Because my forum name is Soistalker? That's a bit harsh.
I am from Trumpland.

The OP hasn't stated the nationality of his wife, you've rather jumped to that conclusion.
'We', rather than 'I', suggests she is not Thai.
You are correct. My wife and I are farang. Same same but different.

For visa exempt entries by air there is no written limit. At land border crossings it is 2 per calendar year.
So, if I show up well-scrubbed and presentable at the airport every few months, I will not have a problem? And if I go to immigration and extend for a month each time, I won't have a problem?

The 90 days in 6 months rule was rescinded in 2008. It still erroneously shows up on few websites though.
So, what is the rule now?

"Furthermore, foreigners who enter the Kingdom under this Tourist Visa Exemption Scheme may re-enter and stay in Thailand for a cumulative duration of stay of
not exceeding 90 days within any 6-month period from the date of first entry."
Hi guys,
What are the best ways around this? Will I just be turned away at the airport? My wife and I bought a condo this year, but we might be too young for a retirement visa.

Unless the employer wants the background check it will not be needed at immigration.
At nearby embassies they don't require the background check for teaching if the students are in a grade higher than 12.
Are you sure?

A good friend from back home is in Bangkok negotiating with a Thai company for a job. He has two misdemeanor convictions, having pled "no contest " over 20 years ago. He wants to know if this means he cannot legally work in Thailand, cannot get a Thai visa and work permit? And can he get in trouble with the authorities if they find out he has a record? The two offenses involved a firearm.

Hi guys,
I just bought a condo in Pattaya. This trip will be the first one where I am staying in my own condo. Do I need to go to immigration and report my whereabouts? What do I need to do and when do I need to do it? Thank you.

I want to have a number of high quality, Egyptian-cotton or Oxford Cloth mens' business shirts made to be sold back home. Where would I start to find such shops?
Obviously just going through a tailor shop would involve a considerable middleman mark up that I wouldn't be interested in paying. If I go into different sewing shops, I could eventually find a shop that will produce high quality shirts. Also, where can I find high-quality Egyptian-cotton or Oxford Cloth fabric?
Thanks, gents.

Perhaps you should spend a few minutes looking at this
How many ROBberies you know in Singapure or Switzerland, Monaco. HK its not country and Macao too but..There was a Thaivisa member who got hit over the head with his own frying pan by burglars while he was typing away on his computer.
I know him well. But robberies happen in every country around the world. And he lived in a very remote area.
I've had a relative threaten me. Absolutely bizarre. Trying to save face when I asked him about a very small scratch in my car after he used it for a month while we were gone.
I've had more problems with foreigners....
So I cant say robberies happen in every country around the world.
https://knoema.com/atlas/ranks/Robbery?baseRegion=CH
Switzerland ranked 27th at 67 per 100,000 population
Singapore a very good 70th at 4.69
Macao at 53rd at 26.48
HK at 67th at 6.94
Thailand does not appear to be listed, likely due to reporting issues.
So, yes robberies happen all over the world.
TH
Yes, they do. But the difference is that WE ARE BEING TARGETED.

I was attacked at nana plaza by a worker that I had never seen and who attacked me before I even saw him. Police came and took him to the police station. I had to take a taxi there. It was the World Cup. As the police did the interview with us, they periodically stopped to watch replays of goals on the TV. They wouldn't charge the attacker even though it was unprovoked and I was still bleeding. They yelled at me when I insisted that I wanted to press charges. Then they called a French bar owner who speaks Thai and English to convince me to forget about it and go away.
So, when I read stories about Thais stabbing farang and getting B500 fines, I am notably sympathetic.

Thais think it is funny to annoy you. It is called schadenfreude. It seems to be just you complaining, so they will never ever ever change what they are doing. I used to work out at a health club there. The air con was on too low and I would always profusely sweat. I would turn it up when no one was looking. They caught on, and when the manager caught me once he confronted me in an overly angry tone. I told him it was simply too hot. He began yelling the same thing at me over and over again: "because of you?!Because of you?! Up air con because of you?!" Since I was the only one complaining, he just kept turning it down. I kept turning it up until I was offered my membership money back by him screaming my last name at me and asking for a refund. Thainess at its best.
And for some reason, Thais have gotten exponentially ruder and more aggressive since my first trip in 2000. And I have spent three to six months of the year there every year.

It's what I imagine a war with China would be: thousands of dull-looking Chinese following someone with a flag blindly. Wave after wave after wave.

San Francisco is Central California.
Yreka is Northern California.
No. No, no. It is Northern California. Do I tell you that Seoul is Central Korea? No, I do not.

I was driving up from Trat with several friends in the car. Traffic on the freeway slowed to a crawl. We passed a horrible accident. The police had just pulled over a car with young Thai guys in it for...we guessed playing their music too loud around a serious accident where there were dead bodies. That, my friends, is how the Thais are going to deal with traffic safety: after the fact and a poor response.
I think that dying in a crash in Thailand and having stupid grinning police and first responders taking pictures with your corpse is just as bad though.

Has anyone been in a minivan in Thailand and not felt like they were in horrible danger from the way the driver was driving? Anyone? No?

Once you locate a condo you like...assuming you have the funds and proper visa...one or two days should do it...
Proper visa? Do you need anything more than a tourist visa to rent a place? I have rented several places; visa never came up.

Never grab someone getting electrocuted. If you must touch them, hit them like an American football player would hit an opponent.

At this point, you are probably a few Thai whiskey pints away from being beaten up by either the soldier next door, or a friend of his.
You should move.
And hasn't it been said many many times not to get into arguments with Thais?

ED visa run to Phnom Penh
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
Hi guys,
I have signed up for a Thai language course with ED visa. I have two questions:
The school says Laos is where most students go to get their ED visa processed, but I want to go to Phnom Penh as I lived there before and know the place. Anyone heard anything about getting the ED visa processed in Phnom Penh?
The paperwork from the Education Ministry will not be finished before my 30 day Visa Exemption (the one you get on demand at the airport) expires. I know I can get another 30 day extension at immigration for 2000 baht, but are there shorter-term options available?
Cheers.
