Oooh Farang have very strong spirits...don't think they had Johnny Walker in mind

    Karma?

Life threatened? Thanks god no, but many many stupid arguments about nothing. Even when I would admit that I´m wrong (actually not) they won´t let go.

  4. The other thing to consider of course is you " RENT " my rent is only 2000 baht a month with bathroom WIFI & SAT TV ( i don't watch TV! ) if you keep your rent nice and low then you can cover your " basic costs " easy on 6,000 baht a month. ( oh and i am just off to the beach right now ( " LIVE " ) and it will cost me about 1 baht for my water! Can you afford to go to the beach viewers...?

    Mr Jaidee thumbsup.gif

Rent 2k, wow that´s cheap!? May I ask where you stay? Not BKK when you´re off to the beach. I have to admit that I have no idea of the costs outside of BKK.

I´ve once seen rooms for rent in BKK for 1800, but these were real sh**holes, dirty and full of crackheads.

Always thought that a reasonable room was around 4k.

  5. Sure but if you live " Thai Style " with sun! It is very cheap! But the moment you live a " farang style " in Thailand eating farang food and alcohol ( which is very expensive! ) then its going to get ridiculously expensive! Keep everything "Thai Style" and 9,000 baht a month wage is perfect!

Hmm no, not perfect. 9K really is a tight budget, it´s possible to live with it, but that´s no life when you think what a Thai has to do for these 9K. How much hours in the heat, factory, shop or whatever. And at home almost zero luxury or pleasure awaits you.

15-20K without Farang stuff will provide a good life though. It´s just that amount of extra money above the 10K which you definately need to cover your basics that will then allow some fun.

  6. Where i live in Naklua ( Pattaya ) most of the Thais that i talk to earn around 9,000 baht a month. Which is quite good when you consider the real living costs of living in Thailand. I can live on less than a Thai i find Thailand ridiculously cheap with the average rents in my area from 2000 to 4000 baht a month.(with balcony WIFI & Sat TV ) I don't drink or smoke and love to walk everywhere.( or by bicycle ) with the average thai meal from the food market from only 20 /30 baht and a 1 hour train journey at only 10 baht. 5L of drinking water is 5 baht.I even had my " Kito " high performance Flip Flops " resoled" the other day for 120 baht ( in the Uk it would cost 1000 baht ! ) so i think a 9,000 baht month wage is a reasonable wage for Thailand.

    God Bless you all ! ( Irish accent ... ) giggle.gif

Have you seen Scott's You Tube I'm an American in Bangkok. He talks about the possibility of living in Thailand on $500 USD (bht16,000) a month. He said it's really not desirable. I guess you would disagree.

Thailand is so much cheaper compared to New Jersey. I took a taxi ride 2 weeks ago to immigration. Took me 40 minutes and paid baht 300. I took a taxi ride in New Jersey last year. The cost was $26 for a 15 minute ride.

Some things in Thailand are so much cheaper, but NOT everything. Labour is cheap, some basics are cheap. The rest is not cheaper than at home but they have significantly lower incomes. I live the same Life here as I did back home. It all averages out to cost the same. When my Som Tum in Germany was 8€ now it´s my favourite cheese that is 8€ ermm.gif Prices have changed, the final bill hasn´t a lot. My home is cheaper, my car is more expensive. and it goes on like that. I could only save A LOT with a huge downgrade in my lifestyle. But I´ll admit that Thailand does have some cost advantage, but for me it´s not that huge.

  7. I AM A RETIRED AMERICAN, 80, LIVED HERE 10 YEARS, HAD 77 CARS PREVIOUSLY - FROM $ 8,000 - $50,000. BEST 2 OF ALL WERE THE 8M MDELS -- KIA AND HYUNDAI BECAUSE ;

UNLIKE MY GERMAN 40-50 GRAND AUTOS, I NEVER HAD TO RETURN TO THE DEALERS FOR ANYTHING

THEY GOT ME FROM POINT A TO POINT B, SOMETIMES CROSS COUNTRY SLOWLY BUT TROUBLE FREE, & EFFORTLESSLY

BOTH HAVE BETTER MOTOR TRAIN WARRANTEES THAN EVEN ROLLS ROYCE

I DIDN'T HAVE TO PAMPER EITHER, SEEK PROTECTED PARKING, DRINK GERMAN WINE,( KA KA ), OR GET A TALL TELMUDIC BLONDE TO BEAT ME NIGHTLY

I BECAME FREE OF STATUS SEEKING AND NO LONGER GAVE A FLYING INTERCOURSE, ( EXPLETIVE DELETED ), WHAT MY NEIGHBORS THOUGHT.

