My local Tops market removed all the beer from the shelves and cooler. They put tea and water on the shelves. Now the poor employees have to remove the tea/water and put the beer back up. But for how long? Also, the Air Conditioning at this location is either off or at a high temp because every time I go in it seems rather warm. I’m looking out for the employees and the sale of alcohol should never be banned again.

So if a restaurant or Phone Shop is located in a mall then if cannot open? If the same type of business is not located inside of a mall then it can open?
Also, at what capacity can such a business open? 25, 50 or 100%? I expect confusion on Day 1. At least I can buy a bottle of wine on Sunday.

Maybe Chiang MaI will one of the few places where Chinese Tourists will be welcomed with open arms? Can’t imagine other ASEAN countries thinking about Chinese tourists anytime this year.
Doubt if S. Korea or even Japan is thinking about how to welcome Chinese Tourists this year. Japan is considering extending it’s state of Emergency until at least June.

Recently spoke to an out of work lady and she said her boss expects a June 2020 opening??? Hmm. Maybe or Maybe not? Could not imagine LOS without massage parlors(with or without a happy ending).

If Joe wins in November the most important person in his administration will be the Vice President(he has already promised to pick a woman). Doubt Joe will be able to do much. I’m not sure if he can finish his term. Hilary has tried twice to become President through the front door and failed miserably. How about the VP route and then invoke the 25th Amendment and declare Joe as mentally incompetent? Then her dream would finally come true.
Covid 19 and the aftermath will be the defining issue for the Presidential Election. No matter what Donald has done or will do will matter much. No economy in the world will be able to mount any kind of meaningful recovery before November 2020. The one time $1200 thank you payment to the American Taxypayer will be a distant memory by election time. Also, it gets cold in the Northeast by November so a 2nd wave could hit by then and then a Joe Biden victory could become reality. Let’s see how Joe deals with 5 Trillion added to the national debt along with slow economic growth. A nation can only print so much money. “Kicking can down the road” can only last so long before the can hits a brick wall. The brick wall is coming up fast.

They are not alone. This is a photo of an American Airlines Domestic flight in the US.
Airlines ask for bailouts and they do this during a Pandemic.

Phase 1 opening: The key term will be something like 50 to 60% capacity only. For instance if a restaurant can normally seat 10 people then only 5 o 6 customer allowed in at one time. The same would go for airlines, buses etc.
As for service providers I do not see a high risk if a barber just cuts hair. I do see higher risk if the same barber shaves the customer. If both the barber and customer wear masks, sanitize hands, equipment, chair and smock before then I see little risk in cutting hair. At the current time tattoo parlors should not be allowed to open.
Massage Spas and salons? Who knows. The safest massage I see at the current time is a foot massage with masks and sanitizers?
As for gyms I see it this way.
1) No air conditioning. Open air with fans and reduced capacity(the same 50 to 60% rule). Gyms with showers should close them off. Also, reduction in the number equipment to create more open space.

I get suspicious whenever I read “Lead by East Asia or East Asia Centric”. It just means China. I believe China has been damaged. Countries of the world will fall into two categories when the “dust settles” on the Covid 19 Pandemic.
Of course this presumes the dust will settle on Covid 19?
1. Those who need China
2. Those who do not need China
I do not believe Chinese, their money and their people will be welcomed back with open arms by all countries. Of course LOS desperately needs the Chinese for their economic survival and you can’t fault anyone for dealing with a “Devil” in order to survive. The Devil comes in many forms. Right now China and the CCP is engaged on a two front campaign:
1. Deflect blame for the Pandemic(The US Army created it and brought to Wuhan in October 2019). Why not the CIA? I am waiting for the final episode of Homeland and maybe Carrie ends up in Wuhan with a vial of Corona Virus.
2. International Medical Aid missions to assist in Covid 19. So far China has sent medical supplies and teams to Serbia, Italy, Spain, Indonesia and the Philippines. On the surface these missions appear to have benevolent and charitable reasons but I remember an old adage: “Beware of Chinese bringing gifts”.
I do not see a world where “East Asia (AKA China)” is on Top of the world.
Of course I could be wrong and China could end up being on Top of the World.

The Security Guard could be right. The other day I saw a few Daiso Employees walk into Maya Mall. I presume they were getting the store ready to open soon? Now I just have to track down my barber and see if and when he can open?

I did some research about Covid 19 insurance.
1. Several Thai insurance companies sell Covid 19 Insurance but based upon my research the policy limit is only at 1 million Baht. This will not satisfy the past immigration of 100,000 USD(slightly over 3 Million Baht).
2. I have Pacific Cross health insurance and they will cover Covid 19. I believe other Thai Health Insurance Companies will also cover for Covid 19 Illness related treatment.
3. The Travel Insurance Companies I have checked with have a large disclaimer on the first page. In short it states Covid 19 has been declared a pandemic and no coverage is provided for pandemics.
If the current Immigration Covid 19 Insurance requirements remain then it will be very difficult to find a policy to satisfy this. Of course everything is subject to change.

Similar online 90 Day report experience.
1. CNX Immigration Office
2. IOS
3. Browser Safari
4. Within the 15 Day window
5. Submitted on Wednesday afternoon and approved by Thursday morning
The process was rather easy and to my surprise seamless(few things in LOS are like this).

I placed an order with Iherb on Feb 18 and it arrived on April 7. I consider myself lucky that the order actually arrived. I can’t imagine what the delivery time must be know? Hopefully my current supply of supplements lasts long enough for air travel to somewhat resume to a normal level(famous last words “Normal Level”?).

