  1. Probably a dumb question, but here goes...............

I've got a mid-price (£600/$1,000) set-up (Aego amp + 5-speaker + bass woofer) here in the UK that I'm considering bringing into LOS. No TV, obviously - but, can anyone tell me if it would be compatible with a TV that I'd buy in LOS?

Yes Steve your setup will work here, but you will need power plug adapters, also if your video out (assuming video passes through your amp too) is scart you will need a scart to component/s-video/composite adapter, whichever your chosen TV will take.

  3. Hi slippery,

You should close all other programs when you capture the pictures, if you have already done this then the video card or even just the RAM needs a bit more. On the manual of the Handicam for the capture software they should have minimum specs of your computer, that should clue you up if anything needs an upgrade!

    Hope this helps...

  4. Hi Cusper,

My guess would be, assuming they are cheapo copies, is that your suppliers disc quality is getting worse, I have been experiencing similar 'freezing' more than normal in the last 3 months from my usual supplier of cheapo DVDs. I find the worst ones come from China (Plus they tend to be DVD5). All I can do is return them in hope of a decent replacement copy. On the other hand if you get 'freezing' on originals then it's time for the service guys to have a look!

  5. Anyone know of a source for recordings from thai TV? I am after a progarame from channel 7 yesterday that nobody remembered to tape. -peter

    Hi Peter,

I have been told that you just bring a tape to the Channel 7 building with the prog name, time and date and they should copy it for you, but not sure how long before you can pick it up! Also not sure if there's a little charge on it either!

    Hope that helps..

  6. Hi Harmonica,

Do you have any more info on your Satellite installer, website, contact details?

Sounds like the sort of installation I need at my place too, also through the home theatre!

    Thanks..

    :o

I did this and it worked:

Take off the UBC box power cord for one minute.

Let the consumer box re-count the channels again.

    Voila!

Been doing that on average once every 2-3 weeks for the last 3 years and it generally works!

Better longer-term solution though is to cancel out the UBC subscription and go the Satellite System route.

20-24K Baht for a top-notch system with an impressive channel array -- Cinemax, HBO, StarMovies, StarWorld, Fox, 21st Century, Turner Classic Network, Hallmark, Bloomberg, BBC, CNN and many others -- a total of 130 channels, including 3 heavy boom-boom channels ( :D ).

Sound & pic quality .... outstanding -- connected the line out to a home theatre system and yeah, with a subwoofer flat to 20 Hz., finally got what I wanted. :D

Cost recovery = 1 year approx. compared to UBC and there are NO monthly fees.

    :D

  7. I've got a old lap top with a modem - which is what I am using right now. My g/f has a new desktop. Both are running XP.

I cannot get a second phone line in my area - no numbers left :o .

So I was wondering if I can connect them together so that she can also access the Internet, but  via my laptop's modem.

Any pointers to where to start reading gratefully received!

    Hi RDN,

The easiest way would be to directly connect the 2 comps through ethernet network cards, which the laptop should have as standard and almost all desktops have nowadays. Just get your self a ethernet cable with RJ45 connectors connect them up. Then on your desktop internet connection click on the properties and click the advanced tab and under Internet Connection Sharing check the boxes needed! I hope this resolves your problem..

    Cheers..
