  1. Some people view this as a kind of victimless crime. Having been on the wrong end of credit card fraud, as I am sure many other posters have been, it is anything but: stressful, intrusive, time consuming and a bloody pain. Sure, you get the money back after a while but it's still a horrible experience. These people are wicked and should be sent to prison.

  2. Why is it always "battling" Alzhemier's? It is a one-sided battle in most cases. As far as I can see the best approach is to plan an exit with some dignity about it while it is still possible to make an informed choice. The alternative , in the end stages, is months or years of misery and a world of pain for everyone around the patient ( who has long since 'left the building').

  3. I only drink over priced ( over taxed ) Youngs london Gold Youngs special London Wells Bomardier Wells Bombardier Burning gold and Oettinger Black Beer But then again I do not mind spending more to get what I likewhistling.gifclap2.gif

Yes, all the local stuff is catpiss rubbish. The Japanese make the only decent beer in Asia and it's blown out of the market by protectionism.

Not sure how to interpret cat piss.Percent alcohol or general taste?

Both. Too thin and sweet. Aside from the boutique beers mentioned before, the Japanese dry style is more my taste but I guess it's a very subjective thing. Some people like sweet wine or southern comfort

  5. It all depends on how it it is implemented. In other countries where this has been tried the results have been negative: people have used free ER treatment for non-emergency conditions , resulting in WORSE care rather than better. If it's for a heart attack, stroke or similar emergency, fine...but it's often misused so that patients avoid the need to pay to see a GP. A good idea but needs careful management.

  6. " Speaking after his meeting with officers of the Consumer Protection Police Division, Suphajon said he was not aware of the nature of UFUN's business. He said he also hosted an event earlier announcing the opening of UFUN's headquarters at Bang Na-Trat soi 25 "

Arai na? pom my rue reiang.... in his defense, I tend to believe him, being dumb and stupid is not beyond

some of the local celebrities.... and others in general...

Indeed correct...Thailand is a world hub of dumb celebrities ( not to say innocent or otherwise).

  7. Indonesia has been shamed into vague action on the matter....this from the country that permitted if not encouraged tens of thousands of asylum seekers temporary transit in Indonesia, via visa free entry, to those intending to sail to Australia ( including the payment of bribe money to local officials). Now they want someone else to pay and to guarenteed resettlement elsewhere.

Is the Koran silent on the question of assisting the brethren in need?

  8. I was so surprised to see a report once about this piece of wear.

To us they might look all the same.

Indeed there are subtle differences which are enough to identify which country one comes from e.g.

It goes further than nationality...to ethnicity/ sect/tribal connection.

On a completely unrelated matter, going into a public toilet in Saudi and similar places it is odd but understandable why the ratio of stalls to urinals is about 20/1. Those garments must be a bugger if you need to pee in a hurry.

  9. Surely the capacity issue is to do with infrastructure rather than air space. The likelihood of a bus to and from the plane was very high but has lessened in recent times. Often the " F " gates end of the terminal are not all busy during the evening and arrivals/departures are very limited between midnight and 6.00am.

Ground issues... baggage, immigration, check in, transport services...all stretched during peaks

Maybe winding back on open skies might have something to do with the national carrier being under significant pressure.

  10. Quite aside from the morality of the matter, he's not very bright if he announces his intention to seek employment in another country after being banned in his own. As for the case , it would not have attracted the notoriety it did if he had not taken the girl overseas...that's a bit like kidnapping ( even with her consent). The sex is a pretty minor case, probably a stupid mistake , for which he has been rightly severely punished, rather than a true pedophile.

  11. Thailand as any other sovereign nation has a right to protect it's borders from illegal boat people wherever they come from. Why do countries have border protection practices in place ? not for the fun of it thats for sure. It's there to ensure there is no illegal entry into the country .... correct .

Yes, but Thailand is in a powerful position ( or was as the boats have sailed). They could have earned big brownie points/negotiating position with EU and others by agreeing to host these people in staging areas. Missed opportunity in both strategic and humanitarian terms.

  12. they are right not to let them in,just look at other countries the uk is one and full.the eu is full too so let them go back to there own country is better.

But they don't want to go back to their own country because there they will not get free water, food and other facilities which they can get here as refugees.

Also another reason they don't want go back because their own country Bangladesh (originally) don't want them back.

Thai navy must not allow them to enter otherwise in future they will do same, as now they are doing in Myanmar.

It cannot be said that this is a simple matter of return to Bangladesh. These people have been in Myanmar for 100 years and several generations. They have no ties to Bangladesh. The solution has to involve resettlement and/or a change of attitude in Myanmar ( and most notably from the treacherous vixen who should be handing back her peace prize before it is withdrawn).

  13. It would be better if the cattle were slaughtered in Australia and the carcasses shipped to Vietnam to save the cattle the unnecessary long journey to their cruel death.

Yes, that is the ONLY way. The live export trade has shown to be cruel in and of itself with it's barbaric transport arrangements. Add to that the cruelty involved in the slaughter in Indonesia and now these repulsive revelations.

I'd rather pay more tax and subsidise beef cattle than support live exports.

  14. The government could easily adopt a mandate that private hospitals cannot discriminate in their pricing (whatever their individual pricing is) based on the type of patient -- Thai, farang expat, tourist, etc... But, they haven't done that, and I'm afraid they won't. Because the citizens group pushing the government on this is a Thai citizens group, so their agenda isn't going in that direction.

As for the hospital's prices for medications, it's been my impression here that doctors at private hospitals tend to get a cut of what they prescribe in the way of medications, so it becomes part of their compensation package. My guess is, that's one part of the reason why hospital pharmacy prices are higher, in addition to all the other reasons like facility overhead, etc etc.

Agree but even with a % for the doctor, would not the economies of scale make drugs cheaper to dispense in a hospital than a pharmacy? I get treatment in a hospital with a specialist clinic and it dispenses the same medication all day every day ( but that medication is still cheaper at the local pharmacy which might see only a few people a week asking for it).
