You can get buses from either Ekkamai or MorChit bus stations to Pattaya... Much cheaper than Taxis, but pretty inconvenient if you have luggage... You've got to get to your hotel from the bus station in Pattaya too....
When I was doing that route often, I'd get a taxi, quicker and more convenient... It's worth seeing if there are any other farangs around the airport who might share a cab with you - a shared cab should only be 600 each...

True - I got my 5 year extension after my 1 year expired - I was told to come back after it expired too...

I got my 5 year license from Chiang Mai a couple of weeks back, with no problems (with a different address to my original one)...
I didn't need a medical certificate, just the letter from immigration, photos and my passport. Friendly and helpful people, apart from language problems...
Interestingly my license is actually for nearly 6 years as it is 5 years from my next birthday...
I wouldn't recommend eating at the little food shop at the back of the Chiang Mai license place though - the worst meal I've had in Thailand!

How Do You Learn To Teach
in Teaching in Thailand Forum

I don't think a 'teaching english' course is particularly helpful when considering lecturing at university. The best way of learning to teach is learning by doing. If you know the subject material well enough you should be able to think ahead of the students and think on your feet to react to their needs / questions.
Think back to when you were a student (university) and try and model yourself on the best teachers you had then - why did you respond positively to them?
Look on the web, there is sure to be some course materials for some courses similar to yours that you can look at and adapt... No 2 groups of students are the same, tailor your course to your students needs.
Chownah is right though - don't blame the students for not learning, it's your job to FACILITATE their learning.
If the students don't learn, don't give up - try something different next time - learn by doing.
