I just walked back from the gym and you could see and feel the air. When I woke up the AQI was 155. But inspite of the terrible air I still saw many people having breakfast in restauarnt patios and of course many were smoking. I thought instead of lighting up just take deep breaths in. What's the difference? "It's all carciconogenic and the junk in the air is free".

Then define Sucess in terms of the attacks on Iran? Because the US is not at war with Iran. POTUS has said "Iran must surrender". How can they surrender if this is not a war? This seems to be a catch 22? What comes after the present Iraninan government is terminated? The CIA seems to be a gigantic waste of money. Do they have any human assets inside of Iran? SIGNIT is not difficlut because it is technology based. But HUMINT is very difficult This is because agents and assets must be recruited, cultivated and maintained inside of hostile and enemy nations. Are the vast majority of Iranian people willing to defy their government and be willing to die to have a democratic nation?

What excatly is "indirect negotiation"? is it sening text messages to each other? I might need better news sources but after bombing a country for a month how about face to face meeting to end it or just keep bombing. I am a combat veteran and not some woke liberal. I knew people who did not come home from their last combat deployments in 2006 and 2010. So far US casualties have been low but I do not believe it is worth the risk to send a MEU or a Combat Brigade into Iran. What would that accomplish? After Epic Fury do we transition into Operation Iranian Freedom? "we will be welcomed as liberators', Donald Rumselfd 2002 before Operation Iraqi Freedom.

5 day pause and now a 10 day pause until "hell is unleashed". The difference between threats and keeping promises is the deadliine does not shift and shift. Eventually the threat will lose it's value. Obama had his "red line" moment and it did not go well. Also, I thought all the relevant military targets had been demolished.

When I was deployed to A-stan I heard Colonels saying repeatedly "Rummie wants this and Rummie wants that and now". Of course they were refering to Sec Def Donald Rumsfeld and one even said "this deployment could make or break my career". It seemed like they were afraid of "Rummie". Apparently Sec Def Rummie had unrealistic expcetations about the unrealistice goals he had set forth. Rummie was the guy who said "we will be hailed as liberators by the Iraqi people" and "we do not need 300,000 to secure Iraq". The 300K was the number of personnel then Army Chiefl of Staff Erick Shinseki said was needed to secure Iraq after the invasion. Gen Shinsekf was then dismissed by Rummie. We all know what happened in Iraq between the years 2004 and 2007.

1) Where will the 82nd actually be deployed to? Stage in Kuwait? Stage in Qatar 2) How will they be deployed into Iran? An actual combat airborne drop? Board C-17's and land inside of Iran? This would require a secure airfiled. I guess an 82nd airborne drop wih USAF CCT (Combat Controllers) would be the answer. At this point I do not see US personnel actually land or drop inside of Iran. But then with this POTUS anything is possible.

Then why the 82nd now and how about the 173rd out of Italy? Wouldn't the 173rd's response time be faster then the 82nd from Ft Bragg? I know the primary AO for the 173rd is Europe and Africa but ME is pretty close.

82nd is the rapid reaction force to "be first in". The bombing campaign has been ongoing for weeks. Also, 82nd has limited number of armored vehicles and if they were to truly "jump" into Iran or an Iraninan island they would need a ton of support quickly. At this point a mechanized briigade might be the better option to take and keep terriroty? But of course the best military minds are in the White House and the nonwar is going great. Just wondering this time what excactly will be victory or even as a former POTUS said over 20 years ago "mission accomplished" look like?

You just described my gym in CNX. I see the exact same behavior every time I go there. My 90 minute to 2 hour workout could completed in about an hour but so many just sit and look at their phones again and again. Most of the "phone" sitters are locals but some foreigners do the same as well. I am one of the "oddballs" who leaves his phone in the locker (where it belongs). I know some will say they need to hear music with their earbuds but if one is actually serious about fitness then "I don't need a phone to motivate me". But I never just find an unoccuppied machine and carry on with my workout.

Weather was not a factor. It was raining and the RWY was wet but visibility was 4 to 5 miles. The CRJ touched down without incident. The controller on the ATC tape sounded like he was hurrying his transmssions. The controller cleared the Fire Truck to cross an active RWY even though an aircraft had just landed on the approach end. I do not see any potential liability on the aircrew of the CRJ. Though all of my experience is in general aviation even I know the fire truck should not have been cleared to cross the RWY 4. The other option would have been to order the CRJ to exeute a go around to enable the fire truck to safely cross the RWY. The fire truck needed to cross RWY 4 to get to where the United Airlines aircraft reported an odor.

