Is new COVID-19 variant a cause of concern for Thailand?
Partenavia replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Unlikely to find omicron any time soon in Thailand, they barely do any testing worth mentioning. -
Travelling to USA from Uk, just opened up today. 1. Book Flight. 2. PCR test within 72 hours of flight. 3. Double vaccination proof either on phone or certificate. 4. All checked at check in. 5. On arrival USA all checked at passport control. END OF STORY.

I doubt whether real tourists will jump through all the hoops to get here, so the roads should be OK for a while yet.

Thai military feels the heat over plan for solar farm
Partenavia replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Solar is an obvious way forward in Thailand, however, you will never see private solar feeding the national grid, not allowed here. It is also very expensive to install, and as usual, poor quality. -

Opinion: Rubber glove scandal a national embarrassment in the making
Partenavia replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I watched the CNN report, interesting, obviously been going on for some time. The government response is what you might expect, on the other hand I'm a little surprised that this hasn't been classified as "fake news" -
Thailand ranked among the top 6 places in the world to retire
Partenavia replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I first came to Thailand in 2006. In those days there was a favorable exchange rate, it was relaxed and very few issues, good circle of friends. Fast forward to 2018, poor exchange rate masses of tourism, most of my friends left. Everything that I enjoyed now expensive. I left Thailand before the pandemic struck, on a holiday. I haven't returned since, and when I do come back it will be for a short holiday. Retiree's beware. -

Thailand to end quarantine for some vaccinated visitors from Nov - PM
Partenavia replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Many international flights come via intermediate hubs in the Middle East. So if those countries are not on the list, then quarantine is still likely to apply. -
Clearly not written by the Thai Government, this is the way the Chinese operate.

Government Spokesman: Number of recovered COVID-19 cases rises
Partenavia replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The number of recovered patients is totally irrelevant, what counts is the number actually in Hospital and in ICU -
I suggest he takes a trip around the country, and looks at how the people are suffering because of the government's incompetence, and lack of support financially. Listen to what they say about Sinovac. He has just stood up in parliament and announced fake news. However, nothing will change, because the Thai population are still not at the stage whereby they will refuse to take this nonsense that is spoken on their behalf. Meanwhile the country continues to be raped, very sad.

COVID-19 vaccine guide for travellers to Thailand
Partenavia replied to snoop1130's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Not quite the same as travelling somewhere in Europe now. You really would think at least someone would realise that people are not going to jump through those hoops. I am waiting to come back to see family, but until the requirements are back to near normal, it's not going to happen, and herd immunity is not reached at 70%, that's already clear in Europe.
