You just say that you are supporting yourself. Then if they want proof show some form of proof that you have funds coming into the country from abroad. The best proof would be a Thai bank book showing transfers in.
Why do people get upset, surely these ed bods, have money to last the year, and following years.
No wonder the authorities dont want em here.

You can study 1 course for 3 years (at the visa factory schools). For example, you can study Thai for 3 years, then Japanese for 3 years, then German for 3 years, etc.
I would recommend that you actually go to classes if you can't speak the languages, because there is a yearly test at the Ministry of Education (at least for Thai).
A better option would be to go to a cheap international university. Courses are very easy, and you only have to take 4-5 classes a semester to be eligible. I slept/skipped halfway through my classes with Bs and As. You'll spend around 60-100k a year, but you get a 1 year visa, and don't have to keep extending every 3 months. You'll also get a degree in the process which means eventually you can legally work here in the 30k a month teaching position you've been dreaming of (or actually get hired at a decent position). Also, university skirts!
I've seen 30-40 year olds in a couple classes so I know a few are taking this route.
30k
who would get out of bed for that

Is it not possible to get 3 years ed visa and then get another consecutive one??
I know people who have been here the best part of ten years "learning Thai" and they can barely stutter a word
There is also boxing schools and cooking schools who can issue ed visas AFAIK
How exactly are they going to crack down on those?
These people WILL get found out, already immigration are asking basic thai questions, if they cant answer, they are warned that the next 90 day,if cannot answer a question ,they will be refused and deported, about time too.

You should take the dog to the vets, have him checked out, eye drops for his eyes.
Give him a good bath, worming tablets and heartworn tablets.
Buy him decent brand dog food and if you well off enough buy him a wheel chair.
If you not well off, send me a PM and I will give you wheel chair for free, proving it fits him/her.
I have a disabled dog with broken legs and spine , I would never put him down.
He has had 5 surgery's and all has healed but he can not walk.
He is very happy and has a great life, inability to walk only bothers me, he is not bothered at all.
He is use to it, he has a huge smile every day, chases cats, plays with other dogs and goes for walks in his wheel chair.
If you love dogs and want to help , help to improve his life instead of killing him.
As I said, if you need advice or wheel chair , drop me a line, happy to help
The dog has an owner, so would be a bit difficult to take the dog away.

To my knowledge a vet will not put down an animal in Thailand

Prayuth in reality has to take the position .
There at this moment in time cannot be any remote possibilty of any political figure from whatever political persusion being placed in the position of Prime Minister.
The matter is delicate and as I have said for a long time Thailand needs an interim period ( my feeling is some two years) in which to re-establish a somewhat cleaner political, civil legal and far less corrupt society.
We are not in my lifetime anyway, nor my childrens either for that matter likely to see corruption swept away, it will always be with us to a lesser degre as it is in every other national society in our world.
The second possibility involves Prayuth retiring and appointing his most trusted aide to be Army chief while he would continue as NCPO chief and PM to balance his power. The above scenario in my view would be the best way to go,
Thailand is at a crossroads politically and socially, the route taken in the very near future will decide the future of Thailand and its peoples.
Which road is the right road?
Indeed a vexing question.
The only road is a democratic 1 man 1 vote way. The only problem is how can thais trust anybody at the moment, they are all crooks

The raids on clubs in Pattaya have been going on for years.A tip off for drugs activity makes the police do their job at long last, and try to stamp out drugs, and lack of drink license too.
I suppose it can spoli the fun for some but 5am isnt exactly early, and the big worry is how many go home by car or motorbike, amazing how stupid some are
-
It seems that many of these people caught with small amounts of drugs give up their supplier. Sometimes the supplier gives up his supplier as well. I'm wondering how the police achieve such a high level of cooperation.
That happens in most places in the world, defo uk.

It is as simple as this: you have the right to show your ass but you don't have the right to cover your body...........Do what you want with your body but please don't cover it...well done France .....keep on dividing your people
What a silly post, to the extreme
where do you have the right to show your ass
Where dont you have the right to cover your body
Surely this is about not showing your face when in a bank or airport.
I bet the french have to take off hats and sunglasses

They've dealt w/ far too many farang idiots and time-wasters already and rightly assume the worst. Get used to it. Of course, the management of the establishment can make a critical difference.
Now, it's a fun challenge to speak some Thai, joke around a bit, and turn around the whole perception--ending w/ a nice experience and favorable impression for both parties.
Pattaya is just a small part of Thailand.
Nonsense post.
I'm from a tourist town and I've been to many other tourist towns.
The customers didn't turn the staff into bitter, lazy racists.
Even in Paris they are allot nicer than the Thais.
I would totaly disagree with you on that. Even french dont like the Parisians, i hated every minute when i went to Paris, obnoxious lot.

