  1. As a newbie i was at a deserted park in chiang mai and wandering around, by the drag to the airport. Found some old abandoned buildings and huges piles of ashes.

After trudging around for some time I figured out that they were not burning trash there. Chiang mai does also have a good size burial cemetary that is located on the street just above the night market on chang klan. you can see the polts from the street through the fence. very old. a large crematorium is just up from there.

Just a note to south to collect your ashes afterwards if it moves you. Also, many of these places are left open with no supervision, stray dogs, what have you.

i go figure that if i pass timely the one to discover me would be my maid, and that's ok with me.

  2. As far as the weather factors goes...

going shirtless has little or no benefit in terms of keeping cool over what a light silk or cotton shirt would provide, unless you happen to have a drenched shirt and need to cool off from a sudden breeze for example (unlikely).

Looking and dressing like a flea infested backpacker is along these same lines...

No reason to do it really over putting on something average, unless you are sending a message to others.

Just like everything else that pushes the boundry, it's really about the people themselves either...

wanting to attract attention (negative or positive), needing people to look at them (for example showing off their physique) or needing to say something to others who are not interested in seeing or hearing about it in most cases.

I used to know a guy who enjoyed 'having a few beers with his shirt off'. Seems like a very manly thing to do with other men. In fact, eventually I discovered there were other reasons for 'letting it go' so to speak. Just giving you a heads up that things are not always as they seem. jerk.gif.pagespeed.ce.TMGfqs4Lzz.gif

  3. For anyone that's interested, he went back to the UK, and through this forum, he had a temporary address, he is now under the care of the social security, his credit card fraud was wiped off after 7 years and the unsecured bank loans are wiped off too, he is now in a hostel type accommodation and is trying to find ways to get back to Thailand, I hope he don't end up in Jail.

Thanks for all those guys that tried to help, and the one guy that did.

    Topic Closed.

I am appalled at the audacity of this guy, so whats to stop him racking up more debt and disappearing back to Thailand again. Nothing really as I see. Theres nothing more to be said on this matter.

The topic is not "closed", rather it is an ongoing problem that is both entertaining and informative to discuss.

Why ask a question, receive 100's of responses then abruptly request no further posts?

  4. Your certianly no Einstein.

Some people can't afford to move to where everything is perfect, banana brain. If they could they would be there already.

Many people come here in large part because things are cheaper and they need to be able to afford a decent lifestyle on a reduced budget. Or, they come to get drunk, bang hookers or other things due to personal problems or not being able to do this in their home country for some reason. Their complaints are often genuine ones and based on their own reality and circumstances. Therefore, they do have a right to voice them, although they will not be valid for everyone, what is?

If you can't handle these complaints it does not mean people can't voice them, it means perhaps YOU should move. Eventually you may find a perfect place where everyone is perfectly happy and never complains, good luck with that.

  5. <Now Karl Kraus will have to answer to his maker .>

So he was actually guilty then, and it wasn't a fit up to extort money from him then? I guess you were there, to answer that question.

Anyone know if the pictures he allegedly had on his computer were of the girls he is accused over? It would be a simple matter for the police ( if they were in on a scam ) to add them to the computer.

Let's be realistic, how many 90 year olds do you know that still have an interest in sex? For myself, ZERO.

I find it fantastical that it could go on for 2 years without the parent's involvement.

In the very slim ( IMO ) chance that it did happen, I'd reckon that the parents were getting paid off by him, and when he no longer wanted to pay, they shopped him to the cops. Of course, nothing will ever happen to them, whether for pimping their daughters or being terrible parents.

Actually, corrupt police would likely do the opposite and not let the problem come into the public spotlight.

Were talking sexual abuse here, not necessarily intercourse, which does not subside with age. Not at all unrealistic that many dudes here may have these sorts of inclinations.

  6. Try getting one of those telescopic police battons, they are light enough to carry when you run.

This. I know you said its not your style, but I used to do 15-20 kms a day and this worked a treat. As soon as I flicked it out and extended it the dogs knew what it meant. Dont buy the cheapest one because they can be difficult to retract.

Sometimes you can get a dog who is "psych-kick"

  7. As usual, the problem is you smile.png

I used to have this problem, once I got genuinely ANGRY at a couple dogs (issue was them killing my kittens, not really relevant here). I'm not talking about just those specific dogs, but rather dogs in general that come my way. They know when something clicks and you are willing to do more then laugh, drink a beer chang and figure the rabies is what your karma has coming to you. They know when you are a coward, basically, and won't do anything for whatever reason. They don't care or know why you are that way.

ANY dog of the average strays your talking about, not police or military dogs obviously or ones that have been trained to attack.

Indeed, the problem in Thailand with dogs if you want to call it a problem is lack of pack leader vibes that get PISSED OFF and ANGRY of being harrassed by these animals.

Basically, limp dudes that don't get angry at anything.

Yep, the Thais they don't show much disapproval and the dogs love it. Combine this with Buddhism and you just have a bunch or spoiled dogs who know they can basically do anything they want. And they are correct, they can in the majority cases.

  8. Typically financial judgements will require either kids or a long term relationship. The rationale is that kids need continued financial support from both parents. The relationship wants to demonstrate that the wife gave up certain things to maintain the marraige, that they were both equal parties in the marraige sharing bills for housing, food etc.