From what I see this could be the shortest aircrash investigation in the history of the NTSB. The controller who cleared the Port Authority Fire Truck to cross in front of the CRJ is heard 18 minutes later on tower frequency and said "I messed up". The CRJ had just landed on RWY 4 and about 1/3 down this RWY is intersection Delta. This was where the fire truck was cleared to cross directly in the path of the CRJ. The RWY was wet so aircraft need more distance to decelarate after touchdown. Both pilots probably saw what was coming right in front of the them. Aircraft are made mostly of aluminum and fire trucks are made mostly of heavy duty steel. The only saving grace was the fuel tanks were left intact and there was no explosion. The FAA and LaGuardia will be in for a slew of lawsuits and lawyers are probably lining up to take on clients. It looks like the FAA did not learn much from what happened at DCA in January 2025 when an Army Helicopter collided into a CRJ that was landing. That night one controller was in the tower. At LGA it sounded like one contoller was also on duty in the tower. Both inciddents happened at night at busy commercial airports.

I listened to the ATC broadcast. The Jazz Air CRJ (Operating as an Air Canada flight ) had just landed on RWY 4. The CRJ was decelerating on the RWY and then Truck 1( I believe Port Authority Fire Department) requested clearance to cross the same RWY. ATC (I believe the tower) clears the Fire Truck to cross the same RWY the CRJ was decelrating on. ADSB data incidated the CRJ was taxing at 21 knots before the impact. During the last few seconds of the ATC tape the controller could be heard yelling "Jazz Air stop, stop". By then it was too late. Truck 1 was responding to a call to assist a United Airline aircarft on another RWY. As a pilot one of the cardinal rules in any level of aviation is to not let any aircraft or ground vehicle enter an active RWY that an aircraft had landed or is about to takeoff. RIP to the Captain and First Officer.

If people on phones at the gym were to disappoer tomorow I could get a full workout in less time. Yesterday one of local girls put her towel down on one weight station and then started recording herself stretching in front of the mirror on the other side of the gym. I removed her towel to use the weight and she pointed at me and I shrugged my shoulders and starting using the weight station. I may have ruined the timing of her session. Smart phones are great tool and necessay tool in modern life but not at the gym and certainly not while driving. Oh well we are in the minority.

When this many aircraft are over on AO(Area of Operation) one or more will encouter hostile fire. Heck even the the Yugoslav Army shot down an F117 (Nighthawk Stealth Fighter) back in 1999 with a SAM. The worst case would be for an American pilot to eject over Iran.

99% of the people at my gym in CNX bring their phone. I am the oddball that does not need to look at my phone while running on the treadmill, stretching and lifting weights. Hence the phone stays in the locker. So far no one has brought a phone into the sauna or steam room. At least not yet. Most of these people spend an hour at the gym but spend at least 30 minutes of that time looking at their phone. Some actually bring the phone to listen to music with their ear buds that is a small percentage. Back in Southern California every gym I belonged to had one golden rule: No phones on the gym floor. The gyms I have belonged to in LOS have few rules.

Totally agree with you. I emailed a range in the CNX area and asked the usual firearms related saftey questions. Never went to the range. The person responding did not seem the understand the concept of a Rangemaster. To me a Rangemaster is like god. When he or she yells "Cease Fire" everyone obeys. From the response I got a firearms safe handling class did not sound like it was part of the experience.

First rule of firearms handling: ASSUME OR PRESUME ALL FIREARMS ARE LOADED AND THE SAFETY IS OFF. I have handled firearms for over 30 years and carried them on duty in both law enforcement and military and these types of ND's (Negligent Discharge) do occur. Do not have much faith in the safety culture of firearms ranges in LOS. Hence I have never been to a range in LOS.

This series is quite old but just became avalialbe on Netflix Thailand: The Man in the High Castle. Originally came out in 2015 on Prime. In short it portrays how America could have have been if the Nazi's and Japan had won WWII. Just finished the first season and I fiind out it interesing.

I stopped buying Apple products when my Macbook air and Ipad both died after more than 7and 6 years of faithful service. I didn't like the direction Apple was going (most of it's products were $1000 or more). I have been using Samsung for the last few years(Laptop, Tablet and phone). No complaints about Samsung but have always liked Macs and Ipads. Heard that the new Macbook Neo was available starting March 11. The starting prices are $599 and $699. The Neo was exactly the laptop I have been waiting for. I really like laptops with small screens. The Neo has a 13 inch screen. I have been to Studio 7 and Powerbuy, both do not know when or if the Neo will be availabe in the Land of Smiles. Has anyone heard when or if the Macbook Neo will be available in LOS?

"against this illegal war and against the madman" would qualify as reasons to not obey orders of superior officers. Only the JCS-Joint Chiefs of Staff recieve direct orders from the CIC(Trump). All other service members recieve orders from superior officers.

In some cases CO's have applied relgious reasons. Quakers during WWII refused to take up arms. Some were allowed to serve as medics or in other non combat arms positions. Presently I firmly believe a service members who can prove he or she is astrict observer of Muslim beliefs and practics could refuse to serve in any position that directly supports attacks on Iran. I also believe any service member of Iranian heritage could do the same. The simple argument would be "I do not want to participate in the killing of my brothers and sisters".