MY VIEW
After reading most of the posts, i do believe that the ones who want to leave Thailand get jaded and too high expectation, causes this.
I have not seen any evidence of thais having more hatred for non thais, not seen thais changing.
What i have seen is many farangs getting jaded due to alcohol, a total lack of reality, the hatred to thais, yes it happens, read any forum, and the hatred is very evident, mainly the whore mongers. I here farangs moaning about the cost of ciggies/ booze compared to 5 years ago, give me a life please. Most farangs who have a good relationship, and dont drink to excess seem to be the happiest.

Shouldn't all our USA haters and bashers (Brits, mainly) all show up in force to boo and disrupt the celebration? Looking forward to speeches in perfectly-accented Brummie or Geordie.
have you ever thought of visiting a shrink ???????????????????????????????

How about the "Come learn Thai at my language school and we will get you a long term visa" advertisements that we often see. Will these schools still be able to use this 'loop hole' to increase their business.
This is caled an ed visa. no loophole, but abuse is rife. Some have been getting ed visa, mainly kiddies, and cant even count to 100.
I read somewhere that one has to show an income for an ed visa, and are being checked at immigration, to see if they are actualy turning up for learning thai.

I just hope he doesnt come to the premier league, we have enough of divers
Suarez
Bale( gone)
Sturridge
Sterling
seems like Liverpool are good trainers.

Apparently he got banned for getting sent off, refusing to leave the pitch, then punching the ref, he was 16 yo then.
Uruguay should be banned from the next world cup for that statement

Obviously, if you bought a vehicle and/or signed a lease/purchased a condo...then you should not be thinking about Tourist Visas anymore.
It would be great if Immigration would come out with an "Amnesty" agreement. In other words, a residency card for law abiding, foreigners who have no record of criminal activity and who have good income. Perhaps some references from some upstanding Thai business people as well.
Clearly...I can see a need for an indefinite "Residency Card". I had one for the Philippines for quite some time. No need for annual O Visas and extensions of stays. All other means (Tourist Visas/Visa exempts) are no longer an options...it appears. At best, I can see a lot of nervous people trying to dance the "two-step" while Immigration throws out a series of questions every time you return to Thailand. That would always be a negative.
A nice followup to these Crackdowns would be an announcement of such a residency card. Perhaps just an annual reporting in would also free up Immigration to better deal with overstayers/abusers of Visas ...especially those who are committing crimes or working illegally.
Hope to read something about this in the future....and am hoping for the best
You don't get it do you? The Thai don't want foreigners living in Thailand. Kid yourself all you want, but visa or no visa, you are not 'welcome' to stay long term. And to think that the Thai differentiate between 'good and bad' foreigners is ridiculous. All foreigners are bad.
You are talking like it affects you???
A stupid statement. Thailand do not want non thais abusing the system, ED visas will be next, that will be the end of the under 50 illegal workers, many many of them
It certainly doesn't affect me at the moment. I work a 28/28 rotatation so rarely have an issue of being in the country over the 30 day stamp. However I'm married to a Thai, and sometimes for one reason or another stay over the 30 days. I will get a non 'o' multi next month from Savanakhet for this very reason.
Good man, it is so easy to comply to immigration requirements, no hassle in the slightest, good luck

I believe there is, at least there was a non o( others)
This was a 1 year visa issued to people who had a letter of invitation from a Thai .
Not sure if it still exist or issued, but this might be the only choices for those wanting to stay long term but under the retirement age.
Yes ED is still an option but I think they will start testing the skills
The days when getting a Non O for visiting Thai friends have long gone,
You need to be over 50 or married, but even then it isn't that straight forward.
It was abused for years. The bottom line is that many people under 50(non thai) have been working without work permit, and immigration want to stop this.

Suthep needs to diet badly, so maybe a good thing his fundrasing is cancelled

Few hours ago walked from 3 road to 2 road via Pattaya tai, past friendship and tuk com.
All cafe's empty, tuk com, almost empty, hardly any people on the street. Saw 2 foreigners on that entire stretch
I did a walk similar, but never saw an alien
Stricter requirements, new application forms for ED visa extensions
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
