LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
Interesting. Would you mind sharing the letter in thai describing the procedure ? Did you make an appointment before going to TIESC, by phone or mail ?

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
You need to show health insurance valid for at least 10 months at the time of application. So it would be risky to make your insurance start at a later date. Normally you could provide it at the end of the endorsment process, but they can also ask for it at the beginning (as they did for me, even if i had send them the Document Request Acknowledgement Form). The more you follow what they ask, even if not always relevant, the better chances you'll be approved.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
The 60 days is the period, after you get Boi approval, to ask for the visa online from your embassy, or in BBK if you are in Thailand. Once you get it online there is no obligation to enter Thailand before 60 days.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
I sent them everything in the initial application : proof of passive income, bank statements, tax returns 2023 and 2024. Every file had a front page explaining what was in the file, i made everything as simple as possible. I don't think it could have been approved after only two days. But as everything was there and simple to understand, the screener may have thought i would be approved and asked for health insurance to have a complete application package to give to his manager. The insurance start date was the day i sent it, as i did not know the processing time.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
I've just been recently approved for LTR visa, and i can confirm they asked for the health certificate just a few days after my initial application. I was surprised, as i thought i would have to buy the insurance only after being endorsed. Not wanting to compromise my application i bought one online straight away (about 400€), hoping that it won't be for nothing… Maybe the screener saw that the documents i had already sent would make me easily eligible, and asking the insurance that soon would make things faster (took 3 weeks) ? Who knows.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
Correct me if i am wrong, but in case of getting an eVisa from an oversea embassy, the PDF page you get replaces the Visa stamped in the passport. What i am worried about is getting the correct stamp on arrival showing the "permit to stay until" date. I would be thankful to learn what exactly is stamped in your passport when you show them the eVisa for the first time at BKK airport.

And so much better than the Elite visa : no 90 days reporting, tax exemption on oversea income, and of course...no 1,5 Million bahts like for the 10 years Elite!

The advantage of having an e-Visa is that you don't have to transfer any stamps. For the first LTR stamp i prefer to have it done at BKK airport before going to Phuket. Not sure if the immigration at Phuket airport is well aware of the LTR visa, even if they surely have a fast track lane. Haven't been there for a long time. Thanks for your advices. Cheers

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
Travelling will get much simpler I guess the officier will stamp "LTR admitted until"...the last day of validity of my passport (because my passport has only 4 years left, less than 5 years) ? Is it easy to get the first LTR stamp in Phuket, or is it safer to go to BKK first ? Thanks

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
I have just received the LTR visa approval letter from the BOI. Total time with BOI : 5 weeks. 1 week to upload additional documents (health certificate and 2024 tax return), 3 weeks to get approved, 1 week to receive the letter. Does anybody know what are the documents needed for the second 5 years period ? And how long the process must be started before the extension ? Thx

Timing of Initial Entry to Thailand on LTR Visa
When you get a 2 months (= visa length) thai Tourist visa, you have three months (= visa validity) to use it from the day it was issued. So the 2 months period begins from the day you enter Thailand, and not from the day it was issued. So i thought it could be the same for the LTR visa, the 5 years period (length) would begin the first time you use it... But then how long would be allowed before using it (validity) ? A few months would make sense, people cannot jump into a plane to Thailand the day they receive their LTR visa.

Timing of Initial Entry to Thailand on LTR Visa
I am myself in the process of applying for the LTR-WP Visa, and it is easier to receive the visa in my country as a PDF with E-Visa. Does the 5 years period begins the day the visa is issued at the embassy, or is it the first day you enter Thailand with your new visa (as for a Tourist visa) ? Thx

LTR Visa starts when ?
Thanks for your information : the visa validity starts from the day you get it. So no need to rush for your visa if you don't plan on travelling soon to Thailand. I disagree about the visa stamped in your passport being better than on a sheet of paper like for the e-Visa. What if your passport is damaged, lost, stolen ? Or it is expired and you need to make a new one ? Simply having a piece of paper to show, or to have in your phone, is much more hassle free in my opinion.

LTR Visa starts when ?
I will apply for an LTR visa for Whealthy Pensioner. As i stay now out of Thailand, the visa (if approved) should be received online. Sorry if my following question has already been answered, but i can't find where. The 10 years validity starts the day your visa is approved, or the day you enter Thailand with your new visa ? Thanks

Anyone ever tried applying for an e-visa while still in Thailand?
I plan to spend 2 months in Thailand without prior visa, then come back to Europe for 2 weeks, then go again in Thailand for three months with a visa non immigrant O. As the embassy here in Europe takes at least 4 weeks to process a visa, can i apply while still in Thailand ? It is done online, so i don't see how they would know in which country i am. Not trying to go against the rule, but to save me some time. Thanks

I can be wrong, but I think you cannot use a german health insurance, it has to be a Thailand based company approved by the BOI

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
I applied two days ago...and made screen captures of the whole process : they are asking for the tax returns of the past 2 years. But maybe one year only and some bank statements for the current year could be ok, who knows ? It probably depends a lot on the screening officer.

Unfortunately embassy, immigration and airlines don't want to know about possible extension of stay even if everyone is entitled to get one. They just stick with how many days will be stamped in your passport on arrival, hence the hassle of having to change your return ticket or buying a cheap disposable one.
