Eventually common sense policies which are currently deemed right wing such as having equal trade agreements or more then likely tariffs on Eastern world goods such as they put on our goods, will happen and itll greatly affect the Eastern worlds ability to sell us their tat.
a. The Asians may produce a lot of tat, but they also produce a lot of high quality stuff too.
b. Tariffs are imposed to prevent a flood of cheaply produced goods from putting the national enterprises out of business. It would be shutting the barn door after the horse has bolted. And the barn door will remain closed unless the costs of setting up production in the west are reduced to Asian levels. Which won't happen.
LOL. They said WW1 was the war to end all wars but look what happened!
The b option is more likely than you might think.
China has a growing population, a growing middle-class that's very soon going to be driving up prices for the 'junk' they export overseas.
When that happen's option b, along with savvy western industry's will start to get making decent products at affordable prices again.
There are fingers hovering over the 're-set' button gentlemen...

Out diving to get a reef repaired as best we could.
It was covered in fishing nets and debris in parts...
Vis was excellent and the weather held out for us:

Who the ***k wants to drink foreign pish??..
Draught LEO is the answer, 35 Baht a glass at our local.
Beer is a falang invention.
Start drink Lao Khaoo instead.
No it is not. It was first made in Egypt around the year 1,500 BC. It was a sour beer that they liked very much.
Pilsner, it is a type of beer created in the former Czechoslovakia.
Egypt was pretty much mostly farang back in those days.
I'm more a sangsom drinker than the beery stuff out here...

I don't know of ANY country in the world that allows you to stay indefinitely as a perpetual tourist.
Maybe Thailand should be the first to issue an "S" class visa for Slackers.
Try the Philipines, Cambodia, Malaysia... the list goes on...

Based on what did you qualify for a non-O visa?
Funnily enough for all the reasons I failed to get a tourist visa lol
Like I said I did have the TGF with me and that helped
so having too many back to back tourist visas qualifies you for a non-imm O visa?
It must do, as you can get the long-stay foreigner visa, also known as the Non-imm O Single Visa for visiting 'friends and family'
-
Well said on some of that. The western wheels are spinning on grease and going nowhere. All the while the governments are papering over the cracks in the dyke-walls.
Bye-bye Euro, you won't be missed
Non-Dom Briton's still have residency, it's just you won't pay any tax on bank account's etc
-
Just returned from Vientienne
I too was refused a Tourist visa (single or double)
Too many back to back
That is the bad news
Here is the good news lol
The exact same reason I was refused a tourist visa is the same why I qualified for a non immigrant single entry visa
So instead of panicking just get a new form and apply for a non o
My guess is that the non o costs 2000bt and the embasssy have to make their money somehow lol
In the end it will cost only 100bt more for 3 months
Tourist Visa(60 days) free plus extention (30 days) 1900= 1900
Non immig O 2000 (90 days)= 2000
Btw You won't get a non imm multi entry i tried that and i had the gf with me so that helped
You tend to get the multi-entry one's in your country of origin...

Well Britain's facing a 4 Billion £ bail-out debt to help along Portugal.
The Bank of England is holding interest rate's Yet AGAIN to a paltry 0.5%.
It's looking pretty grim for expats in LOS who rely on frugal pension's an a formerly high exchange rate...

Is it just me or is the writing on the world for the former 'Queen of currency's'?
I'm beginning to think that economist who said 'The Pound is finished' may not of been wildly speculating afterall...

Word of your bike get's around, it's noise wake's the dead and rattles a few false farang's teeth you've given pillion rides too!

Maybe try to delete your cookies, then log in again and see if that helps.
I am using firefox & I tried IE9 and deleted the cookies, still the same thing.
I'm getting the same thing. Each day I go to TV I have to sign in.
Maybe it's a Firefox problem???

Definitely a 'forlorn member' - per his avatar.
Maybe he got buried under a landslide at that point, since the Ranong mountain rode to Chumporn has been/stil is (?) blocked by a couple already.
Nope, still here enough to say 'Fck you very much' and have a nice day too!

