  1. I am respected as most other normal people, don´t worry about me.

I am talking in general, I am not speaking about myself.

What I am saying is, "farang" is an objectifying word, and by increasing the use, and promoting this word, it only makes us appear more distant and more "other", than is necessary.

This in itself, makes it easer for Thais to not relate to us, scam us, and rip us off, etc.

I am talking about you. You say above that you are respected. What do you do that makes you respected that is different than most people?

I have become part of my Thai community so I don't have any problems. But what is it that you do? I speak Thai am a Buddhist and help with community projects. What do you do? I help with stray dogs getting them neutered and checked by the local vet. People here appreciate that. What do you do?

You did say you were respected, right? I told you what I do to gain that respect. What do you do?

You can complain about the darkness or light a candle. What do you do?

You can praise Buddha as much as you want, speak Thai fluently and break your back for your community. At the end of the day you are, will always be just a farang.

You will never be respected as a Thai (even the lowest Thai), merely tolerated and when it comes down to it, will receive no more respect than Joe Whiteboy straight off the airbus at swampy.

    Get used to it.thumbsup.gif

Precisely. If this guy gets run down by a truck in front of the temple, the villagers would giggle and go thru his pockets.

  2. Don't like to say it but K.Prayuth maybe the only way out of what is surely to become a train wreck. It's just sad, really is.

Come on Thailand, please sort it out!,

    Yours sincerely,

    A concerned observer wai.gif .

Good old General Prayuth. You don't get to the top of the Thai Army by having high morals or ethics.

How many billions is he worth I wonder?

His boss is itching for a coup but he can't until the rent a mob closes the airport or gets a bunch of people killed.

  3. What is clear is that the people won't stop now until ties with Thaksin himself have been shattered. That is the reason for the march continuing

They themselves, the protestors in their millions today, are now clear and fully aware that the continued financial rape by the PTP over the last two years, and prior, has been a continuation of one idiot's narcissistic actions. They will now stop at nothing until anybody connected with him is completely ousted and broken, it would appear

Personally, I hope they achieve their aims!

    -mel.

    In their millions ? jerk.gif

    Too bad they don't vote.

Mob rule is clearly the way to go.

You are joking right ? millions ? far from even a 1/10 of one million, The people my friend are not just a few thousand in Bangkok, that is just wishful thinking.

I predict less than 50k at most today now its a reset coffee1.gif

1/10 of one million? I respect your approximation.

But my approximation is closer to 10 millions Thai people in the street right now.

Now if they could just get all those people to vote....

  5. Has the road surface started falling apart yet? It only took a few weeks for pot holes and ruts to appear on the first section they completed by Soi 5/ Soi Rompho.

The new road and the new footpaths near the beginning of Jomtien 2nd road already look like the remnants of a B-52 Bomber strike. Turns into a lake after 10 minutes of rain. It might have held up better if the contractors had thought of drainage...

Further down there are some fun whoopdeedoos from subsidence or sinkholes.

Near Soi 9 the 3 northbound lanes unusually turn into 2 1/2 lanes on a bend... ooops.

  6. Disney in Florida has double pricing

Really? A Thai buys a bottle of water, the vendor sizes them up and charges more, eh?

Disney does offer a discounted price if you live in the area.

During the original permitting process to build the park, some locals fought against the development.

Part of the mitigation was to offer them a special entry price for all the impact the park had on their community.

If you drive in from Pittsburgh you pay the same as a Thai. Not a racist or scam policy.

  7. Big problem is that you have to dissolve the government right away. If not then PTP can go into gift mode and give to the people that are uneducated enough to be bought.

Is the problem 'gifts to the uneducated poor' or is the problem the 'educated abusing the poor" for all these decades?

I'm pro poor and supporting them is the moral thing to do.
