  1. Never been ,married or have any kids, but i would presume to "secure" the marriage.

Or may be they just do not use the condomsxlaugh.png.pagespeed.ic.W9oTakjBs5.webp alt=laugh.png width=20 height=20>

^this is the dumbest post so far...... lucky you have not had kids.

But then....no succession planning for the 3 room hovel either.

Is this the dumbest post of the year?

Why is it the dumbest post?

OP is spot on, in many cases, she already has a few kids being raised by her mother, so why have more?

  2. Cannot see anything wrong up till about 9pm but after that they should be home. And I would be more worried about the examples of the drunk foreigners than I would about the presence of working girls.

    Yes, me too.

I do visit Pattaya with the kids, but we don't visit any nightlife areas.

It's funny because when we get back home the kids tell everyone about the great time they had at the beaches, dolphin shows and other stuff in Pattaya. This puzzles less clued in Farang people (i.e. most of them) who think Pattaya is only one big whorehouse. wink.png

Ok. It's a whorehouse with a dolphin show.

I thought ping pong balls, darts and goldfish were enough...

  3. No problem up till around that 9pm mark, or it was ok before....but I only did it a few times and each time was to go to the seafood restaurants there, so kinda have to walk along it a bit depending at which end you park.

But defo not later and now my kids are older, I would not take them there.

The place is a circus and kids love the circus....but it is a sleazy circus no matter how much you look at it....and sleaze and children just don't mix.

  4. How much do you want to spend because performance on the cheap your better off to buy kits and build them yourself and put your own electrics in i have ebay sellers i go to for my rc stuff all free delivery and because your in thailand it would only take 3-5 days to get there my savage storm hybrid 160kmh plus beast can adjust height for on/off road got new bulkhead to put on just been messing around with motorbikes lately. Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

How much are those kits and is there any import duties for them here ?

Not interested in high performance machines as these are for kids, but certainly the ones I have seen here would do the trick, water kinda proof, can tackle rough terrain, fast enough for kids fun and they were circa 5-8k baht

Can you send me a link to this ebay stuff if suitable for kids?

Nice shop (or at least there was) on the ground floor of Seacon Square, Srinakarin.

Went looking there and could not find, found the Kasikorn bank, but no RC shop.

Might try RCA as mentioned above if they have a good selection.

Are you looking for two rc offroaders.

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Does the shop in RCA have a lot of choice? Easy to find?

Which shop mentioned above would you consider to be the best for choice and price etc and kinda easy to find/get to from Sukhumvit?

  6. Homeschool? Only if you have the skills and time to do that. Most people that homeschool have no business teaching their kids anything.

To the original POSTER: If I were you I'd bite the bullet and start forking out the 200,000 + a year (more like 300,000 these days) for a decent international school education. That's the stark reality if you want to live here and want your kid to grow up smart.

Most teachers and institutions have no business teaching kids anything either!

200,000bht PA won't buy you squat Jack,.. and even if you paid triple that you still wouldn't be assured of anything like an objective and non institutionalized "education" for your kids.

Parents are naturally gifted and the best candidates to raise, lead and educate their kids. Yes there are good and bad parents but we don't by default neuter such "bad" parents or take their kids away from them.

The problem is that people have become so accustomed and indoctrinated with the belief for the past 160 years that schooling is essential. Prior to that (the industrial revolution period) parents educated their children privately and within their own family networks until the industrialists turned parents en masse into automated work forces and set up "schools" to accommodate and prepare their children to become the next generation of mindless job slaves!

Its no wonder that parents have such major issues with their kids in teenage years as they have become strangers to them by spending less than a few hours each week in anything like real commicative relationship. Kids resent being palmed off at age 6 to 16 (or 18) and you can't blame them for feeling that way.

If the truth be told,.. people send their kids to school because they have no choice as they have to work 5 or 6 days a week. The teaching skills that you speak of which people lack are NOT really teaching skills at all. All parents need to do is to learn how to supervise their kids learning as kids are natural information and learning magnets. It's not hard,.... just a matter of focus, personal choice in taking the responsibility and then working a simple plan and system.

