  1. Is this related to the thread where the runaway thai wife took the kid to isaan?

Otherwise I have no idea where the OP is coming from.

Ok a child has been whisked out of a brothel following some farang detective work, good one. But was I on planet mars cause I've not seen any backstory to this about the abduction etc etc!

  2. I've got a CBR 400 and they rock and roll around the clock man!

Fast enough for the highways but slow enough to keep you under the hyper-danger-zone of 220 kph ++

Indeed I'd consider it a sports bike, but not a supersports bike. Although with the right mods you can get ones that will exceed 240 kph (de-restricted)

I paid 75k for mine but it's got the book and plates to keep the highwaymen happy :o

Don't know if it's derestricted as I've not taken it about 200 kph (yet) :D

On this black blade for sale there are critical things that put me off.

Reg ok, but any number plates??

Mileage, ok maybe it's been around the houses (mine sure has) but still nice to see what it shows.

No mention of the age / serial nos of engine and frame for the bike.

Nice exhaust but needs fairing shown.

Nice colour. 85 k might be right if all is well :D

  3. Ok brothers, been incomunicardo for three days as I've been touring about.

Currently in Nong Khai, next destination??? UNKNOWN. Will be heading along the mehkong river and then back down through isaan to Bangers where I'm after a tank bag :o

Bikes holding up to the intense pounded and mileage I've put it through.

Just changed the oil, it was black as crude oil! Put 5W 50 Race grade synthetic Mobil 1 in it!

    For 4 liters - 1900 baht!! :D

    Money well spent.

Been stretching her legs a bit on highway 2 north and she'll do about 200 kph :wai:

although normally it's between 100 - 135-140 kph otherwise she guzzles fuel.

The range of my CBR is quirky as I've run her dry running up and down mountains within about 230 kph. But I think for flat conditions probably longer. The tank size is a paltry 14.5 liters or so.

But what the hel_l! if it runs out it runs out and I'll hoof it to the nearest gas station :D

For digs Fan rooms are what I usually go for. Something in the 200 - 350 baht range. I don't mind paying more but for staying somewhere just for 10 hours or so anything more 400 is a bit ott for me anyway.

Worst comes to the worst I'll just sleep next to the bike :D LOL.

Right got to go, I've a shtload of admin and trip reports to note down!

This and the marathon with you boys! Boy it's gonna be a busy four weeks with all the biker blasts! :D

  4. Hi folks,

Just an assortment of pics and a few videos collated into this trip south to Bangers.

This was prior to the helmet cam arriving so no rolling footage I'm afraid.

But it's still pretty neat and shows the various sights and doings at the end of rainy season heading south on highway 1.

    Enjoy :o

  5. Automobiles have been babe magnets for ages since its inception, replacing horse carriages which in turn replaced the ancient chariots.

In LOS, a more expensive car gives the driver prestige and more 'face', but is more 'face' equal to being a babe magnet? Will Thai babes, like babes all over the world, choose someone based on the vehicle he drives?

What vehicle do you think would be a babe magnet in LOS where motorcycles and pickups are ubiquitous, and that you probably need a stick to beat the babes away? :D

Actually the vehicle that you are driving is already a babe-magnet, even a motorbike. Ask your wife/faen/gf/etc.

    Cheers!

    Works for me :D

Other examples include the usual Honda Preludes and Evos, I see a far bit of crumpet getting out of those too :o

  6. depens on where you live for the registration, theres a place on prakanong(lower sukhumvit)...but i think you may be able to get it done at a post office...regarding insuradnce, any insurance company can provide you with the 'po la bo' sticker...

before getting the registration , you have to get the bike inspected at a certified inspection station...unless it i has been 2 years since last registration, then no need...i know this is accurate for cars, but not sure about bikes.

Never had to get the inspection done for my bike.

Just the etching bs and show up the local amphur / registration office.

  7. Just a quick clip of the vineyard I went to with some of the others :o

  8. A German biker I know had been on at me for ages to buzz down to this fairly exclusive vineyard outside of Hua Hin.

Now vineyards aren't really my thing, I'm more a hard liquor kinda guy, but wine tastes good if it's been done right and so after a few more of the boys had been assembled and organised we all met up at the 'Ritzy' McDonalds at mid-day and set off on another adventure!

Setting off through Hua Hin was ok, one of the riders rode this beast of a bike - A BMW 1200 LT Tourer! It nearly got stuck in a traffic gap it was that hoofin' and big! :burp:

It was kinda cool though cause you'd be going alongside and all of a sudden, Bavarian music tunes would drift across from his bike. Very surreal for Thailand.

