  1. Burger, fries and a drink will be at least $10.  Will this fly in Thailand?  I have tried Shake Shack in Los Angeles and it was good.  But I prefer Inn-N-Out anyway.  Being a Christian company or not is not a factor for me.  I also go to Chik-Fil-A as well.  A big Clue bout Chik is they are closed on Sundays.  Last time I ate at Chik  I had a chicken sandwich, fries and a drink and it was over $10.

  2. Finally got an answer from this shop( I will never go there again).  It took several messages on Line and a couple of phone calls).

    1.  Your Ipad is old

    2, The circuits are old

    3.  The technician had an accident during battery removal/installation(really do not know what he meant by this?)

    4.  The lines on the screen cannot be removed.  Great.  Thank you and 555.  Finding a quality repair shop is really difficult.

"You can pick up the Ipad tomorrow".   The Saga of the Ipad battery replacement in CNX is now over. I got to spend 3500 Baht for a new Ipad battery and black horizontal lines on my screen.  I would call this a great deal.

On that note I might as well buy a new Tablet(this time I will probably buy a Samsung).

  3. I have on OA so I will respond to specifics about this visa:

    1.  If you have Tricare then are you US Military retired?  Is your  monthly pension around $2,000?  If so then go the 65,000 Baht monthly income equivalent route.  If not then you would just need a bank statement stating you have the equivalent of 800,000 Baht.  Just like the O Visa the money does have to seasoned for the initial application.

    2. A medical certificate with a doctors signature is required.

    3.  Criminal background check can be completed with companies called "FBI channelers".   I can recommended two but not sure  I can state the companies on this forum

  4. Recently a well known independent Apple Repair Shop in CNX replaced the battery on my Ipad Pro.  Now the screen has 4 vertical black lines on the right edge of the screen.  Also the right edge appears darker when I put the device on a white screen.  I took the Ipad back to the shop and asked what happened.  The answer I got was this: "it is delicate matter and we have to investigate more, please give us two days".  I thought to myself 555..  So I played dumb and politely said "take as much time as your need".

I am not tech savvy but it looks moisture got inside my device during the battery change?

Can anyone who is knowledgeable about Ipad's offer comments on moisture getting into Apple Devices, the indications and long term effects.

  5. I know someone who was asked to put a deposit down before he was admitted to a hospital in BKK.  He had a bad case of food poisoning and spent two nights in a very nice room  The total bill was over 20,000 Baht and a 10,000 charge was placed on his credit card before he was treated.  In the end it was an IV, some meds, blood work and some bland hospital food.

  6. These are maintenance intensive aircraft.  Realistically a team of foreign maintainers will have to be part of the package.  The helmet alone costs over $200,000.  Even washing the aircraft has to be done a specific way as to not comprise the stealth nature of the surface.  I have always had doubts about how aircraft are maintained in Thailand but my concerns were alleviated when I saw a group of German Aircraft Maintenance managers at Don Muang.  Apparently these managers have the final say as to when aircraft are cleared to fly after maintenance.

  7. I paid Cash(Baht) and used my Bangkok Bank Debit.  Also, I have once used my USA bank issued American Express card to purchase food once while I was in Quarantine in BKK.  Since then I have deleted the AMEX from the Grab App and I presume I could have used it to pay for rides as well.

  8. "A Covid patient battled the same infection for nearly 18 months, in what is believed to be the world's longest known continuous case.

Scientists say the unidentified British patient — who eventually died — was severely immunocompromised."

I cannot imagine what this poor guy went through before he died...  My experience lasted only about 7 days and another 7 days of a lingering sore throat.

So even after my antigen tests turn negative there's a risk of my being positive on a PCR? Scary. Luckily EU countries do not require a pre-boarding test on flights from TH right now I think.

