  1. Simple question:

Who 'normally' submits the application for a work permit - the employer or employee and more importantly, who 'normally' pays for it.

I am being pushed in the direction that as the employer has little experience in W.P. that I should arrange it all myself and consequently pay the fee myself.

Perhaps there is no 'normal' way of doing things and it depends on who can persuade who to do it ? (and pay for it)???

If you are been hired by a reputed company the normal practice is that the company will arrange the work permit and visa for you. Specially work permit as it needs lots of documents from the company. Haven’t heard yet that one can apply a work permit by himself. In our case (Thymode91 and I) both visa and work permit applied, renewed and paid by the company. :o

  2. This is a very boring question. Since this is an all English site naturally there will be lots more people from English speaking countires. You will get a completely diffrent survey if this is a German sites. English is an international language but most people still learn it as 2nd or 3rd language and most people around the world still feel to lazy to participate in a language that is 2nd or 3rd to you.

OK,OK..I am from a very small island call SriLanka. And I regard English as my second language... :o

  3. well, dah! origial "native" teachers ARE more expensive. Sounds like true revelation.

one gentleman lives in our condo - english teacher - real native - I think too native to understand, but it is real english and it's my problem I don't get half of what he sais.

on another side, there are lotsa southern asian ppl around Silom area - I understand 100% of what they say, but for **** sake! what kind of language is it ?

not even a touch of real one.

So, who wants his kid talk like mumbay's riksha and pay for it ?!

It has to be only native, no subs at all.

What was the language that southern Asian ppl using? If its not ENGLISH how did u understand them 100%? :o It looks like u white folks are bit of shaken of loosing your superiority over English teaching :D

At least Thai students can now learn that “Meiya Noi” is not “miner wife” (as some white skin English teachers teach them) but "mistress"! :D

  4. It’s ingrained in them from an early age to believe that they are the never-colonized master race of Asia (yes they really think that)

Complete rubbish, IMO. I've been here 28 years and have never heard a Thai express such an idea, whether in words or action. There may be a minority who think like this, but this statement alone shows off the OP's callow take on Thailand.

U may never heard that but for my 10 years staying here I heard that crap many times. Sure I am going to hear it many more times... :o

  5. i personally thing it is ridiculous to have bikini wear anywhere near a religious building. temple or church.  i am buddhist, it is definitely not respectful.  same goes with a church.  would their religion like to see bare naked women posing? it is just common sense! "...did not realise that the temple is sacred for Thais"... <deleted> is this?? didnt know?? please...this isn't childs play.  the viet pic above is appropriate... nicely dressed but in a hotel...and if in bikini..that would be fine as well...but in a religious place? get the F...out of here... and dont tell me that church stuff, its spread all over this world..and people dress in clothes that pay respect.... US is populated with this christian or whatever... man... give me a break

    good post.......... :o

  6. A Thai told me the pink lady lost a child and then lost the plot??

Anyone seen the fat old Budda-looking tramp who walks around the 2-way stretch of changklan Rd.? He'as always got a poysian stick up his nose!!

    Budda-looking... :o

did U realy mean it.. ::D

  7. merton :  I (we) are really stretching our imaginations to,,,

Also a lot of you falang stay in Thailand and may you not writhe or red a word of thai language . why is this ? you don’t like Thailand or is not easy for you . or if same of you talk in thai language .. they use too cheap and bar style accent and sentence  in stead of grammatical thai language  , ?

  8. :D its was a trick for them to earn more, specially you are a foreigner. try to avoid them... check the meter when you got in and don't tell where are you going until the meter is not plug down, I my self got a sad experience about the taxi cab. we just came from a bussiness trip with my friend then got out from the airport and ride a taxi but I did not notice at first that the meter is not plug down. when we reach home then the taxi driver wanted to charge us 1600 THB but it was originally 500THB fare from Airport (Don Muang) to Samutprakan area. so we don't give him a sh*t, we got down unload our luggage, i gave him 800 THB and close our gate ... :D thats fair enough for those cheater... I told the taxi cab driver that if he doesn't want to move out from our place then I will call a police then he move his a*s but he's very angry with us... :D  :D

:D Believe him guys. I was there too :o