NEVER HAD ANOTHER CAR PAYMENT AND INSURANCE WAS DIRT CHEAP..

KIA NEEDED NEW BRAKE LININGS AT 80,000 MILES SO I GAVE IT TO MY HATED, FAST DRIVING STEP DAUGHTER.

Yes ok, but why do you need to shout at us?

  8. A dry Thailand only affect falang. Thai people are Buddhist and drinking is against believes anyway. This is a Buddhist country.

How much lau khao did you have bf4 this answer came to your mind.....

Anway, I can still go home to where a beer, a pretzel and a sausage are seen as a breakfast when they finally have cracked down on everything thats fun.

  9. Take away his licencse, obviously he´s not in the mental shape to operate a motorised vehicle......too bad this doesn´t mean anything in LOS.

Good thing is (bad for him), now that he´s on youtube everyone can admire this guy´s glory forever.

Deg wean, I fkn h8 them, drving around with a death wish and dragging others into unnecessary accidents bah.gif

why do you assume he has a licence?

hmm there´s at least a small chance?

LICENSE ???? Where do you live ?

well, take a look at the 2nd part of my first sentence......his licencse (if he got one) doesn´t prove anything and has no value. It only proves that one day he was clever enough to find the DLT and put his name under a form. There you go, have fun on the streets smile.png

  11. If you want the same rights as a Thai citizen then the answer is to become a Thai citizen. Others on Thaivisa have done it. If you think it's 'too difficult' then you aren't really serious enough about it.

That´s a big hurdle don´t you think? At least some rights should and must be granted through marriage, which is not the case here. And not every country does allow dual citizenship. And who would want to be Thai only?!

To become a Thai citizen you need to have lived and worked there legally for 3 years. You need to pass an exam showing that you can speak Thai to schoolboy level.

To become a British citizen you need to have lived in the UK for 5 years. You need to pass an exam showing that you can speak English. You also need to pass an exam about 'Life in the UK'.

You see, the "work" thing is not so easy for some. My main income is my business back home. For the UK/EU it´s enough when you are with your husband/wife to claim citizenship (which you actually don´t need anyway as the only advantage will be going to elections)

You think that the only advantage of UK citizenship is being able to vote? How about a passport that will get you into any country in the world? How about access to the full range of social, medical and educational services that are on offer?

As long as you are married, isn't the spouse entiteld to the same benefits like healthcare and such? It sure is the case in Germany, can't be much different in the UK? Travelling was never a big deal, Schengen area is easy and other regions never made a big fuzz about giving visas, fortunately.

  13. this is an example of what would happen,

there was a village 10 miles or so from our village,

the government wanted to build a new dam, they paid the people around that village big big money for there land,

they didnt want to move far, so a few came to our village and surrounding villages,

the land prices hit the roof, were the young in our village couldnt afford to buy land,

the prices are starting to come down again now,

but the same thing would happen if falang could buy land, more money to buy land,,

its the same in some parts of the uk, just outside london and other big cities were the rich are commuting from villages were now the local young people cant afford to buy houses in the village were maybe there family have lived for years,,

i still dont agree with being able to buy land,

    you can own a condo,

im happy with what we have, yes its all in my wifes name, so what,,,

this thread will go on and on,,

i just hope people stay on good terms with each other,

we will all have different opinions,

    be good to each other

Buying land is not on top of the list, that would be a nice giveaway. Let´s start with more basic things which we are also not granted. And what´s the difference anyway, a rich Thai family buying all the land and speculate or some pesky Aliens, the result is always the same in every country, prices rise, not just Thailand.

  14. If you want the same rights as a Thai citizen then the answer is to become a Thai citizen. Others on Thaivisa have done it. If you think it's 'too difficult' then you aren't really serious enough about it.

  15. How can you be intergrated into a society if you have no rights.

Yeah, my wife has all rights in Germany and only had to sign up for her fkn Visa ONCE and we´ve never ever ever ever ever ever been bothered again with some stupid address reporting or renewing anything. 100% Social security, owning land, working, citizenship, support when studying, whatever a foreigner can hope for is possible thumbsup.gif

I know this is a dead horse but I can´t stop blameing the Thais for the way they treat foreigners although we´re married to on of their precious Thai citizens sick.gif

So when I learned "how welcome" I´m in Thailand I´m not very willing to integrate as I´m hardly tolerated. Yes I learned to read and write Thai but only to get to know the enemy biggrin.png I stay away from integrating or trying to feel at home as this isn´t my home and never will be, so why should I care a lot? Waste of my time......