The death nell for island paradises in the gulf I fear.
Of course the attempts to bribe the locals with aide packages kicks in instantly. We care for you, since you have oil under you. I don't remember Chevron aide packages for Issan flood victims....
Why....
...oil and gas exploration and production has been going on for 25 year plus in the Gulf Thailand
This is hardly news at all.....a few new concessions have been awarded
Oil derricks in the skyline off Koh Phagnan, K. Tao and K. Samui
will not be maintaining these islands as vacation paradises.
It's not being in the gulf that is the worry but WHERE in the gulf.
The current proposals are not good.
Certainly I can admit a certain amount of NIMBY to this, but putting them around these islands is a sure route to ruining the local economies and the great investments of many companies in resorts and infrastructure. As well as jeopardizing the livelihoods of 10's of thousands of locals.
Less hyperbole please.
Where does it state they are going up around those Islands?
All the Hydrocarbons are much further south....

Kaisikorn may ask for them but Bangkok Bank is ok in some branches...

Reading the whole thread this looks to me like either some very nasty bar that I think, following the results of the trial, should be boycotted by all farang's in Thailand
Yeah.......like thats's really gonna happen.
Don't be so lame, if people on TV acted out what they claim then the lousy attitude from the bad apples would diminish...

I guess you would of just paid the 5000 baht to be polite while she was slinging insults at you
Your right though next time I will keep my mouth shut but stil wont pay 5000 baht for a broken glass
For what it's worth I think you were right to call her a bitch, you were merely stating a fact.
I've had a similar scenario in the past, a stupid price was demanded for some drinks which I refused. I let out a tirade of abuse about how this woman was blatantly ripping off tourists and what a bunch of c^*t$ I thought they all were, then I threw a small fraction of the money they wanted in their general direction so it landed on the floor and she had to scamper around collecting it. This wasn't in Thailand, the country shall remain nameless. I then proceeded to tell the woman in question I was going to find the tout who introduced me to the bar and beat the shit out of him. I did find him and he crapped himself as I held of him by his collars while yelling into his face explaining exactly what I thought of him. I was promptly given a full refund by the two 'barmaids' who came running at me waving my money in the air, suddenly they were eager to please me and decided that I was no longer the victim.
This is how you treat people who rip you off - you don't kiss their <deleted> and try to placate them with diplomacy. You kick their <deleted> and put them in their place.
Apart from the very last sentence you've got the right idea. I don't know why you even apologuised. If she started calling you 'kwai' you've every right to insult her back.
Where was this? Pattaya?

If you have no money and your overweight then your doomed
That's pretty much the bare bones of it.

This has exactly 'what' to do with 'Thai News'???

Who is retarded enough to believe that supercars are made to drive fast on public roads ?
I hope nobody here !
At least people who buy one in Thailand couldn't be so stupid.
Are you kidding me?
What's 'fast' on Thailands roads then?
The speed limit on highways is typically 120 kph +
Are you telling me people drive those things like grandma?
Jeez who stole your manhood and made you a woman? LOL

Thailand has hydrocarbon reserve's, not as much as Saudi Arabia but enough for the country in times of hardship.
HRH The King actually mentioned a few years back that Thailand should move to self-sufficiency, a very wise move.
Financially they are in batter shape when it comes to trade-deficit, borrowing from a foreign power than the western world.
Yes credit is a problem, but compared to back home where saving is a dirty word, out in Thailand saving is considered wisdom.
Foodwise there is enough in Thailand to feed the population. Rubber is plentiful also so bike's and cars will be ok on tyres.
It actually makes useful things for export, unlike the west.
Now look at the shambles that is the UK and the rest of Europe. They import more than they produce for themselves, so expect starvation if food shortages get critical.
From where I'm typing (in LOS) it's a better place than most places elsewhere right now.
As for the 'precarious' situation of farangs in Thailand? Well you can get uncertainty anywhere you go. In Euroland you have a serious, cradle-to-grave welfare state problem. The model of which was based on perpetual economic growth with a constant population growth in tandem. Well that's not happening as much now. Factor in the immigration problem and you have big powder keg that's going to be lit sooner rather than later.
Oh and the EU is pretty much broke with insane bail-out's that have stretched Germany and France (main contributers) to breaking point.
Now Portugal is on the rock's and there's no money left...
So I'll take a bit of terrorist's blowing up stuff in the south over the wrecking-ball heading for the west anyday.

I am, he's someone who is ready for the worst and won't have a breakdown if time's turn really bad out here.
