  1. This is a thread about Inflation in Thailand.

For Westerners earning their income from foreign currencies the exchange rate is vital. Those Brits who retired here 8 years ago were getting 50% more baht to the pound than they are now. This needs to be added to rates of inflation to really see the cost of life difference for them here between the two periods.

Give it up lad, you're embarrassing yourself.

  2. Go to the local 4k p/m apartment complex and look at the farang retirees counting out the 12b for a morning Birdie coffee.

we dont have a local 4k p/m apartment complex

    Sure you don't.

In Sisaket. Try the 2,000b one downtown.

I remember talking to an English teacher up in Udon, he was saying that he makes 30k a month and I asked how much was his housing, as it must be cheap up there and can probably get a liveable house outside the city for 15k a month. Oh, no he says, he was living in small room for 1,000b p/m. ohmy.png

  3. No proper visas for those on tight pensions that can't make the requirements.

Many came here from the UK on state pensions when it was 70b to the pound, cost of living was 1/3rd less than it is now.

    No free health care here.

    Ouch.

  4. Not true actually.

Health costs, visas, family care and board if needed.

Here: Visa worries, health cost worries, no family (except perhaps a local on a salary), a dwindling pension that has lost almost half its worth due to exchange rates, pension cuts and inflation.

    A sad life.

  5. Average between 160-240k p/m.

Wow!!!!.....you really know how to live!

And the lifestyle you have in Thailand on that kinda of money.....would have the same, better, or worse lifestyle in your home country?

    I was born in Thailand.

But is that your home country. I was born in Singapore but my home country is England!

I have several friends born in Thailand but their home country is the US.

Sent from my phone with the app thingy.

First 11 years were spent in Thailand. The next 15 in the Western country of my mother's birth. Family and friends in both and I'm living here.

    Home country? You tell me.

  6. ^ More R150 or whatever the little Yammy 150 based on the R6/R1 is called.

They've certainly taken modern stealth design to the next level. I guess that this and the ninja 300 are going to be the designs that future (smaller) sports bikes are based on. All sharp edges and OTT extremism.

  7. Hi, I'm looking for info about the fees and accreditation of Homeschooling in Thailand.

I presume that one would sign up for an Accredited Homeschooling Institute or Company, that you pay them for the curriculum and materials, and exams. And upon completion the student gains accreditation from a licensed government body from that country, be the UK or US etc.

    Is that correct?

If so, what are the average fees and what accreditation should one be looking for?

Can one homeschool for the iGSCE's and do the exams in say the British Council in BKK?

    Thanks.
