  1. As usual, exceptional TE service this morning.

I arrived 7:40 this morning to check in for my flight. There was another TE guest also checking in. We got to the premium area and there were very long lines.

After about 2-3 minutes wait immigration brought an agent over to open a closed station for both of us TE members to process our passports.

I have flown internationally five times in the last 25 days. This type of service is valuable to someone like me.

My wife is Thai and I am over 50. I don't need TE for a visa to stay in Thailand. The fact is that I never have to worry about anything, the services, the assistance from immigration, the TE team and the fellow members are what make this organization special to me!!!

  2. I know three people who have been members since day one and they are all thrilled they did it!

I am a relatively new member and love being in the program. I fly internationally an average of three times a month so I am in and out a lot.

Even though my wife is Thai and I am over 50 years old this card and service are very valuable to me.

I am very proud to be a member of this excellent organization and friends with the other members.

Happy Holidays to all the team at TE and fellow members!

  3. Yes you can tip FAs. You can also buy something from duty free on board and give to them.

I fly about twice a month and prior to boarding I always go to shop at the departure lounge and but a box of Godiva chocolates for the FAs and give it them when I get to my seat.

A small gesture of thanks that's is really appreciated! Call me crazy if you like but I think they do an excellent job and are taken for granted!

  4. Go to London, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore and any major city's financial districts and look at every businessman wearing a suit and tie and the vast majority of them are carrying bags of some type daily.

If you wear expensive suits that fit properly you do not stuff things in the pockets. The suit will not fit or look proper and you will rip the linings and pockets so you carry a bag!

In today's business world there are a lot of things that some of us need to carry and this is both a functional and fashionable solution.

I have a classic briefcase, a computer bag, a passport men's bag and an everyday bag (fits mini umbrella, wallet, keys and 2 phones) if I don't need the big ones designed for today's city corporate lifestyle. (All of mine are classic black leather Prada which suits the business world perfectly).

Go have a beer or coffee about 6pm near Raffles Place in Singapore or near the HSBC and Bank of China buildings in Central Hong Kong and see for yourself.

  5. If your home google retirement calculators. Type in your particulars and it shows you what you need depending on your age, projected spend and many other factors.

I did not say anything negative (I never have and never will), just showing young people who might not know this stuff to look at it since it might help someone from making a life changing decision that could hurt years down the road.

    Have a good weekend!

  6. Just off the top of my head a quick guesstimate!
Let's say he is ok at USD 3,400 a month. That's more or less a 3% a year draw down on 1.4 million USD.
Let's say he's getting a 4% yield in that 1.4, seems ok until you add in the 3% inflation rate. He will be completely broke in about 25 years.

So all these 'young people with money,' how much do they have and how long will they live?
(Everyone who thinks they can retire better look at the numbers first)!

Plus as was mentioned $3,400 a month isn't that much now!

  7. I am a member.
Once they have your passport copy, photo and the completed documents the government runs the police clearance checks on you. This takes about 4-5 days. Once you get cleared TE will then they contact you and tell you it is now ok to send the funds.
The service the give you to help you through the process and the way the operate is simply outstanding!

  8. PRC travelers are the worlds largest spenders. They spend USD 1,800 per person per day when they travel. With only 19% of the worlds population they purchase almost 40% all the worlds luxury goods. These are actual facts and you can google it you like.
Every tourist destination should be focused on the PRC high spend travelers. To do this you target independent travelers (the people with the money) and move away from the prepackaged tour groups. Dropping visas is how you do it! This decision will be good for business and the tour and travel industry.
    Very good decision.
