  1. Like Tony M I would also be interested to know where this information comes from.
  2. Thailand has stayed on the red list So hotel quarantine would still be required.
  3. Thailand has stayed on the red list so you have plenty of time to think about the problem until it comes off the red list.
  4. Thailand is now on the red list as far as the UK is concerned so you don’t really have a problem at the moment as your girlfriend will be unable to enter the UK until Thailand comes off the red list. There are apparently going to be some announcements today and it may be that Thailand does come off that list but at the moment she would not be able to come in. As and when Thailand comes off the red list then I think you will have to take charge of any future application yourself and make sure that all the points that have been discussed on this thread are addressed fully. Normally it is the reasons to return to Thailand which are the number one issue but in this case there is also the issue of not being honest in the application and that may take some getting around. Contrary to what one or two other posts have suggested the ECO will look at the facts of the application and judge it on that basis. There is no agenda in the UK to restrict entry from anyone be it for a visit or for settlement who fulfils all the criteria required.
  5. The main benefit really is over the long-term. Having been through the whole process right through to citizenship and getting my wife her passport it is exceedingly time-consuming, lengthy and expensive. The sooner you start then the sooner you can finish and from experience by the end of it all everyone is exhausted.
  6. I am with The Old Git on this one. You need at least ILR to get into the UK at the moment as a non-UK national. However you appear to be correct that students can enter the UK with a student Visa subject to fulfilling the appropriate quarantine. I am not quite sure why that should be the case but it is I think.
  7. There is no actual limit to the number of times that the test can be taken as it is only required for citizenship or ILR. If someone has FLR and really cannot pass the test then they can,I believe, simply apply for another FLR Visa.An expensive way to go obviously but at least could still stay in the UK.
  8. I went through all the practice sessions with my Thai wife when she was studying for the life in the UK test and it is basically just a pub quiz. There is nothing in terms of learning about the evolution of democracy and western ideas. It is simply a memory test and my wife had to learn the answers to 384 questions to take the test. The test is 24 questions and the applicant has to get 18 correct. So there is a huge amount of work for I suspect very little return.
  9. If you mean you would want to come direct to the UK from Thailand then you would not be allowed in. Only UK nationals can enter the UK from a red list country.
  10. Yes, of course, you can do it that way. I was talking about coming to the UK direct with 2 doses from Thailand.
  11. Yes it is true. Vaccines administered in Thailand are not approved in the UK so a returning UK resident would have to hotel quarantine and of course a Thai national would not be admitted.
  12. Yes no vaccination administered in Thailand is acceptable to the UK government.
  13. Yes it is a pure memory test which proves absolutely nothing really.
  14. Yes I can confirm that that is the procedure now. My wife took the test last year and failed but took it again one week later and passed. Like your wife she had no idea how well she had done the first time. Whatever the reason for failing however it is just a question of practice practice and more practice. Having a good memory helps as well.
  15. Ok as long as they apply before the visa runs out but I would never leave any visa application until the last minute. Much too stressful.
  16. As a non UK citizen your wife can’t enter the UK from Thailand on a visit visa from Monday. Entry is restricted to UK and Irish nationals and UK residents.
  17. Thailand has just gone on to the UK red list with effect from 4am Sunday so any visit will have to wait.
  18. Yes it is. Having said that I think the main problem you will have with the visitor Visa is convincing UKVI that she will return to Thailand at the end of her trip. Your situation might make it appear to them that the visitor Visa is being used to enable her to stay in the UK. So you will have to make the application very clear and very strong in terms of the reasons for her to return to Thailand at the end of the trip.
  19. Just to summarise what has been said a Thai driving licence is valid for only 1 year in the UK and some insurance companies require an International Driving Permit as well. My wife had to have this when we came back to the UK.