Nothing will change for us, a Lobby? Would be great, but who will listen to these pesky Farangs. Always demanding huamn rights, lol.

  16. Do you have aftermarket xenon bulbs? If so then the shop may have just replaced your headlight with what should have been on your car. Otherwise it would be quite lame from a repair shop to repair a factory fitted xenon car with halogen headlamps?? Even then they should have noticed the difference while testing and ask you if they should reinstall xenon.

Why to worry about the legal problems? I´ve seen blue indicators (aft), purple headlights and the best: I´ve seen some cars now where the owners have replaced all rear lightbulbs with withe ones (indicator, brake and rear light all white in a crystal lamp, no reflectors nothing red) facepalm.gif In a dark road with such a car infront of you you have really no clue what´s going on. But of course going back to xenon is the best choice you made.

yep aftermarket bulbs its a toyota vios

Reflector or projector? So many guys with HID in their reflectors cause terrible glare sad.png I don´t mind refitted HID as Halogen often is quite poor but i think it should at least be done with projector headlights. Your broken light would have been a good opportunity to get some aftermarket upgrade headlights. Btw, there are also HID kits that say they are optimized for reflectors, usually the package says something like HID H7R. Don´t know if they really work better, but mostly the bulb has added a small metal shield to avoid direct eye contact.

  18. This has been a nationwide clean up of the police by the Junta, and migration to cameras for speeders as opposed to the old methods. I travel around the provinces a great deal, and the cop stops are still in the usual places, though less frequent, and from what I hear from everyone is that you won't be able to bribe anyone too easily. Also, I've noticed new cameras, and I play a game of looking for them. (Usually, there will be a wire strung over the roadway to a median or a new opposing lane rack with a camera on it. )I've heard stories of some people trying to be clever with the folded 100-200 notes under the drivers license which they had to the cops, and they hand the money back.

Damn...getting to be just like the places we left....

However, never heard of anyone getting a ticket for less than 10 over the speed limit.

At the place I left there were still quite a few spots where you could legally drive as fast as you please, so whenever I feel the need for speed a trip home works well.

Flooring it in Thailand is not very joyful anyway and I rarely find myself driving or wanting to drive faster than allowed. It´s just no fun and the other drivers usually cause dangerous situations all the time so I don´t want to add more risk by speed. I think it´s good if they try to crackdown on speeding, it will make the roads safer and raise the awareness that everything has consequences. And please dear BIB, don´t forget your red light runner crackdown and push it forward.

  19. Dangerous any where they drive. Uh oh, doesn't matter who their daddy is, they are in Japan.

You mean it`s only Thais that drive recklessly, meaning there are no exceptions and they all have the same traits. I guess that you consider yourself as a model driver wherever you go and consider that your basic mentality is well above the Thais.

I am not trying to defend these people in anyway, but to me you come across as arrogant and just another Thai basher.

Have you sat in a thai taxi these days? It gets worse and worse by day. I seriously start thinking not to drink in a restaurant anymore and drive everywhere myself to that I can avoid these nutters. Nothing to do with Thai bashing, traffic in BKK seems to get worse not better...........very frustrating and dangerous.

Then in your case I advise you acquire your own transport.

I´ve got my own one, but when I like 2 or 3 beers with my Pizza then I don´t use it. My point was that the Thai drivers scare me (even more my wife) more and more. This accident fits to the style of driving I saw as a passenger. Rude, careless, fast, drunk (smell in the Taxi)

The last few rides have been so bad I seriously think of avoiding them. Don´t crackdown on Shishas, fix the traffic please!

  21. It´s kinda funny, they are so proud and say they love their country so much yet to dump trash EVERYWHERE. It´s a shame but noone seems to care and as long as I don´t have to clean it up I don´t mind (anymore) Open google streetview, select any random place/street and you will find trash.

I know I know, developing country, poor people and hard life and so on, yeah all true. But is that a real excuse to dump your crap wherever you are?! Noone says you should get shot for littering like in Singapore but a little bit more environmental awareness would be good for these guys.

  22. No issues driving with red plates for longer. I had to wait 3 months. It's actually in your favour as you don't need to pay road tax as long as you have the red plates.

Acrually I know someone who had red license plate for nearly a year because a) he liked to show off that he had a new car and cool.png he wanted to avoid paying road tax.

However insurance was in my name since day 1 when I picked up my car.

I have seen cars on red plates for 3 years.........nothing special and noone seems to care.