A Michigan state lawmaker infected with COVID-19 is crediting the controversial anti-malarial drughydroxychloroquine with saving her life — saying she felt better within a few hours of taking her prescription.
Democratic state Rep. Karen Whitsett of DetroIt.
She sounds like someone who owns a MAGA Hat? She claims Hydoxychloroquine saved her life. Is she lying? It does help some with Covid 19. It may not help others. This latest study is not all conclusive. If I had Covdid 19 and was in the ICU then I say what the hell find me some. The same will probably be said of Abigan and Remdesivir.
Also, what is this financial connection between the makers of HydroxyCholorquine and Donald Trump? A lot it is made in India?

Amazing Sandwiches on Huay Kaew Road appears to have close for good. I saw a truck removing everything out a few weeks ago and now there is a for rent sign in front. I will miss it. Good food and friendly staff(cute girls).

The first thing that will have to stop is Shared Dorm type rooms and bathrooms at Hostels. This may be a good thing because the number of “Backpackers” might be reduced.
Also, Gyms will have to be more open and reduce the number of people who allowed in at one time. I keep hearing the phrase “50%” occupancy as the New Normal.

This made me smile and laugh.

To answer the question, I went with Pacific Cross.
1. Good customer service. Main reason is I dealt with two British Guys and communication(mostly through email) was seamless.
2. I chose a policy with the higher than the minimum of 400K and 40K.
3. The annual premium was reasonable for my age(I am 57).
I contacted two other companies on the TGIA website and they were only interested in one thing: You want to buy? It was difficult to get any questions answered by the other companies.
My plan was to renew with them but with Covid 19 I am not sure about my long range plans for LOS.

I have a beer every 2 days. I will run out before April 30. I severely miscalculated. Today the high will around 40 C and I have been just advised electricity will shut down this afternoon for 3 hours. Oh humanity.

Sounds like a good idea until your the one who gets a False Positive Test. What then? Go to the back of the line and wait 30 minutes and retest? I guess the word will be”. Arrive Really early to ensure enough time for testing and check in” I can’t imagine every check in counter will have the testing machine? Chances I will make one International Flight this year(the one takes me back to my homeland).
Flying will be difficult. I cannot imagine any airline will allow maximum passenger load form now on. Just imagine what your last Air Asia flight was like. The last time I flew Air Asia every seat in the Airbus A320 was full. With Social Distancing guidelines I believe airplanes will have a max passenger load at 50 to 60 %?? Of course this pretty much guarantees losing money for most airlines. “The New Normal”.

I believe the following conditions will be placed on foreign arrivals in the near future(at least I hope not but I am a realist):
1. Health Certificate-Indicating Negative for Covid-19.
2. Travel or Health Insurance that covers Covid 19 related medical treatment with a policy limit of 100,000 USD or approximately 3 Million Bath. I have found policies that will cover this condition but policy limits have only been 1 million Baht. Unless the Government changes the policy requirements then the next time I fly out of LOS will probably be a One Way Trip. Then it was fun for the last few years. I will miss it.
3. Quarantine for 14 Days upon arrival at your own expense
If these conditions are set and enforced then RIP to Tourism.
Of course arrivals from Mainland China might not have to concerned?

Al Jazeera had a mini debate on this issue. The China excuse guy brought up the America has institutionalized discrimination against African Americans for years and China is under emergency circumstances to contain the virus. Therefore, Excuse me and my country. African woman living in Wuhan said “Nothing new”. The Academic in Hong Kong said in essence said the something as the African woman in Wuhan
Again “African Brothers” in China have nothing to fear.
On this issue the Al Jazeera hosT, Michele Carey, was fair and objective on this issue. She pushed against the Chinese Mouthpiece several times but he did not back down. It looks like China is saying “nothing to see here just keep moving”.

BufBill, I feel the same way. I am in LOS and I am concerned if I take a trip out of LOS then I risk the chance of not being able to get back in. I have thought of taking a trip to USA in September but I have serious doubts that international travel will be “Normal” by then.
At this point planning a trip into or out of LOS with a need to get back in would not a wise idea.

This is from irs.gov:
U.S. residents will receive the Economic Impact Payment of $1,200 for individual or head of household filers, and $2,400 for married filing jointly if they are not a dependent of another taxpayer and have a work eligible Social Security number with adjusted gross income up to:
- $75,000 for individuals
- $112,500 for head of household filers and
- $150,000 for married couples filing joint returns
I interpret U.S. Resident as someone who actually lives in the US or puts a US Address on his/her Form 1040? Therefore, if one puts a Thai address on the 1040 then he/she would not be eligible? Of course I am thinking logically and it might not matter?

Africans in Guangzhou are on edge, after many are left homeless amid rising xenophobia as China fights a second wave of coronavirus.
This from a well known media outlet.
1) I did not know Africans lived in Guangzhou.
2) Chines are Xenophoic? No way. Obviously a defamatory statement?
3) Chinese are helping the world to fight this Virus. They have landed in Serbia, Italy and in Manila to bring their expertise to fight this Virus. Just checkout the mainland media. The Serbian President even kissed the Chinese flag.
This is not the time to play “The Blame Game”, But this Virus(Wuhan or Chinese or US Army Transmitted it during the Military Games etc, etc) has made the World Virtual Prisoners. The Economic Damage is and will have so many zeros a Trillion will seem like nothing. In the end some accounting will have to be made. If the Virus kills a million then how many millions will die as result of the damage caused by the response to the virus. I expect the number of Suicides will rise in all corners of the globe.

Flexible and Strict Measures

So a Starbucks located inside of a mall cannot open but if it’s located outside of a mall it can open?
I just went to Rimping at Maya and there was a new sign posted which said the mall was closed until May 15. Could this mean the entire mall will reopen on May 16?
I guess we will just have to wait and see.
