  1. "major competitors are Germany, Japan and Korea." ???

Eeeerrr how does this work? If Thailand would have OWN car makers then these countries would be competitors. How can Japan be a competitor when Thailand produces cars for them and their brands? Thailand´s competitors are neighbouring countries with cheaper labour and maybe some other rebates also trying to lure foreign investors.

Whenever news about Thailand´s car industry are released it always sounds like the Thais think Mitsu, Honday and Toyota belongs to them..........

  2.

Buy new! Yr wife will be damned happy! Thai peeps are obsessed with getting new cars! LOL

1 million will get the Mitsubishi ex 2.0gt model.
Or the newest ford ecosport at 800+k

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

You can get the Mitsu new, in White, with all the extras for less than 1 million from Mitsu Republic BKK if you're prepared to sit and haggle for a couple of hours. Make a list of everything you want before you go to buy any car. Bought one there back in April. 3 weeks for delivery. I live in Isaan so they shipped it to their main outlet in Khon Khan. If you don't want the paddle shift gear change option get the EX non GT model.

Don´t get the outdated Mitsu, the new Mazda 3 is the way to go. We have a Lancer EX in the family  and I have to say I´m not impressed. Not with the build quality (rattle, squeaking), not happy with the gearbox nor with the engine. But I like the styling, specially when lowerd and some Lancer Evo styling is added wub.png

Look at the Mazda 3, I´d say it got all advanteges over the Mitsu (and many others) It´s really new and lot more modern in every aspect. Ecosport? Sorry, ugly.

  3. Yeh, when car was new was nice and quiet, but the ride was quite hard.

15 months in its like a coffee grinder

Just put new normal tyres on 2 days back and it's a huge change in ride quality and noise.

No place for spare, so I guess this is my last BMW

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

I don´t have a spare tyre either, just a BMW tyrefit kit. But i don´t intend to use it anyway. I will not get out of my car on the BKK highway and fiddle around with some tools while everyone tries to kill me. I´ll call the BMW service to sort that out if my tyre is flat in BKK. When I´m somewhere else I might consider the repair kit.

  4. I think only the first gen run flats had a serious problem but the newer ones don´t seem to be so bad at all. Maybe when the run flats get older the problem comes again faster and more intensive compared to normal tyres. Is the increasing tyre noise a problem that occurs faster in LOS than at home? Maybe the run flats feel so bad as tyres age faster here.

My E89 for example, came with run flats, was fine to drive with them. After a while I exchanged them with 19 inch Toyo Proxes T1R. Thats about 20 month ago and I feel like the car is a LOT louder than at the beginning. That really made me wonder, never had that before.

  5. Why do they worry? As mentioned already, in every line/facebook/sms message around the world slang and shortcuts are used, that´s kinda normal!

And why do people love to take the shortcuts? Because it´s a pain in the ass to type everything correctly and in full lenght with this damn smartphone.....it has nothing to do with the people becoming more stupid or lazy, it´s just more convenient.

And especially the Thais have one more reason to use slang and "wrong" Thai. Even the Thai people know and admit theirself that their language is complicated and annoying sometimes, specially when you use a keyboard. It´s not half as convenient and fast as english. I remember such headlines from Germany too, came up every year on slow news days coffee1.gif

  6. "super premium carrier"? WTH is that? When was the last time they compared their own prices with their competitors? It seems like the majority of the travelers is not interested in anything super premium, specially not in premium prices for mostly average service. Thai is very uncompetitive, both in the economy and in the business/first class service.

  7. "no less than 100 million viewers across the globe"

I´m sorry but this is not the World Cup nor a Justin Bieber concert........but if TAT will count the viewers I´m sure we´ll top the 100mil thumbsup.gif

There will be Thai stars only so the rest of the world will not care at all. But at least the locals will have their fun with some free stuff.

