Not every day you see squirrels, especially not in the heart of a capital city like Bangkok
-
We've all seen these little gecko's but I've never seen one jump like a coiled spring before.
-
Got one of these for a few thousand baht a year ago, riding it's 'differen't compared to even 4 stroke scooters etc.
Anyone own one or got any ideas on modifying etc?
Cheers

How much was it per unit and how much to recharge the Freon?
500 - 800 Baht, depending on the size of the AC.
Not sure on Freon re-charge price...

The fact is that already there are European country's doing very well thank you WITHOUT even being in the god-forsaken EU.
Norway, Switzerland and Iceland are doing just fine.
Everyone said Iceland was going to sink for kicking out the bankers.
Well guess what it's doing fine. It has it's own currency, not in the central bank and goes at it alone.
Norway has trade agreements and that's it.
UK has mercentile forces in the city of london wheeling and dealing like men possessed.
The people want out of the EU but Cameron dances to the money makers tune and so he's pro-EU, but only on their terms (hence him vetoing the agreement).
I can't wait for the EU to collapse, it's long overdue and the sooner the better.
Prolonging it's demise will just extend the pain...

Think you may find it suits TOT.
The rate will deter (or even force back to the UK) the 'old guys'.
If they want to come to Thailand, tourists will come to Thailand irrespective of the exchange rate.
wont affect many since damage already done when it went from 75 to around 50 Bigger problem is inflation here and everywhere. Our income from UK and USA has in effect gone down 50% as a combination of currency debasement and inflation probably more. Add crashes in investment on shares and at least crash in property in USA and soon to come to UK real drop in last 6-8 years is probably nearer 70% or more. So someone with say 4k GBP income a month 7 years ago in real terms probably now only has 1k gbp. Of course if they had not listened to all those who said dont bring anything here and still rent they are whats the word F$#$%. Those of us who brought enough over to buy lots of property shares and like here and reaping benefit are fine thank you.
Is that the scam where you don't actually own the property but rely on the good graces of the government and Thais not to screw you over?

Not really, they've all just detoured to P.I., Cambodia or just try S. America...

in Vietnam the premium smoke is Vinataba @USD0.73 per pack and I useta carry in 2-3 cartons in the checked luggage every trip to either to the UK or to Thailand...gotta be careful these days and watch yerself coming off of a flight from the Gulf area where the smokes are cheap at the duty free...the customs somchais have got your number...
Somchai aint daft, the biggest mistake most people make is rocking up with their Dubai duty free bag in plain sight.
Much better to put whatever you have in your hand luggage and discard the Dubai duty free bag, these duty free bags are like a magnet to Somchai and his mates.
The other thing is breaking up the cigs from the cartons and stashing them all over the bag. Small amounts here and there etc.
Fine and the confiscation is strange, used to be one or the other...

I reckon she was a decoy. someone follwed closely afterwards with 15kg's in a suit case whilst customs attention span was 100% on her.
+1

1.5 kg! Impressive.
> noticed a suspicious white substance in her hair.
Does not sound like the most clever attempt in the world.
You should always refuse to be a drug mule unless working with pros.
LOL, it's the pro's that set her up more than likely!
The expendable mule's are often uses as the fall guy/gal for the bigger mule to get through.
They've been doing this for decades now.
The day's of Mr Nice and professional smugglers is a distant time compared to the junk that goes on now...
-
Handy thing to know and do is keep your aircon tip-top, stop it ponging and increase efficiency etc.
This was how the pro's did it, Thai Style and I watched as all was revealed...

or bank balance = to 900 month x12
That's if you're married though.
I guess work permit is the only way open for most single guy's who dont fancy getting into the mugs game of marriage in LOS...

Going down Siam Square and I see this young lad playing with his wares.
As I'm about to go past him he starts showing off his moves.
Pretty good, how does he do it though?

Open the floodgates and wash it all away!

Is that 50 baht per month for under 2000 baht a kasikorn thing or nationwide on Thai bank accounts?

You're going to report them for what?
A verbal exchange during an interview?!!
Unless they actually took you on, paid you money without a WP you're dreaming up delusions on this one.
I think your heart's in the right place but you're being a bit over-dramatic.
It's like someone discussing drink driving after a night out in the city.
Would you report them for that?!
Talk will not prove a thing and I think you'll probably end up in more trouble then they will.
Oh, for the days when do-gooders like this were few and fare between in this fair land...