Heading up Pala-u road for a while, after the bypass intersection we stopped off for some refreshment.

    P1030628.jpg

    P1030626.jpg

Then it was back at it until a non-descript turn-off on the left.

The road got a bit shty here and it was potholes galore in places.

We took a right at a T Junction I think, then after about ten minutes the road became a solid gravel and dirt track, but fairly wide.

A fork in the road appeared with a security booth nestled in the 'throat' of it. We took the right fork.

It took care and diligence though, too fast on a corner and over you go! :o

Arriving there was pretty impressive-looking pastiche of imagery. Vines are to your right and stretch as far as the eye can see!

The road dips, forms a brief causeway then it's a sharp uphill climb to what looks like an impressive Viking-esque feasting hall but with a ski-ramp on the roof!

    P1030671.jpg

    P1030675.jpg

As we made the last ascent off to our left there were some mighty elephants curious at our arrival! Some mahoots were tending to them in the shelter, and it was then that a somewhat old-worlde vibe then set in :D

    P1030664.jpg

On parking our bikes and stepping into the main building it soon becomes apparent that the winery is a well-run business.

    P1030670.jpg

Scores of workers are out tending the vines, new land is being developed and cultivated.

    P1030642.jpg

Heh heh, nothing escapes JK's big eye on the valley :burp:

The tireless beasts of burden we saw before are portrayed as clumping about among the vines carrying heavy barrels for the grape collection.

This is wisdom for they do not disturb the delicate soil too much (compared to a wheeled machine say), plus it give the elephants something to do instead of languishing on the streets.

Fired off a barrage of pics while the other bikers got straight into the 'wine tasting'

    P1030648.jpg

My wine (the middle one), tasted very crisp and sharp with a sweet tangle. A tangle indeed at 180 baht but such are the luxury's :D

It was Monsoon Valley White Shiraz if I remember rightly. I know it's not white coloured, but that's the wine alright.

The sugar daddy of the group (who rides the BMW) was in his element, swishing the wine about and instructing yours truly on how to correctly hold the wine glass, 'not like you're holding a beer! tut tut! Like this..' He'd sqwark.

I wasn't complaining though as it was buy one bottle, get one free and at this my German friend obliged. 780 baht for one bottle! :wai:

I know back home you'd be paying a bit more than that, even with the crappy exchange rates :P

More wine was getting poured, glass after glass. The warm, wooziness of wine settle in and I felt the return trip looming so had to wave off the wine girls eventually :D

The seating areas have balcony's and with it being on the hill you look out into the valley's beyond and feel like you're master of all you survey! :jerk:

I weaved this panoramic pic for you boys!

    Panorama.jpg

The place was fairly quiet, although I met another Skandi expat I knew from HH. He'd come in his car 'Very bad roads' he complained bruskly after we exchanged hello's.

'You should try biking it mate' I mused chirpily.

After about 3 hours of wining it up we called it a day and returned to our machines, now boiling hot from the sun.

Far, far in the distance was Hua Hin, and it was time to return back through pothole city to get to it...

    P1030660.jpg

    Things to know:

The place is called Hua Hin Valley (owned by Siam Winery) at the appropriatley named Baan Khork Chang area. Rough translation - Elephant house something, I'd like to think it's the Elephant Cork House but it's probably something else :D

It's just west of Hua Hin.

Video's being processed, upload to follow!

  9. I'm either missing the point OR just don't know whats cool anymore, i reakon they look like crap....show me a ducati 1198S...now thats cool :o

I'm in my 30s and I agree with you, Ducati is cool, that 'trendy' sht they've done to the bikes isn't.

Tryin' to re-invent the wheel springs to mind.

Good for a photoshoot, not so good out on the streets and amongst day-to-day activities.

  10. Seen this too many times before.

The new guys come to Thailand and get burnt by some snake-oil salesman who vibes he's the master of making money. Some more than others.

Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt and bounced back again!

Ask yourself this question, if these 'genuis' farang who claim this and that are so good, why are they in Thailand? The next Richard Branson? I don't think so. :o

Lesson learned, never again. Same for you, experience is a harsh teacher, she gives the test first and the lesson afterwards.

  11. You know for a second there I thought there was a rival helmet cam bouncing around Thailand, then I saw he'd taken the easy-option!

He looks a twt for riding with fck all gear on! Not even layers!

I think I saw this a while ago come to think of it.

It's typically the 'rent-a-bike for the day with BG on the bag' crowd and then film it on youtube :D

I'm gonna hunt the clip down now and fire off a video response! Show him how it's really done :o
