Actually very few Singaporeans, Philippinos and Hong Kong people smoke. The vast majority of the smokers you see in HK are China.

Barn Kanitha. Two locations, Sathorn Rd near the Sukhothai Hotel and a second near Sukhumvit 21. For years it has been considered amongst the very few best of the best classic Thai restaurants in Bangkok!
You and your wife will enjoy it very much!

Gerry 1011, you are spot on! This is a program targeted at high net worth people who clearly have a different lifestyle then the average guy. Nothing wrong with that at all because everybody has their own responsibilities and so on. For me,
even though I am over 50 and married for many years I am also ready to join because the service and convenience of it all is value to me.

You should always carry with you the doctors prescription and the doctors certification of what your condition is. This way if you get asked you have proper information! That's what I do.

What is a good bike for new rider, 58 years old, just to ride around moobahn for some exercise? My budget is up to Baht 50,000. I see and hear Giant has a lot available here in Bangkok. Cheers!

There are so many very nice places to go for short journeys and as one comment said, hotels are not expensive. If you have interest in the culture, history, etc you can always find interesting things to do and enjoy that don't cost a lot of money. If you can speak some language and open your self up you will find how nice the people are as well!! Part of the charm of this lovely country!

Let's go back 20 years.
Every heavy rain Sukhumvit Rd, flooded and the sewers backed up. You had to take of your shoes and socks and roll up your trousers and walk through the disgusting flood waters to go some where. Hotels put planks outside for you to walk on.
No overhead expressway or BTS. I had to go from Ekkamai to Sukhumvit 24. That could take 2 hours!!! People would get out of the taxi in the middle of the road to smoke a ciggy! People would get out of the taxi and go buy takeaway for the street side vendors and then come back to the taxi because it still hadn't moved yet!!this was the norm!! Who remembers those days?
The single stroke oil fired motor bikes (I think that's what they called them) spewing pollution would make you sick breathing the air as well. The air quality was so bad then I remember a medical study that said Bangkok residents where susceptible to chromosome damage!
Aids was rampant until the famous doctor ( don't remember the name) taught the public to use condoms.
Is Thailand better now. The nations infrastructure investments have made
life so much better for everyone all over the country! Just one small example of why It is much better now! Good job Thailand.

Most of the posters here are living in tourism areas and hang out with other foreigners. I live in a suburban residential area, almost never see or speak to any foreigners, only Thais and in Thai and the people are lovely to me now just as they were 22 years ago when I first came here.
My perspective is things are better and getting more so year by year as more Thais are moving into the middle class, getting better educations, health care etc. I'm so happy to see people doing so well and enjoying their lives. Go to Thai only places and watch the families and the children, it's a positive energy!

Don't listen to all cynical comments. You will have a fine life and probably never see him again. I have only seen my brother in law once in 17 years, at my wedding. That's it. Your wife will stand by you and he doesn't matter at all. Forget about him. Congrats on your wedding!

There are many eyesore, dangerous and abandoned buildings (many from the currency crisis). It would be great for the BMA to demand the owners remove them ASAP. If not then the BMA can condemn and confiscate them all.
