Australian tourism too has been decimated. Double whammy after bushfires. With all the bad news from Tourism and Exporters in Thailand, The baht ain’t getting knocked down though. Go figure!

And this is where our spineless western governments need to do something. Imagine if a health minister in UK or AU or US said he would never apologise to asians ? There would be outrage and most likely riots not to mention letters of protest from every Asian country , but when tables are turned , our spineless governments keep quite
Ignorant to think that western countries don’t have Asians or Females in senior ministerial roles . Penny Wong for example in Australia was Health minister in the last labor govt.

This virus will plague us financially too. Cost to Australia so far estimated at $1 billion. Yet stock markets still pounding ahead. It’s like a bucking bronco. Cheap cash making it unstoppable...Anyone discovering a vaccine will reap a fortune. And the bubble will get bigger!

According to the IMF's real effective exchange rate calculations, which take into account Thailand's trade flows, the currency's already well overvalued. It's at the strongest by that measure since its crash in 1997, which triggered the Asian financial crisis.Oct 24, 2019https://www.bloomberg.com › articles

A credit default will certainly END the current “irrational exuberance” worldwide, as it did the last 3 times, wiping out billions and as before, will even catch sophisticated economists by surprise.
baht will take an almighty bath too! Personal Debt here is a joke.

Thais are resilient. They recover quite quickly. Mai pen rai and why you think too much is their psychology. Bodes well when the going gets tough.....yup, they get going. We ruminate and extrapolate....

Debt Bomb about to explode and this Comic in chief is a bankrupt specialist. Hillary, love her or hate her , would have made a great President. 2 nd term as she was the President when hubby was in power. But Putin had his way, thanks to dumb voters.
All this stock market exuberance is due to the availability of cheap cash , printed out like toilet paper.

Not surprising. A nation of die hard consumers , very low unemployment and eager to embrace the western culture of greed and busyness, both great for business. That’s where we are falling by the wayside in Australia. Consumer confidence dwindling as folks double down in anticipation of the next gfc, where this easy cheapLy available cash will have us at each other’s throats when the <deleted> hits the fan. Go Trump! Bankruptcy Specialist....

With Chinese tourism their main hope in this damaged section of the Thai economy, TOT might be rattled as to what to do now. This infectious and deadly virus ain’t going to disappear in a hurry! The world is now on full alert!

They must be wrong.
As Buddhists, Thais don't feel jealous, or act out of jealousy.
Buddhist? It’s a far cry from the Buddha’s teachings. It’s 70% or more of superstition. As for them being wrong, they added 80% of sukhimvit hotels in bkk are owned by Thai Indians. I’d say jealousy also springs from <deleted> burning expats.
how does an Indian know when he’s hungry? When his <deleted> stops burning! Hohoho -

With all the Thai-Indian 'Gheks' living here, did they bring some of them along to tell their Indian brothers and sisters about how great, lovely, fair and decent Thailand and Thais are??
????
a couple live at my condo. Both young men are millionaires and drive Mercs. When asked about Thai attitudes towards them, they say it’s pure jealousy. I suppose Jews would understand this.
anyway, looking forward to some nice Indian restaurants to open up, hopefully. Current lot on the nose! -

You must also still have at least 400,000 baht in your account for at least three months after you get the visa.
Sorry. Just got my visa. I was informed It’s got to stay in the bank for the full 12 months. It’s insurance if you go to hospital.

As a retired CHP officer, we posted signs on the CMS boards which read "See a Drunk driver Call 911", we were aggressive and reduced the mileage death rate, saving countless lives, which here is not looked at. I asked my wife about this and she said "You can not change destiny, if meant to die will die, so why fight to change something". That's Thai mentality for you.
My gf said the same thing. So I asked her to drive on the wrong side of the road . And see if her destiny would save her. It still did not sink in!

In Thailand, esp in association with a Thai partner, only invest what you can afford to lose. Advice for those who have yet to cross the line.

My view....they lack any understanding of consequences. Live for today. No idea of simple finances, budgets, economics and so gullible.
The surging baht will decrease gdp and when interest rates do rise, like everywhere, debt bomb will do an almighty reset.

You have 7 days after expiry to do the 90 day reporting.
This is on the Thai Embassy website.
At the airport, they are only interested in the are entry permit.

Not Correct, you might be thinking if someone loses thier job or their reason for an extension, then typically you apply for an extension it is denied and you are allowed 7 days to leave. That is totally different than overstaying his visa.
OP please keep in mind if you are caught by Immigration or the police and found to be on overstay you will be detained in Immigration detention until you have the money for the fine and ticket out. You should be making plans to leave right now, go to Laos, Cambodia etc and get a visa!
On a Retirement Visa , there is 7 days grace if leaving the Kingdom with regards to not doing the 90 day reporting. There is no issue at the airport

You are allowed 7 days grace ( overstay). No penalty. But 23 will definitely be picked up

A global reset is about to take place. And the baht will plummet. The economy here is debt ridden by Thais who have no idea about simple economics. And borrowed to the hilt.
The rich are repatriating their loot out. A high baht is great for that.

Try doing that in person and one might end up paying big money not to go to jail. Not that I know personally, as never paid a bribe to stay.

All corruption is done through agents, from what I gather. Immigration staff can’t organise the cash deposit.

Chiang Mai reels under impact of new coronavirus as tourists stay away
in Chiang Mai News

hopefully it ain’t like a tsunami where it recedes , then floods. That’s if this virus does not wreck havoc on the world economies. Even with bushfires , floods and this virus resulting in an Aussie ban on all China inbound tourists, the Aussie stock market is going gang busters. Like it’s big godfather, the Dow.