According to a short article from the Nation: "there will be a parade of character to show Thainess" biggrin.pngtongue.png

  8. A more interesting point to make is the associated 'cost' involved in Halal. My sister has been an educator in Australia for many years, teaching Home Economics, which of course includes a cooking class. She has now been "forced" to purchase Halal food against her own conscience. It goes like this...... If she does not purchase Halal food, then she is discriminating against students who are required to eat it. The school budget does not allow for the purchase of Halal, which IS more expensive. It also limits the curriculum she is then allowed to teach, certain recipes must be excluded as they can not be made Halal. My sister is a soft touch, and she like a lot of teachers, just takes the extra from her own pay packet and gets on with it. There are costs well beyond that people do not see. Last I checked multi-culturalism, does not mean bending to one way of thinking or a religion.

    Oz

Let's see, she buys halal and all the kids in her class can participate. She doesn't, some kids miss out. One is catetering to everyone. One isn't.

You have strange definitions of 'bending one way or another'.

Funny no one here has a problem with kosher food or those with gluten intolerance. All you care about is instilled 'us and them' attitudes with kids, no less.

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Paying xtra to accommodate a religion regardless of the religion is different than gluten... I can choose to not buy gluten free but can I buy religion free of the same product at a cheaper price?

Sent from my LG-P970 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Religion free product clap2.gif That´s the next big thing smile.png

  9. Killing an animal should be fast, painless and effective!! Our industrialised killing of animals is acutally disgusting enough, but we all love our steaks so somehow it has to be done.

The thing is that the muslim or jewish style to kill the animals is intended to be "human" and not to torture them. Maybe this was an ok procedure some 100 years ago but nowadays there are better ways to do it and religion shouldn´t conflict with modern science.

I like to eat meat but I don´t want animals to suffer more than necessary. I grew up eating meat from local farmers and from my uncle´s farm, my family never liked to support the meat industry.

    Halal style? unsure.png

  10. It does all seem like minor variations of the same story to me, but I find the constant need for a monologue explaining aloud what the character is feeling because the actor is incapable of expressing it, and the long lingering pauses where people stand gazing into space to a musical background to make sure every episode of every soap is an excruciating 2 hrs plus long to be particularly comical.

Gotta say that the actresses are getting better looking though, probably because many of them are half farang. At least there is one thing we are still needed for.

Yeah, same stuff over and over again, but demand seems to be there.

Actors are either half farang or have got some major surgeries, what´s on screen then is so far off any Thai reality that I really wonder why they are watching it. I´d be pissed to get constantly reminded how much "better" they are. Where are the loser lads like Duck Heffernan, Homer Simpson or Al Bundy tongue.png

  11. In our house and life Thai TV/Radio is completely banned! Since we were living in Europe for a long time we both cannot stand anything that is on air here. Sure we´ve got a lot of crap too, but as many already mentioned there are many gems between all our western rubbish.

My wife also used to watch a lot of that stuff when she was young but now she´s just annyoed by it (thank you lord wai.gif )

In the car I use my iphone to listen to my favourite radio stations from home with a real news programm or my fav music without any boing sounds - what a relief for my ears.

Boooiiinnnng, dmm dmmm dmmm diimmmm, zeeeeooow sick.gif

  12. Actually I agree about it 100%, just go for it. Everybody which complains about the roads are perhaps living somewhere in Isaan.

In BKK,Hua Hin,Chonburi and Pattaya the main roads are quite good and can drive quite ok.

Drive myself a Benz Coupe since a couple of months but a GTR would be damn nice, however I would prefer a Boxter or Cayman for that budget but thats imo.

To the OP, just go for it en enjoy!

    What?? BKK? Seriously? Not really......

I really like cars and spent a lot of money for my passion, but here in LOS I´m getting tired of it. Driving is just not what it used to be and I seriously wonder if my Bimmers were a good idea.

Maybe I´ll just get a Tuna and stop thinking about cars coffee1.gif sad.png

AXA even didn´t want to insure my Z4. My 320d has MSIG, they also didn´t want my Z4. I wanted to change from Falcon which BMW set up for us with the purchase.

  13. Argentina faces Germany for the World Cup and Nazi War Criminals on the run don't know who to root for.

Did you check your calender recently? It´s 2014!!

Not much people get older than 100......coffee1.gif They are all dead and gone, the remaining two or three will soon follow, don´t worry.facepalm.gif

Germany will have a hard time to beat Argentina, but´s not impossible. Brazil delivered a poor performance in every game and they got what they deserved from Germany.