The real problem is that the majority of parents have more loyalty to their jobs, employers and government than they do to their own kids!

I am a teacher and I could not agree more. Anyone who does not agree should watch or read Ken Robinson on education.

I would like to also agree.

But how would you homeschool your kids if you hated school yourself and kinda failed....not really fail, just did not go to pass.

And if your child is in secondary school and the work is getting harder and more involved...how can you homeschool if you do not have the knowledge yourself to answer all the questions from the kids?

  8. I agree...we all need to speak such a universal language.

I know if I learnt to read, write and speak fluently it would open doors around the globe for me.

If you live here then you are totally avoiding the point. Your answer is a non sequitur. In the context of the question your answer is as significant as if you had said "Haircut and a shave, two bits."

A truthful answer from you would run something like "I am lazy and do not give a rats arse about Thailand, its language or its people. I expect to live in total comfort and because my currency has a favourable exchange rate, they can all patronize me and in general kiss my backside. No effort of mutual respect should be expected on my part."

    You're good...

  9. Very sad and sure to be fatalities on the ground. Unfortunately, with helicopters, once the rotors stop they drop from the sky like a sack of spuds.

Amazing how it didn't burst into flames, which has undoubtedly kept fatalities to a minimum.

Please share your knowledge a little more please....have you ever dropped a sack of spuds from an aerial platform?

  10. Two words "Home School"

    nuf said....

Most home schoolers seem to be religious nutjobs

an exception, very exceptional Freeman Dyson

i have seen public, EP, and international schools here. You cant do any worse than any of them. In the first two they are taught not to think, in the third they are taught they dont need to think as they are priviladged.

If i couldnt put in the time to teach my own kid, i would move somewhere they could get a decent education. after all, isnt proper parenting about putting your kids first?

I am picturing Will Farrell at the kids desk...

  11. The bts station in udon suk sukhamvit

What is there if you do not mind my asking/

I am looking for cars like these...

    Remote-Control-Cars.jpg

But with a range of choice if possible....anyone know where to go for these?

I have been to the centre mentioned above in seacon square, found the few stalls in the market/souvenir type section on upper floor, but very few cars there, no choice basically and the one in the basement near the bank seems to be gone as nothing near that kasikorn bank now.

  12. So you're saying that if you have no money,.. or just a moderate amount that you can't be happy!

I've had both and I can tell you that the "more money" brought more misery than happiness for me. Yes it gave more choices but that doesn't necessarily equate to more happiness.

"Happiness is when you choose what you've got",... and old Zen saying, which as I get older and seeing much relevance and wisdom in.

Yes I would like and intend to have more money than I currently have which will expand choices and some added privileges BUT it won't make me any happier than I am already!

Said the expat ending up in some Godawful government hospital rather than a nice comfy private one. Being able to get the hell out of Dodge when the Rainy Season's full on, etc etc.

How do you know he hasn't got a good private health care insurance? You are just assuming this, people like you are so annoying. Ok, so you have 'big' money, but just keep that to yourself, don't you know how crass you sound. When you get out of Dodge, please do me a favour, don't come back, cheers.

You can feel the jealousy surging through this post.

I have been in Thailand for 7 years and never worn a jacket...always shirt sleeves.

    That must look odd..

  13. every school is different, and there are even differences by class/ teacher, and what is best for one kid, may not be the best for another, and may even not be the best for that kid forever

our 3 year old daughter is at a private thai school in bangkok with a reputation for being very strict - for her, right now it makes sense, for other kids it might not work and she will almost certainly change schools later

i recommend to research the available schools and choose the one that best fits your kid (and their current learning needs)

Very strict...with a grand reputation gained for such.....and 3yo, you must be proud.

I have some handcuffs, whips and chains for sale cheap if you would like them...

  14. HO I agree with you and if I could insert "buy affordable great quality wine and cheese" then my life here would be complete

    Starting over is all relative.

Where do you start over again after Los ?

Wine and cheese is affordable if you know where to look for it.

'Bin' wines for circa 300/800b per bottle and cheeses...Gouda 1kg 400b, Vintage Cheddars 1kg 750/800b.