You mean its the grumpy old expat back in town ? Last time seen at Emporium.
I think we had some pictures of him a few years ago .
That's who I wondered it might be...

On a couple of occasions I've apologised to Thai staff over the behavior of westerners where it hasn't simply been the case of a moaning foreigner but where the bag of <deleted> in question has spoken to the staff as if they were dogs. I know it's not my position to apologise but I felt better for it.
Not saying this guy wasn't a jerk, but have you ever seen a Thai apologize for the behavior of other Thais toward foreigners? I have not, in fact only seen them try to rationalize it.
Like when you get over charged at a restaurant because of the color of your skin.
If that happened in the west, other westerners would go balistic.
I guess westerner's sense of duty, honor and "saving face" are quite different than those in Thailand, TIT
Look, I know what your saying and I don't take the Thais side usually (because we're outnumbered etc).
But this was so OTT and out of order it was beyond the pale.
Here's the picture of him. Shamed but not named...
-
What was the accent on this guy? You mentioned European...like was it non-native, English speaker, British accent?? just curious.
I'm somewhat shamed to say it was British, Englishman.
A Midlander / Southerner!

Just had a nice morning out and about in Bangkok.
Steps into McDonalds for a bite to eat.
Having washed my hands I've just gotten to the counter when I hear this shouting, booming voice from a farang off to my right.
He's in mid-rant so I only catch the last few sentences, suffice to say this is full volume roaring!:
"I've been in Thailand for ten years to not have to put up with this from the likes of you!!!" RANT RANT RANT
He paused then continued again like a fog horn.
I looked at who he was blundering and blustering at and it was some poor Thai kid. Hardly understanding his noise such was it's viterolic attitude.
The impression I got from it was the order was ready, given to him and the old duffer maybe wasn't used to fast food moves, so the speed of it rattled his brain.
The farang was this dumpy, old git. European I might add shaming us needlessly with this horror spectacle.
As he mooches away with his tray of food (big macs I think), he's still muttering and grumbling.
I was so incensed at the man's rude ways to the Thai kid (who by now was being spoken to by his collegues, who were asking if he was alright). He was ok, I think the fact he didn't understand most of the rant from blunderbuss meant the words must of washed off him mostly.
But I was in full understanding.
I was about to give him both barrels and start a scene when I remembered that someone on here had posted a similar thread about some old git doing similar in a cafe on Sukhumvit.
I had my camera on me, so here's what the gimp looks like (picture to follow)!
After I'd snapped off the picture I deliberately moved my food to where I hoped he'd not sit near.
Somehow, this gimp's radar zoned onto my position and he snapped at me as I went past (something like 'move!' under his breath) I told him to wind his neck in (or words to that effect and he mooched away. Then sat right next to where I'd put my food!
Having got my sauces I went over, grabbed my food and moved to the opposite side of the restaurant rather than sit near the rude and blithering farang.
Having done all that I thought he definately want's to get the Thai Visa treatment.
Mods, if this breaches any of TV's rules please remove the picture.
As it is he really was bang out of order for disrespecting this kid needlessly etc. It's something I've hardly seen in over a decade of travelling, especially in 'tourist friendly' location like McDonalds.
This was at the Robinson's McDonalds on Sukhumvit btw
EDIT: Upload won't work, due to pants connection at my end. The blimp dodges a bullet!

You can have a look here: http://www.thailaws.com/body_english_acts.htm
I think he's after a quicker answer than spending the next week trawling through that tome mate

On that note are any of those law's not going to result in automatic deportation?
Some folks on here make out it's automatic deportation following conviction and time served for minor offences?!

I don't think it's a big deal but I think calling the people you are seeing in Nana Africans rather than blacks would be better.
They call us whites all the time and it doesn't bother me Jingly
Yeah I've noticed there's a few black lads about but not in vast numbers.
I see more arab types floating about up there these days.
Saw a farang with a black lass too today. He looked like he'd just scored the Queen of Sheba (in his mind that is).

The Big Bag flood defence is impressive enough, but what about the small business and home owners?
How do they cope?
Here's how they do it, Thai Style
