  1. Thank heavens for Thai female friends!! :D

Seems like you are the one with the problem,so take your balls in your hand and be a man dam_n it.

task: find a way to reach the following goal: someone has to clean the house

select the picture that in your opinion looks like a good strategy to reach that goal:

  2. Yet again when confronted with a problem, it is being left to the female gender to assert their authority and get some action.

Far too often I have seen the men here will knuckle their forehead and give it 'Yes, Sir. Three bags full, Sir.' when dealing with staff in offices or shops and other places. But get a woman to go in there and sort the problem and she generally does. It seems the women have the balls round here and the gumption too. The same on the telephone. A man will often come back having agreed to whatever he was told by the person on the other end.

I needed a letter to show my address here - in the end a secretary of the Amphur sorted it.

I needed someone to sort out a problem with the Tourist Police. A woman did that too.

A problem with the house. You guessed, a woman on the phone to sort it and get some action.

Latest problem is with an engineer fobbing off a male friend who called, with lame excuses and has done so for 3 weeks now. I phoned a female and it is being sorted now.

All these and many other problems I've seen over the years that needed someone who can speak Thai and I have tried getting male friends to sort them, but each time they come back with some sad excuse such as, 'Another week.' Not today.' 'No can get.' etc.

Not only for myself either. Living with family in the past, it was always the women who seemed to get the job done, be it a funeral, a house problem or whatever.

Thank heavens for Thai female friends!! :o

Yes, the emasculated male of the west certainly needs either a set of nuts or a dominating woman to hold his pants up.

Thankfully I escaped / rejected the whole feminazi bs that was rife in the 1980s - 2000s

  3. Why not just get a few of the camera-equipped, hand-held takeoff drone planes from the US military? Very difficult to shoot down, much less expensive than the dirigible, and controlled from a video-game-like station at the base.

Not so easy, the Yanks like to hold on to the new toys until they become 2nd rate and have developed something superior.

It also takes years to train up a crew to run and maintain them, launching and recovery is a nightmare for those without 'the knowledge' :o

  4. Yeah but the thing is, having ridden through Thailand I've not once been asked for my green book (which I carry on me). Just a number plate check and once a tax check.

But get the book in your name. It might cost you a couple of thousand to bribe officials and lube the wheels of beaurocracy but you'll be impervious to the fine bs. :o

    Having trouble with kickstarting?

Give these dudes a shout :o

  7. Had a blast at this event last week in March 09.

Three farang teams entered, on our team was biker 69! A 400cc beast of a dirtbike. The kickstart was iffy (sticking valve) but it still rocked the enduro and track!

When things got too hot the fire brigade came along and cooled us all down! :o

No mangled bones or deaths, just rough and tumble with bruised pride.

This is on Youtube and Live Video.

The Audio may/may not work as there is a copyright dispute raging on the site and my videos are under the spotlight. I'm meeting fire with fire but the outcome is uncertain.

If audio doesn't work then go to my 'alternative' video account I've set up :D

    http://www.livevideo.com/OnTheRoadThailand

Once they've encoded it it should appear on there.

    Enjoy!

  9. My gf is telling me start putting the 95 gasohol into our motorbikes now as it is cheaper. But the big question is it good for the motorbike's engine or not?

Yes, especially if it uses injectors.

If carbuaretter then don't use any more than E10 gasohol.

  10. In the mid 1990's before the politically correct fascists :D came onto the scene, the best guide to the Philippines was Lonely Planet, written by Jens Peters. He included a helpful chapter concerning Angeles which was about 12-14 pages long. Then he was sacked.

I actually hate these people. :o

    Me too!

  11. What I would have done differently ?

Its none of my business , I think its a bit foolish as well you did that ,

to confront Thai people with something such a small thing .

Before you know he feels he lost his face and plans revenge on you !

Shouldn't be worth the fuss what you did ! Guess the woman could have taken care of herself ,

I he went even further , and just like all Thais should have shut up , unless you are a witness

of a crime the woman herself need a witness for .

So would have done everything differently , thinking why this woman didn't felt anything ....

typical cowardice, this head in the sand attitude.

i hope your wife or daughter never need help with somone like you in the vicinity.

well said TS, this attitude is exactly why the world is in such a sorry state IMHO.

  12. In Chiang Mai on Huay Gaew road there is a big Yamaha dealership with attached workshop.

    Professional and helpful.

In Bangkok on Ratchada there is one just before esplanade shopping complex. Take the left-turn before esplanade and follow it around the corner of the building.

Ahead of you is Yamahas bike bike dealer.

I rolled up there with a Honda CBR and they helped secure my fairing for free with there own parts! Good dudes!

  13. No way man, I had the fork seal blow on my CBR 400 and engine finications.

Pulled into Petchaburi, back street boys workshop and they had a spare fork seal there and then for it.

Oil specifics, filters are available whenever I've needed them.

CBR parts not available in the provinces?? Can be sourced from Bangkok. transport bike to capital or get parts sent in, either or really.

If you smash a CBR to pieces and need a refix, no probs, just wait 2 - 3 weeks for the parts to arrive from a boat from Japan.

Engine replacement if it seizes or blows (unlikely as Honda engines are tough beasts, make sure you oil change every 3000 km with Mobil Grade 5W 50, available for 1900 baht plus filter for 200 baht) source parts from japan.

The only barrier is the money you have to get it fixed.

I spend the cash on oil changes every 3000 km, my CBR <touch wood> is still going strong and I've toured all over Thailand.

The biggest navigator on bike problems is to have a sht hot mechanic who specialises in the bike of your choice. I've been lucky so far my mechy of choice is a CBR specialist and is an oracle on such things.

If I have a problem and the garage I'm in is a bit oooh errr. I call the oracle and he straightens them out on the idiosyncracies of CBRmanship :o

  14. 180kph a go-go is more than plenty! :o

Got my cbr400 fror 75k w/ book and plate.

Plenty of spares a go-go as well.

For me it's that bike along with a CB400, parts are often interchangeable between the two.

Suzuki Slingshot sounds cool, haven't seen many buzzing about though.

  15. Been buzz biking around Khampaeng Pet then Bangkok and down past Pattaya!

Keepin' the nightcrawlers and cagers in their place :o

  16. the issue isnt breaking the law for me....it's more that it can take up to 6 or 8 months to get your plates in place. on 1 hand you get busted for not having plates while on the other you can't get your dam_n plates? sure there are cases of green books and plates being issued quickly but I also know people who have waited over 12 months.

it's like being busted for littering on sukhumvit yet there isn't a public trash can to be found

oh well, this is how it works here i suppose

    Anthony is right.

To get mine done in three weeks flat took a bribe of 3000 baht.

  17. Pitstop in SW Chiang Mai (google it)

A Harley / Sportsbike bar on Petchkasem Soi 80. Haven't been in there yet but a collection of impressive machines are next-door in the adjacent lot, told that they are owned by the bar manager/owner.

TT Restaurant and Bar in Khampaeng Pet, on Ratchadamnum Road. 0833 114075

The farang owner used to race in Moto GP and Isle of Man events. Good hang-out area.

    Hope these help Barry.

  18. The level of aesbestos is the lowest concentration in aesbestos cement. The danger levels / types are - Blue (crocidaltye) <typo.> (the worst), brown (Amosite), white (Crysotile) ((still used in some parts of the world)) and finally asb. cement. (used all over)

Which is legal to remove yourself in the UK etec as the threat / fibre level is incredibly low.

So don't worry, you'd have to be smashing the stuff up in a box room and gasping for air to start exposing yourself to risk :o
