From the thai embassy in Israel

I plan to spend 2 months in Thailand without prior visa, then come back to Europe for 2 weeks, then go again in Thailand for three months with a visa non immigrant O. As the embassy here in Europe takes at least 4 weeks to process a visa, can i apply while still in Thailand ? It is done online, so i don't see how they would know in which country i am. Not trying to go against the rule, but to save me some time. Thanks

I can be wrong, but I think you cannot use a german health insurance, it has to be a Thailand based company approved by the BOI

How can they announce such important changes impacting all their tourists, but not providing any details about it ? Probably the immigration officers don't even know what it is all about...Anybody in a real company would be fired immediately for not having thought about it.

Wondering.... When will the 60 days on arrival begin ? Will there be a 30 days extension available ? How many of these 60 days on arrival will be accepted per year ? Will there be a difference between arrivals by land or plane ? Can't see anything in my crystal ball at the moment

I applied two days ago...and made screen captures of the whole process : they are asking for the tax returns of the past 2 years. But maybe one year only and some bank statements for the current year could be ok, who knows ? It probably depends a lot on the screening officer.

The past 2 years for the income...so you need to wait till you get the tax return for last year.

Everybody is digital if they have a computer, and nomad if they change place from time to time...curious to know how people will qualify for this kind of visa...

Unfortunately embassy, immigration and airlines don't want to know about possible extension of stay even if everyone is entitled to get one. They just stick with how many days will be stamped in your passport on arrival, hence the hassle of having to change your return ticket or buying a cheap disposable one.

They made you buy a ticket within 60 days because you had a TV and a return flight between 60 and 90 days, or because you did not have any return ticket ?

Exactly...i believe this 60 days on arrival will simply replace the 30 days + 30 days extension that everybody does and gives a lot of work to immigration officier for no reason. So your hope of 60 days+30 days extension could be wrong...just wait and see. In that case the 60 days tourist visa with 30 days extension would still be relevant.

I am in the process of acquiring an LTR Visa for retiree. With this 10 years LTR visa you don't need to "requalify" each year...just reporting where you stay. You only have to show that you still qualify after 5 years, and it's free. Seems pretty good to me.

I always buy a return ticket after 30 days, and once in Suvarnabhumi i change it to 60 days. But of course it is better if you can change your ticket with no fee. And there is always the possibily that the flight back after 60 days is full... But every flight company knowing now that you can always extend the visa free entry by 30 days, i suppose they will let you board even with a return ticket after 60 days, right ? Did you ever had some bad experience ?

Don't get too excited, the 30 to 60 days change will probably stay only a few months until december. As they did with the 30 to 45 days...letting people stay 30 days more for free instead of making them pay 1900 bahts ?...Naaaah

Actually it depends if you can extend that new 60 days visa on arrival...if you can extend by another 30 days it is basicaly a single entry tourist visa. If not, a tourist visa will still allow you to stay longer because of the extension. Anyway i think this change will not last for long, like when they gave 45 days instead of 30 days last year, but reverted to 30 days a few months later...Thailand the land of uncertainty....

OK thanks. So for me the cheaper Plan 1 with 300 000 bahts deductible will do, at 60 years old it is only 5 865 bahts. I see there is a big step from 60 to 61 yo, becoming 17 350 bahts. Meaning that for AXA real health problems begin after 60 years old... On the attestation given by AXA, do they mention the type of Visa (LTR), Plan number, and value of the deductible ?

"Plan 1 with 2M maximum benefit is good enough for LTR visa" I am also interested in AXA health insurance but not sure about plan 1 or 2 and the deductible. Do you mean Plan 1 with 200 000 deductible is OK ?

Enjoy your 30 days stay then extend it for 30 more days Make a short visa run and get 60 days with your e-Visa (careful to check its time validity) and extend it for 30 days So all in all you could stay 150 days if needed.

Police yesterday, November 6, arrested the first suspect, a 41 year old insurance broker named Pasin. Pasin sold his clients’ information to the fraud gangs. The Deputy Commissioner of the CCIB, Thana Choowong, said the fraud gangs used personal information to make victims trust them and transfer the requested money. Having just given them my tax form showing that the taxes have already been paid, how could they possibly want to tax that money again ? Not sensible...anyway i don't and won't have any bank account in thailand, i just access the money from abroad through ATMs

I was not aware that i could submit the health insurance certificate only after the visa being pre-approved, so thank you for pointing that out to me. Good idea to keep the insurance policy effective every year. I am suprised at how easy the whole LTR visa application process seems to be for retirees, nice change from the other visas i have been through.

To Thailand J Thank you so much, i was not aware that the health insurance requirement was so easy to get and so cheap...you are right with AXA on line it is only 5865 baths (150 euros), and you get it in a few click. Will do that... That is for one year. Do they ask every year to see that insurance renewed? Not being english or american, i still have to translate my income tax statements, i will contact the embassy to find a certified translator into thai.

I have realized that they don't actually ask for money in a bank account, but for a "money deposit". So I have decided on a solution that does not show any bank account. I will give them the quaterly statements from my investment in mutual funds. There is no way anybody can touch that online or offline without my approval and signature. Problem solved 😀

Yep. My thinking too...doctoring the number is a bad idea. Anyway i could still be honest and simply blur it, and they could ask for it later if they need it. But after having given it some more thought, i will simply give them the statements with the number, as everybody does without problem. No worth the risk the visa being denied or delayed for that small matter.