Against Argentina I´m very afraid that Germany will have the same problems as Brazil had, high expectations, too high maybe.

  14. Yes, of course sometimes you need to take a stand on principle, but people really need to learn to pick their battles.

This dispute is probably over 100 Baht or less, and this guy is in jeopardy of getting beaten by a group or run over by a car.

How true, doesn´t matter who´s wrong or right. If 50,100 or 150B more or less can solve this problem I´ll always opt. to pay and let it go. There´s nothing to win here.

  15. In Bangkok with it´s huge traffic jams you can expect to have 7-8L for 100km with a 320D. A x25i straight six can use up to 14,5L of gasoline for the same task. But I never cared about fuel economy, so maybe less is possbile. Outside BKK on a lonely road 6l maybe 5,5l should be realistic with aircon. I don´t know if under 5l is possible in Thailands driving conditions, never tried that hard.....

Not that it matters a lot when you consider the cars prices, but the difference between 100km diesel and petrol is quite impressive:

    7,5L of diesel for 100km = 225B

    14L of gasohol 95 for 100km = 574B

Service can be from facepalm.gif to thumbsup.gif . The Millenium dealers in BKK have a very different level of quality.

If the gearbox is not broken, the 320d is a lot of fun with it´s massive torque. And why to worry, warranty for 5years and then you can extend it to 6years. Whatever brakes, who cares. I never had a problem, some others were less fortunate though.

  16. Use "Gravatar" it changes almost immediately, fast and efficient, I think it may even be run by Klingons !

gravatar seems is run by deplorable Ferengis. to register one is supposed to use the "sign in" button. after clicking on this button one is entertained by a blank screen dry.png

So you have got troble with the webpage itself as you cannot follow the "sign up" link?

Maybe you can try to register directly at wordpress.com as these services are linked.

I´ve no idea how to fix any problems regarding the avatar issue when using the TV´s own option. I just noticed all the problems you are having too, like the avatar in the profile and the acutal posts don´t match or the picture seem to change randomly by itself. I never figured out how to solve that. Maybe you stick to your support thread then.

So right now you don´t use Gravatar because it´s stupid to register? Maybe, but if you finally did register there it´s a breeze compared to the TV system.

To stay on topic, I don´t have any flag of the Vaterland, though I love and miss it. Never felt to need to show everyone where I´m from. Most of the time I´m even "undervocer" with some US or UK Polo shirts smile.png

i did not find it "stupid" to register but "impossible" to register. but now, with you as an advisor and guru, i might be able to register using your kind guidance whistling.gif

Ahh sorry, what I wanted to write was like: You didn´t like the registration procedure there. What I wrote imposes you don´t like Gravatar smile.png

  18. I´m having a beer  with every supper. 0,5 if I choose something from my home or 0,6x if Thai. Once or twice a month at the weekend it can be more, 2 or 3 beers. Sometimes the beer is replaced with a glass of red wine. This has become a habbit since many many years and I don´t intend to change that. That´s too much already, I know. But there is nothing in this world that doesn´t kill you.

    Prost!

Why don’t you “fly the flag”?

where in Pattaya can i buy the national flag of Waziristan?

When you fix your Avatar picture, I'll give you one for free thumbsup.gif

Thaivisa software does not let me fix my avatar! all attempts to change in vain. the old distorted picture comes up again... and again... and again... again... and again... and again...again... and again... and again...again... and again... and again...again... and again... and again...again... and again... and again...again... and again... and again...again... and again... and again...again... and again... and again...again... and again... and again...again... and again... and again...

Naam, have you tried the Gravatar option to host your avatar? The TV board seems to have trouble whenever you try to change the picture, had the same issues.

Since I use Gravatar it´s all fine thumbsup.gif

  21. I believe this is the guy:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yPRUR135aY

If the OP´s looking for the guy from YT, then I gotta say that his food was not exceptional anyway. And he did not have my favourite "Yam Naem" sad.pngbiggrin.png

But he isn´t selling noodle soup, haven´t seen him for quite a while now. Usually you could meet him right in front of the 7/11 from the video. Are thre more French guys in Chinatown selling food?