If the marraige was short (less then a couple years) or they did not have joint bank accounts or tax returns it's unlikely a judge would award a large sum in a lawsuit.

  9. I'll address this from a USA standpoint, since I'm not familiar with the UK.

The US does not have debters prisons. What that means is that past debt does not matter if you don't have assets to seize. Non-issue, don't worry about it.

So your paying cash for everything, and also have everyone looking at your credit report and refusing jobs, housing and everything else for the most part for years to come.

In other words, homeless, living foot to mouth.

Most social services have a lengthy process and/or others who are in line waiting.

What I'm saying here is that once he gets off the plane, it's hit the city, walking or hitch hiking, or simply getting a taxi and not paying the fare. Once on the tarmac you look for shelter that's relatively safe, with other homeless is the best bet. Some may take you in, if not you sleep by an encampment, or if not under a bridge etc. If you can hit some homeless shelters you may get lucky and find a bed and a meal (for one night) before you are kicked out the next morning. Wash and repeat. There may be some social workers there who can help hook you up with things if your sober.

After that, you can panhandle for food money, and look for odd under the table jobs, find out where the soup kitchens are. Everyone else already hit these but you can try to keep your spirits up. If you start turning to booze or drugs (very likely) it's down hill from there. You likely turn to crime and petty theft, or you give up, keep sleeping under the bridge and basically commit suicide.

The best thing to do straight off is to find other homeless people and band together. They will know where the food is, where to sleep to keep safe, ins and outs etc. Make friends fast you will need them. Some start doing petty thefts and go in and out of the jails to get food and medical care regularly. Not a bad option. If you do something more serious you goto prison. It's so bad there it's not worth risking. Better to face the homelessness.

He should have tried some teaching English jobs before getting that low and just drop living expenses to rock bottom like the Thais who live in the corrugated housing. Not pretty, but it is livable. You have to have some self-esteem and confidence to work it though. Sounds like this guy has been beat for a long time and just gave up.

If you getting down below $10k and dipping in, I would say it's time to bail back to your home country and see what you can do. Buy an RV or something to sleep in and work the welfare/food stamp angle. Even an alcoholic should see the writing on the wall, unless they are willing to just go belly up.

  10. Have you been going to man's man barbers? Go to any salon where they cut women's hair.

Tried this many years back and it does work for me. Men are not attentive enough to work on what really looks good. Well, some are, but you can find them in the ladies salons as well.

  11. I would have to agree with the experienced ones. If you have no money are 44 and make better money in the west then stay there. Thailand is good for a good time but when I lived there on 30k per month I was constantly dipping into my savings, you just cant do it unless you want to live the life of a poor Thai drinking Sangsom once per month and eating som tam. I have wanted to live the dream and go back, two minds my co*k and my financial side and its the $$$'s that wins, I just cant do it, too damn risky, if I go and it doesnt work out, I cant return to my good job I would be totally stuffed. Wanna go to Thailand for long term, think $$$$$$$$$ because you are gonna need em.

i lived in a luxury home for years in chaing mai city center and my total monthly expenses (everything) where below 30k. so it can be done. and i did not even need to budget.

the problem is you like to party and go whoring. but don't tell this guy he can't do it if he has a handle on himseslf. coming over here to live is a great option if you need to save cash and have some self-discipline.

  12. Your going to meet a lot of women in Asia and many will all try to get you (and your assets) to go where they are, rather then relocate to where you are.

It's basically drawing support and money towards their family group, rather then away from it, and it is a kind of survival instinct.

When you start traveling around and being controlled by this it's not a good path in some cases. You have to look at what works for you in the long run. There are some guys that slowly burn all their bridges, like homes, jobs, savings or just being comfrotable going back to their home countries and can't rely on these in their older years when they are so needed.

Things tend to work out better if your doing what you have to do and taking care of business, and meet someone in that place and mindset, rather then sacrificing what you have built to go out searching for it.

  13. Try to regularly have some dedicated quality time together, some common activities; plus trying to keep busy yourself might make it less difficult.

I think this very well could be the problem. I have not been busy the last month and a half. I am conditioned to keep busy and well too much idle time starts playing on my mind....Well I post threads regarding how kooky and depressed I feel. I need to get going on something to stay occupied, some thing where I feel progression is being made--not try to invent the wheel. It can be simple but positive, hopefully bring in a little money would be best.

Time for the if your bored it's your fault crowd to chime in.

  14. It's an issue that affects many first world couples.

What you need to do is sit down and have a nice chat to her....ask her if she is happy with the arrangement, and why does she continue like this. Maybe she is working towards a promotion and you both have to make the sacrifice now for a better future. Maybe she hates her job and would quit but fears your reaction. Maybe....maybe... just talk to her....but try and make it about her first, not you.

In other words, will you support me financially.

  15. If the footwear was portrayed on top of someones head, that would be extremely offensive.

    totster smile.png

Or if the poster was placed above where people were seated, like in a restaurant or subway.

My neighbor had a party and hung a picture of the King playing a musical instrument up for the occasion. It was viewed with skepticism by some Thais as possibly looking like the King was performing for the guests, even though this was not the intention. People interpret things in strange ways.

  16. People get all strict and worried about foreigners working in Thailand.

Fact is, immigration and police likely don't care much (same as they don't make a fuss about anything else) unless someone makes a problem.
