Is this legal? So Prayut, an unelected Prime Minister, decides to become an unelected leader of a political party of his choice! Presumably he is using Article 44 whilst he still can. This is democracy?

I find it absolutely incredible, that an election has been held, seats either won or allocated over several weeks, and only now are the junta party deciding on policies! What was their election platform? Did they even produce a manifesto? Or did the Thai populous just vote for the colour of the shirt?

Why is this news? It clearly started some years ago and is nowhere near completion (2022?) so why all the excitement?!!

Khon Kaen told me that my 150k per month was no good, I needed to have the 400k in the bank.
Can you be more specific please. I guess that this was for a marriage extension. Which IO said this (no. 1,2,3, or 4). The rules clearly state 400,000 in bank account or minimum of 40,000 per month! Was the monthly amount in a Thai bank account?

By using 4000 teak trees in the construction and decoration of this monstrosity, the Government are certainly showing complete disregard for the effects of deforestation and the effects that will have on local populations, let alone climate change! So much for a love of the peoples of Thailand!

I see that the Water Department are toeing the Government line for the future with their "RID CREATIVITY & INNOVATION 2019" theme! That is exactly what a repressive government does. What is so special about 117th anniversary anyway?

I am reminded of the wonderful music of Les Miserables!
"Do you hear the people sing,
Singing the songs of angry men?
It is the music of the people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!
Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Somewhere beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Then join in the fight
That will give you the right to be free"
If only the people and in particular the students of Thailand had the fire in their bellies that the students and people of France had at that time, and come to think of it, today, to stand up to this oppressive military regime! Thais will never be free whilst they bow and scrape to anyone who they see as superior, from the village chief, to teachers, to the lowest civil servant, right through to MPs the Prime Minister and above. Democracy is dead until people, like Future Forward Party, stand up for their rights!

I have had retirement extensions on a non immigrant O visa (retirement) for the last 6 years and have never been asked for a medical certificate. Is this a new requirement or just one not used by my IO?

What happened about your Embassy Statutory Declaration?

This is typical of the Thai Education system! If the pass mark in anything is 60% and someone gets 61%, that is a GREAT success, 62% is FANTASTIC, 63% is an AMAZING achievement, etc, etc! Meanwhile in the real world 65% is seen as scraping through and 90% would be seen as good! :-)

Dear Bad Spotted Dog, thank you so much for sharing this sad situation with us at such a difficult time for you and your family. Which one of us, faced with a parent with Alzheimer's, or any terminal illness, would not want the best for them. I love Thailand, but sadly, I do find that their is very little human compassion when it comes to situations like this. Immigration, it would appear, are happy to bend the rules when it comes to filling their back pockets, especially through dubious agents, but when it comes to advising and helping those in genuine need, they are strangely silent. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your mother as you embark on yet another stressful journey.

Rather than being "marred" by protests and boos, I would say that it showed a healthy opposition to the previous "rubber stamp" military junta government! Obviously the writer has never watched the UK House of Commons debates or PMs Questions. I think that there will be some lively debates ahead :-)

Thank you for explaining, in some part, the rather obscure system of allocating University places in 5 rounds. I wonder if the 14,932 vacant places following the fourth round will be added to the fifth round allocation. My daughter is still hopeful that she will be accepted at Mahasarakam University Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, following the Fifth round, as she has been unsuccessful so far :-(

Hang on a minute, if there is a Senatorial Election Act, there must have been some sort of Senatorial Election. And yet how come all the 250 Senators have been hand picked by the junta leader on behalf of he who must be obeyed?

I find it amazing that the "cabinet", with half its members missing as they are now "senators", continue to pass laws and make up rules until the very last minute! This one will enable senior civil servants to continue their corrupt practices for many more years. No matter how long they keep working for extra money and perks, they can't take it with them when they die!

Given the price of cheese and other dairy products in Thailand, there must be some scope here to use excess milk production. Of course, this would require some joined up thinking. [emoji848]
I would give my eye teeth (if I had any) for some decent strong cheese. Dairy, goat and sheep farmers in other countries produce their own in both large and small scale. The initial outlay is probably not too expensive and a start up contribution from government could lead to rich pickings, for those willing to give it a try!

Does the US government have shares in Private hospitals in Thailand? No mention of the excellent world class treatment that is available in public, government run hospitals at a fraction of the cost!

I was at Mahasarakam University 2 days ago sitting in my car waiting. There were hundreds of students rushing about on motorcycles some "3 up"! So I decided to count the number without helmets, just to while away the time. Out of the 200 motorcyclist and pillions that I counted only 19 were wearing helmets! Less than 10%!!! And these are university students whom one would hope would be amongst the brightest in society. Obviously not!!!

All of this is very interesting but begs the question, why don't the hospitals, whether public or private have insurance against theft? For example, if I have my wallet stolen whilst in hospital, having given it to medical staff for safe keeping, I would expect the hospital to reimburse me through their insurance policy. Non payment of any bill is theft and should of course be dealt with by full force of the law, but the hospitals should insure themselves against such theft! It's the same as landlords insuring themselves against tenants who fail to pay rent. Just common sense, don't force ridiculous insurance premiums on people who cannot claim due to age and pre-existing conditions who always pay their hospital bills!

I'm certain that we'll soon have to pay a "breathing thin air" tax.
Never be implemented due to the thick air of pollution!

Let's just wait and see shall we, before we get involved in hypothesis. No start date has been given, and many details need to be published before any decisions can be made or informed discussion. It may all have been forgotten in a year's time. Stay calm and wait!

- Older UK citizens may remember Archie Andrews, the ventriloquist's dummy operated by Peter Brought in the famous radio series Educating Archie in the 1950s.
Archie is also the shortened form of the name Archibald, derived from medieval Germanic words "erchan" meaning genuine or precious and "bald" meaning bold.

Wow, at last an article which actually names the dangerous supplements! Usually they are afraid to do so for fear of being sued. Well done, for some sanity at last :-)