In short yes.  But the US CDC says up to 90 days one can test positive on a PCR.  I believe in some cases beyond 90 days.  Also, the US CDC will accept a Coviid Recovery Certificate up to 90 days since infection.  I recently recovered myself and I am planning on a trip to the US in about 4 months.  At this point I do not need a recovery certificate and the US will accept an Anti-gen test from a clinic or hospital.  If a covid test is still required for US entry I plan on getting an anti-gen test for the trip.

  10. mrmickbkktx, let me give you a little of reassurance.  My story is about the same as the others have stated.

    Sunday-sore throat and normal temperature

Monday-sore throat, stuffy nose and normal temperature

    Tuesday-same symptoms

      1) First ATK test was negative in the morning

      2) Second ATK test was positive in the evening and this test was a different brand

Wednesday to Sunday self isolated at home and the symptoms got better

Monday-slight sore throat and nose was clear

During self isolation I conducted an ATK test every two days.  All came back positive.

    Tuesday-ATK was negative.

I did daily ATK tests for the next five days and all came back Negative(I used ATK kits from 4 different manufacturers).  I have a blood pressure at home and checked my BP everyday.  My BP readings were always normal.  In my case there was no need to go see a doctor or even go to a clinic.

The only thing I took was Ricola cough drops.

It is appears I got Omicron.  Like most I have no idea where I caught it.

The Covid Recovery certificate would only be necessary if one plans on international travel withing the next 30 to 60 days.  From my research it appears most recovered people stop testing positive within two weeks to a month after being infected.  In my case it was about a week between a positive and the first negative reading.

I would suggest you  keep isolating, monitor your symptoms and conduct an ATK test every two or three days.

The irony is I had gotten my 3rd Pfizer shot 6 days before I developed the sore throat.

Iam looking into going to SIN airlines then onto CNX.  I am not sure based on the new rules do need to clear immigration first in BKK.  However, before pre-covid there was no need to clear immigration

Remember Singapore Airlines nonstop flights from SIN to CNX are only operated by Scoot Air(A subsidiary of Singapore Airlines).  If your itinerary says this then CNX will be your port of entry into Thailand and not BKK.

  12. Which airline are you considering for the arrival into CNX?  For May I only see Singapore Airlines with a nonstop stop from SIN to CNX on it’s subsidiary Scoot Air.  If this is your plan make then make sure the reservation clearly indicates CNX is the first port of entry into Thailand.  Some of the other flights stop in BKK first and one could have to clear immigration first and then transfer to a domestic flight.

  13. I had one implant and crown done in the US more than 10 years ago.  The total cost was $8,000 and it took 6 months for the implant to fuse with the jaw bone.

I’ve had 3 implants and crowns done by a dentist in Chiang Mai in the last three years.  All the implants were Ossteem and each cost 36,000 Baht.  The Zirconia crown was 15,000 Baht each.  So far no complaints. The Osstem implants required 2 to 3 months to fuse.

  14. You are asking a very broad question.  What policy limits are you looking for?   Are you looking to buy Health Insurance that will comply with the Non Imm OA Visa? Are you only looking for IPD(inpatient) or do you want OPD(Outpatient) as well?  Most importantly how old are?  If you are over 65 or even 60 then starting a new health insurance policy will be difficult.

Even before you sit down with an agent or broker have answers to the question in mind.

I'm pretty sure I got Omicron about 24-36 hours after contact.  I had two doses of Pfizer but that was 9 months prior to the Covid.  The first two days were the worst.  Heavy cough, upper body ache, hot and cold, extreme fatigue.  5 day ordeal and done.  I stayed at home the whole time.  Tested myself the first day and I was positive.

Did you have a fever?  From what I am hearing a fever is not symptom of Omicron.  Also, it definitely appears Pfizer's effectiveness diminishes a few months after the second dose.  I got my 3rd Pfizer 15 days ago.  I am going to presume that if I should contract Omicron now I should only have mild symptoms and no fever? It also appears for most healthy and vaccinated people Omicron appears to be a 7 to 10 event.

When did you stop testing positive?  I have read a positive ATK test will result even a month after recovery?
